sooooooo is anyone else curious about load times between areas? I know Nintendo said it would be open world, but what about entering houses and caves and such? I'm wondering if they are going to try to mimic XCX by attempting to minimally use load screens...

I imagine it'll be like most open world stuff: Indoors has to load separately. Have any games ever had full open world with houses but no loading times? I think the Witcher 3 did but can't think of any others.
Think about it from a developer's perspective. You've got all of these unique textures and models inside a house that are unlikely to be needed outdoors and while the player is near the house, you don't know for sure if they're going to go inside or not. The only point you really know is once they've opened the door. Which means you need to load everything inside at that moment. Makes more sense to just do a loading screen.
Well, as we know, the current graphics engine is supposed to be less intensive, so the Wii U might not have a problem loading up indoor textures from a reasonable distance.

No, actually I think they'll mimic Xenoblade Wii by having buttons -_-

I hope they mimic XC's story v. XCX's... le sigh.
How 'bout neither so it can be good? I don't want to have Link and Groose be crushing on Zelda, then Groose gets killed off so Link x Zelda can be canon. 'Problematic' doesn't even begin to cover it.

When did we learn that the current graphics engine is supposed to be less intensive? Graphics engine for what? Zelda?
And less intensive than what?
How 'bout there's this part, right? Of the game, yeah? Where Link is all like 'hey Zedla, u wanna come over for xmas?' and Zelda's like 'oh, yeaaaah, about that' but then, then, she walks under mistletoe and link's all 'hey guuuurrrrlll' then Zelda's like 'well, I should really be going now,' and Link's like 'bebe it's cold outside on Snowpeak' (they're in snowpeak becuz, uhh, they went sledding for the annual hyrule Sledding derby) so then Zeld'as all 'oh, okay. the plot now obligates me to accept your advances irrespective of my character's former dislike of you. xoxo omm nom face nom'

Have you... played Xenoblade?
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

My thoughts exactly... @Haru17 I usually respect what you have to say here but boy you're off. XC's story is one of the best stories I've every played on a Nintendo console—top 3 material—dealing with themes of cyclical vengeance, tribalism, and destiny. Sure, there is a love triangle, but nothing contrived. While the next Zelda game does not have to be so thematically centered, the storywriting is utterly amazing and could greatly benefit from it.
Gameplay XC might not be for you, but I recommend trying it out before you misguidedly bash it.
