Did anybody else go out and buy a Wii u after getting their switch? I was sick of waiting for games.

I'm not sure why we keep discussing stock. It seems like some are pointing to the fact that their local store has them in stock or don't have them in stock as proof to back up their argument.

BTW, if I'm trying to argue anything with the talk about there being plenty of stock in Australia it's not trying to knock the sales. It's definitely selling well here. What I'm trying to discredit is this idea that we're being left behind somehow. I'm also trying to discredit the idea that Nintendo limits supply deliberately in order to boost demand.

In Australia the Switch is selling like mad, the fastest selling Nintendo console ever, and you can still walk into a shop and get one. So when it's sold out in the US I don't think that's them limiting supply. The demand is probably just super high as it is everywhere ATM.

@BakkerBurke Nah. The main Wii U games that I care about, AKA MK8 and Splatoon, are both coming in the first couple of months in the forms of MK8D and Splatoon 2. Plus, chances are there will be either a new Smash or a Smash port at some point.

I still need to play through Mass Effect 2 and Fallout 4 on my PC anyway, as well as the first 3 Uncharted games, Final Fantasy 15, and Dark Souls 3 on my PS4.

Most of us already had a Wii U and played everything on it a long time ago. Idk, it takes years for consoles to build a good library. When you buy day one, you have the privilege of being there as those games release, and you get to watch the system grow slowly over the years, and what usually starts at nothing ends up in a fine array of quality video games.

I think most people, like me, already have other consoles to play in between Switch releases. I personally own everything, from Wii U and 3DS to Xbox One and PS4, PSVR, Vita and PC. But to be perfectly honest I haven't had time for anything else. I'm still playing Zelda, at around 175 hrs in. Haven't even beaten the 4th Divine Beast yet. I do play a little Fast Racing RMX, Shovel Knight and I Am Setsuna from time to time. And LEGO City Undercover. But Mario Kart and Puyo Puyo will be out before I finish Zelda, and Disgaea 5 and Ultra Street Fighter II and Sonic Mania shortly after that. Then it's e3, with Arms and Splatoon 2, and then fall which is gonna be packed with games left and right (Skyrim is gonna be like Zelda all over again).

So even though I have the ability to play other games, I just haven't. In fact, I've got releases piling up a mile high from all these other consoles. Idk how I'm gonna find the time to play them. Will try to squeeze in Persona 5 after Zelda... we'll see.

Enjoy the Wii U though. I recommend DKC Tropical Freeze, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. That's the creme de la creme there. May wanna check out Mario Maker too, as well as the Zelda remasters. I'd stay away from Mario Kart though since the Deluxe version is about to drop on Switch with a real battle mode and all DLC and portable play with easy MP. Probably steer clear of Splatoon also since the sequel is about to drop.

Wii U is a great system, man - have fun! Most people around here already owned it/played all of its games for the past 4 years though.

In other news, my physical copy of I Am Setsuna finally arrived today - just for USPS to do that annoying thing where they won't leave the package on the porch even though you're not required to sign for it. So now I think it's sitting down in my city's post office, and I'll have to wait until tomorrow. First-world problems and all that, I suppose.

@JaxonH Not to mention you've also got updates and DLC among that. It may seem small but next week's Fast RMX update does add more content, there's the 1st main Zelda DLC pack in the summer, 2nd main pack in the winter, I'd be surprised if Nintendo didn't use the content updates approach of Splatoon in Splatoon 2, etc.

While Switch is a slow start, BotW kind of allows that if you like that game.

@Grumblevolcano
Right. Square Enix just added the Temporal Battle DLC for I Am Setsuna, time trials in Fast Racing and Zelda DLC. It is small stuff but it adds up. The Zelda DLC will likely be a month of extra playtime alone. Mario Kart is gonna have legs though. 48 tracks, 8 battle arenas... that's alot of Mario Kart.

I think the system being a hybrid, and thus always being by your side, you kind of grow attached to it. It's crazy. Games just feel funner on the Switch, like that Puyo Puyo demo is just excellent. Really really excellent. Idk if I'd have given that game a thought on other consoles, but on Switch it's really appealing. It's weird and I can't explain why, exactly

This is another "good" news, but we still have to find most of them...even though 2 of the 3 can be kind of good system sellers

On Tuesday April 18th, Mojang will be streaming Minecraft: Switch Edition. Here's a tweet:

Minecraft will probably be a big selling point for kids. Not sure it's as popular as it was a few years ago, though. I dropped off the Minecraft train quite a while ago, so I'm not sure what state the game's currently in in terms of popularity.

@KirbyTheVampire Minecraft on the go is technically not new, but for those who want a better multiplayer experience should opt for this version. Plus it has Super Mario content.

@Azooooz Yeah, that's true. Still, for people who don't care for touchscreen controls in Pocket Edition or don't own a Vita, it might be a pretty attractive potential purchase.

@rallydefault Mine took a MONTH to arrive, and I specifically had it shipped unregistered so USPS didn't do that....and it was shipped registered anyway. It was pretty annoying ,but the game is much better than I thought it was going to be so I suppose it was worth it

@JaxonH Agree with all that. Though I can't get myself to go in with a simple game like Puyo...it's a little too Game Boy for me to really appreciate on a machine like Switch....but in terms of addiction to hardware I'm right there with you. I'm a little sad though that there's not much coming out for a while other than multiplayer stuff. When I'm done Zelda and Setsuna I'll have a wait time where I'll have to shudder work on my 3DS/PS4 backlog...and I don't wanna! I wanna play Switch!

Although.....Disgaea5.....if I can get into it better than I was able to with 4 that should keep me busy for months!

I'm biased, but I feel like we are getting to a really good start with eshop games. The portable Neo Geo games are great (here is hoping HAMSTER ports all of the samsho games) but games like snipperclips, wonderboy, graceful explosion machine and snake pass make me hopeful for the b and c list games on the eshop. I love AAA as much as the next gamer but I'm a bit quirky and my bread and butter are those little niche titles that were made with a lot of love but aren't quite as polished. (I am a big fan of the Way of the Samurai series which I feel represents this quite well) All I need now are some current fighters to be announced (guilty gear, blazeblu, skullgirls, doesn't have to be 3d) and then Hori to drop their HRAP and then I'm golden. That doesn't even get into the actual heavy hitters on the way. I really love this little device. I am curious as to what the big 3rd parties can do at this point, but honestly I've been very content with what we have gotten/been shown so far. My Ps4 has reported me missing.

lol this honestly made me laugh. I need to do my part, I guess!

@Ryu_Niiyama
You're right - the eShop offerings right now are pretty sweet. There's ALMOST something there for everyone at this point, and we're only a month and change out from the launch. And after taking a chance on the awesome Graceful Explosion Machine (and totally not being an indie guy in the first place), I really want to try Mr. Shifty AFTER they get a patch on it.
