So that fat giant Bokoblin thingy is presumably another overworld boss in the same way the rock monster is? I think that's a cool thing, having these giant monsters just minding their own business before Link ends their sorry existence sounds interesting especially if they're all optional. It's going to be really fascinating I think so get peoples' different opinions on this game based off of what could be a really unique experience from player to player, I know I for one would like to see as much as I can in a game I'm really enjoying, though as has already been discussed I'm sure speedruns will be equally interesting as 100% completions.

@Shinon So far we have:

  • Guardians
  • Talus'
  • Moblins
  • Stal-Moblins

And we know a guardian, at least, will be required for the story in some sense. But, since this game is The-Wind-Waker-but-good, so I'm holding out for a Helmaroc King boss via Shadow of the Colossus. All of the flying mechanics are in place to pull it off, too! And we had better get dynamic bokoblin mounted war band encounters! That was too sick in Twilight Princess, even just in the one area.

@Haru17: Don't forget about that giant guardian on death mountain that will snipe you from a mile away that we definitely for sure confirmed is 100% true without a single doubt in our minds...

By chance are you referring to my idea of being able to mount and ride bokoblins? No? Okay.

Boy, I gotta get out of the habit of editting my posts, and just finalize them before posting.

No — the Giant Guardian climbing the mountain with its body adorned with a gyroscope and its many tentacles is a full-on DUNGEON BOSS. These creatures roaming out in the world are mini bosses AT BEST.

Imagine; you are riding throughout Hyrule field during a rainy night when, suddenly, a horse-riding bokoblins warband rounds the hill. The torch carriers ride over to the archers, proffering their flames for a moment before the archers loose and burning arrows start to pelt the ground around you. You charge at the riders, readying a spin attack despite the hail of arrows, and loose it, striking several of them. The warband weaves around you, heading north to reform its ranks. You pursue, riding back into melee range when a blinding beam of light suddenly crashes into the ground around you. In an instant it dissipates in a cloud of flame and screaming bokoblins. Some are riding in random directions in the chaos, some are tossed up into the air, struck dead by the explosion. The guardian fires again, giving you only a second to pull the reins right before the beam of light connects with the earth and explodes flame once more.

It. Might. HAPPEN!

@Haru17: This is just one of those things that it's so unlikely that we're actually right, but I will still be sorely disappointed if we're wrong... Maybe I'll just save post #8288 for posterity or something. Or maybe I'll put it on my NL profile.

@Nicolai ...But honestly, for what purpose could the mega-evolved guardian be climbing the mountain for if not to lay waste to any pockets of civilization that dare to spring up within line-of-sight? (Distant cliffside rebel Goron hold-out, anyone?) Sure, he could be doing typical Fire Temple boss stuff like pull on a dragon's tail or whatever, but that's just kinda done-and-dull at this point.

Guardians indelibly have a laser — what good is a super-sized, friggin' mountain-mounted guardian that circumambulates the cliffs as if looking for something IF NOT to laser-nuke Hylians into the stone age?

This is gonna feel so good if we're right. I'm actually tempted into racing towards the volcano area to find out, but I'd be happier if it found me.

Buy more amiibo card packs for a chance to unlock the rubber-hilted Master Sword!

...You haven't forgotten what the Master Sword could do with lightning against Demise, haven't you? Then again, it's hard to say if pointing your sword to the sky is a thing without motion controls. Attracting lightning could also be a downside of the steel-plated armour.

@Haru17: Well, I certainly know the first thing I'm going to do once I get off the great plateau. Well, I suppose after I try to mount a bokoblin.

Just imagine looking at Death Mountain whilst running towards it, and all of a sudden, a split second flash of light near the summit before...

There will be two versions: Bomb Arrows Air Raid, and Bombchus of Doom.

Michael Bay would be pleased.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

"Love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:31

Haru17

Do you even FTL?

@Haru17: Google tells me that ftl could mean "Faster than Light," "Fruit of the Loom," "Federal Tax Lien," or "For the Loss" (opposite of ftw). ...not very helpful.

Also, my niece's mom is just my sister.

@Haru17 There are bokoblin on horses riding around on Hyrule field, here are some on a suicide mission walking besides an active guardian: http://nintendoeverything.com/wp-content/uploads/guardian-zel...

Talking about bosses and mini-bosses. There's that rumour that talks about there being only four dungeons (and therefore only four main bosses). Would you be okay with that, considering the large world and all? Is that enough classic Zelda dungeon adventure?

I've been thinking again about the amiibo situation regarding this. Nintendo confirmed the obvious which is that the Switch supports amiibo so I was thinking, surely Nintendo wouldn't keep the Wolf Link feature of BotW exclusive to Wii U owners as you need to beat the Cave of Shadows in Twilight Princess HD. Do you think TPHD will be playable on the Switch then either as a port or digital Wii U games being backwards compatible, etc.

That's pretty much the same in this case.

The amiibo was specifically made for TP, right? Then I don't see why they [b]need[b] to port TP to the Switch. BOTW got its own set of amiibo.

Octane

Grumblevolcano

Well it's the concept that "to access this you must have our last gen console", I don't think Nintendo would want to put that message across. Sure there's situations like exclusive conversations in Radiant Dawn if you transfer Path of Radiance data over but the key thing there is the Wii can play both Wii and GC games.

Grumblevolcano

Nicolai

@Grumblevolcano: I don't think that's a big deal. Every amiibo is always limited to the one or two games it's compatible with, and there's nothing stopping developers from making new games compatible with it. Nintendo might even manage to make that central amiibo game everyone's been asking for this generation.

Yeah, the Wolf Link situation is really clunky though.

And I definitely mean FTL as in faster than light—it's a space laser!

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Haru17

That's obviously a completely different situation. I don't remember a game — ever — that has been feature-dependent on a specific version of another game on another system — not even the other game's own system. I have to bieve Nintendo will add a different way to train Wolf Link's hearts into the Switch version.

I'll state the obvious: That giant moblin looks awesome! Makes me also think there are quite some "Shadow of the collosus" style bosses (big, bosses that you can climb).
