That's half-correct. Climbing is well established in gaming, but Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, and all the other 'parkour' games use only specific elements in the environment as footholds. The only other game that I've seen with a climbing system that could work on anything is Grow Home, a stupid little $10 game.

I don't think Breath will change gaming—Zelda games never do as because apparently having a Zelda-like genre would just be too fun—but it could progress the open world genre. Outside of sandboxes, the only kind of open world I find truly works is the Elder Scrolls model, because its points of interest and world building. This Zelda game could provide another great model: sandbox gameplay with a much more physical approach (destructible environments, weather, actually-good real time combat).

@Bsham Well you forgot about the runes and Shekiah Slab, and the fact that the NX version will most likely feature next hen hardware, so it very we'l could change gaming

It. Moved.

I don't know whether that's the City in the Sky, or Skyloft, or the reserve where all the cuccos that fly onscreen to murder you sleep, but it's something. Something like an airship.

Projared asked some people from Nintendo about it when they were interviewing him. They refused to answer his questions about it though.

Edit: So far, which do you guys prefer more: Skyward Sword's art style that is based on impressionism or Breath of the Wild's art style that is based on gouache art?

So far, I definitely prefer the newer art style.

You could climb anything in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction which was released like years and year ago. And Just Cause and Prototype. It's nothing new.

Last time I played it, you could climb anything in LEGO Worlds. Can't imagine that has changed.

Alright, but it's still a novel part of the mix to be able to climb everything in an unironically good game .

@Haru17 Yeah there are games you can climb everything, but not with beacons and that scenery 😂

I find it cool that you can play with Wolf Link/Hero of Twilight. Not going to happen, but it'd be really cool if there was an amiibo for every Hero and you could play along with their spirit.

Some thoughts on the timeline placement:

1. It's definitely after Skyward Sword, since we see the Master Sword in it's pedestal.

2. A whole lot of the world imagery harkens to Twilight Princess. Particularly the bridge design. The temple of time is very clearly the OoT version

3. There is obvious reference to Skyward Sword's ancient robot species. I initially thought it was grasping at straws, but all the E3 footage makes it abundantly clear. The designs of the guardians, terms like "Ancient screw", etc. all point to this game involving the ancient robots in some way or another.

My theory: This game takes place between Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess. There is room for another Hyrulean crisis in that time gap, and it would make a whole lot of sense why so much of the architecture resembles that world. However, the story involves some calamity dealing with ancient robots. Maybe Ganon took control of their technology or something.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

I don't think the Breath tech is from the robots in SS. For one thing, this stuff isn't built by the stupid robots, but rather by the Sheikah. Furthermore, the Breath tech seems to be all about lasers, while the SS stuff was levers and switches and timeshift stones.

Spoiler: It takes place after Skyward sword. As some people said before the great platue looked like Skyloft crashed into the land below. I guess they where right, since I saw the Statue of the goddess Hylia. Its in the temple of time, so they build the temple around it!

@Haru17,

Stupid robots? I liked them! It could also be the other way around: The Sheikah (wich basically seem to be tech-ninja's) maybe created the robots!

Spoilers: But maybe its just a reboot and doesn't fit in anywhere. And the blue-tunic seems to replace the green tunic. I believe it is called Champions shirt or something like that, and the description talks about the royal family. So that says all. Also, why is Ganon called Calamity Ganon this time? And the cutscene in the demo says "again" to Link, so this Link faced Ganon before! But as I said before, it may not be tied to the other titles.

Ok so I don't know if I can post this but apparently, Jim Sterling rants about Nintendo's excuse for not having a female link.

Warning! Has some fowl languages!

Honestly, why does it matter if Nintendo gives a lame excuse for a feature that's not a feature but rather something that just doesn't work out? I mean, I'm not bothered to ask Nintendo to make a female Mario, I'm not bothered to ask Nintendo to make the all pokemon have both genders.

Why is this even a thing? Its not even gonna help Nintendo make the game better.

Did you really watch the video and understood what he was complaining about?

He does not really care if Link is male or female but he thinks that having a female Link would be a good thing.
What he does care about are stupid reasons as to why there is no female Link. Instead of just saying "Links is male and will always be male" Nintendo comes up with all kinds of stupid stuff why Link can't be female.

And i have to agree with on on that part.

@Henmii Skyloft is way smaller than the Great Plateau though... Unless the entirety of Hyrule was also floating in the sky in SS (sky-ception) and SS Hyrule crashed down and became the Great Plateau.

I wonder if it's feasibly to sum up the major changes to preexisting systems:
-The bow now aims in third person.
-The roll attack is gone.
-Fire arrows no longer consume magic.
-Hearts are gone.
-Cutting grass now just cuts the grass.

Bow arrows are affected by wind, and they have a trajectory.

Hearts are still present, but they are not found as items in the environment. The meter can show both red and yellow hearts. Yellow hearts is the temporary boost through potion.

Cutting grass still reveal things hidden in the grass (such as insects), though.

BTW, the new Zelda game is actually a sports game. Here are some animated GIFs (as separate links so they don't affect the bandwidth of the site)...

@Octane,

That's true, but keep in mind that this iteration of the Temple of time is also 10 times as big as the one from Oot. So size doesn't say much (Lol, that sounds wrong).

All that talk about cutting grass doing nothing. It does nothing.....in this version! Who know, maybe in the final version there are rupees and other hidden stuff. And those insects, probably collectable. Like in Twilight princess!
