@Arcamene
I have a copy preordered on Amazon Japan. Never played a game in Japanese before, but I want MH on Switch too bad to pass up this opportunity via region free.
So check it. The game has a fan translation on 3DS. I'm using that for reference. But even without that, Generations shares quite a bit of content and can also be used for reference. I'm playing MHXX right now, just started a new save file and set my character up, getting rid of all the yellow and red talk clouds over peoples' heads and doing one hunt before saving, that way when Switch version arrives I can just transfer the data over and jump right in.
And I'm glad to share that the game allowed me to download all the DLC and item packs đ Mine has the v3 translation which is basically everything except dialogue and DLC quests, but I was still brainstorming what to do about the Japanese text in the Switch release that's not in this translation, and that common sense can't solve. Well, Google Translate has an app where you tap the camera icon, hold your phone towards the screen and it will literally translate everything it's ease into English on the spot! It's amazing!
I told the app I primarily want to use it for translating Japanese to English so it downloaded all of the translation files necessary to do it even while off-line, and it stays set at JP to EN by default. I've been testing it with conversations and it's absolutely fantastic. Anything in the game that you run across that you want translated you could just grab your phone and within seconds know exactly what it says. It may be a literal translation but it works well enough to understand what's being conveyed.
With both a tranaslation to reference and instant translation via phone, I'm super excited to play the game on Switch!

I just read that Atari are back in the hardware business and will release a new console called the Ataribox.From the sneak peek it looks like it will be similar in design to the original 2600 which was a lovely looking console.The 2600 was my introduction to gaming and the first console I ever owned.I still have the image in my head of my uncle turning it on for the first time one Xmas morning and playing Adventure and Centipede.I would have to wait a whole year to get my own,which was like an eternity as a little nipper.I loved the console at the time but I can't imagine any of its games holding up today.When I think of the games I used to play on it,I have no desire to play any of them again.I moved onto the Spectrum 128k +2 after the 2600 and I wouldn't want to play any of its games today either.
Regardless,it's good to see Atari back with an official console.
@MarcelRguez Split Joy-cons motion control is much more reliable than Wii motion controls for sure. Then add in standard controls for those who hate motion controls.
@MarcelRguez I don't own a 3DS, unfortunately. I don't see myself getting one anytime soon either, considering I bought a PS4 and a Switch within a few months of each other.
@Grumblevolcano MK8 on the X1 dash. Joycons showed at the XBox conference. Atari back in the hardware business. I'm starting to feel like Nintendo SwitchBoxX will succeed where Nintendo Play Station failed
@BLP_Software 13 year olds in bikinis isn't illegal even in the US. They sell bikinis for CHILDREN. Sick...but it's real. Maybe the UK is still more prudish than we are...that would be the day!
@OORWullie What the neck kind of console is Atari making? Just a retro remake console or are they aiming to take on Playstation directly?? Though....dat woodgrain! I need this. I missed woodgrain and earthtones! Maybe I can finally get rid of that legit 2600 decaying with mildew and water rot in my basement that I just can't part with
@-Green- Not sure why, but I know you're right. I mean, yeah, it's best of the artists original ideas get through but....Nintendo's a worldwide company with a worldwide audience and if ANY region (whether it's the US, UK, or United Arab Emirates) has special cultural concerns that they need the game to conform to, business-wise the cheapest solution is to just make the whole thing meet the lowest standard from the start. I'm kind of amazed they didn't do it that way before....it would have solved a lot of headache for them. Anyone that thinks Sony doesn't already do that isn't paying attention. They had their own fallout from not localizing uniformly with the original Little Big Planet with the Tormani Diabate song that outraged the middle east because it contained Koran versus sung in music which apparently is acceptable in North Africa and not acceptable in the Middle East, and they stripped it from the game and DELAYED the game worldwide just to strip it out. I'm sure after that little lesson, they pre-censor everything with Japan as well.
@WebHead I can't imagine that being amazingly successful if so. When I first heard Atari was doing hardware I pictured them reinventing themselves and coming out with a high power box to take on the status quo.....but your guess is probably more accurate, even if it's going to be as successful as....well....an Atari....
