Ok, I'm seriously asking this. After Zelda U, do you think it is time to have Aonuma step aside?
Let a younger Nintendo person take the reigns and incorporate First person point of view or online multiplayer.
Let Aonuma try to revive another franchise before he retires. Kid Icarus could be similar to Zelda.
Or maybe give him a new franchisee entirely. Wonderful 101, or a new duo like a Ratchet and Clank.
What do you all think?
1st person: why? I love the Elder Scrolls series, but what is the benefit of being in 1st person? Also, in TES, YOU are the hero—Link is and always will be a separate character.
Online: why? The last thing we want is another epic turned into an MMORPG. Really—what is the benefit of a action adventure game with online capability? If you can bring a good case, I would reconsider.
There are things that could be changed with the Zelda series, but... what you suggested is a no.
That's the problem. Artists create audiences, not the other way around. Right now, Zelda is a respected franchise. For those who dislike the game, changing to 1st person won't make them turn.
I personally think Zelda should use some systems from Fable, and allow the game to change based on choices you make. Not good or evil, but other things.
Now that's something feasible and something I'm hoping Aonuma is tinkering with. He has mentioned that in interviews—changing the scope of puzzles. Granted, Fable's system is so broken—a better analogy would be Mass Effect.
I'd rather not have this discussion about first person perspective again. We had the same discussion earlier in this thread and it wasn't pretty.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
@Whitewatermoose: It should be optional, and I think it might be for this new entry in the series. It's not like First Person view is new to the series; Link uses it to aim in every 3D entry, and WWHD allows you to move during it too. Aonuma should let us make the choice. Some of us feel more immersed from the viewpoint of the characters eyes, and some of us feel more immersed when we see our character move.
I understand the reason of limiting choices in casual games and Mario games, but in Zelda, we should have more options. 1st/3rd person, Male/Female, Wii-mote/buttons, etc. Heck, let us choose how often we get reminded by our fairy companion if we get one.
I said it before and I'll say it again.... Gimme a Legend of Zelda spinoff creates by Square Enix or Atlus with Aonuma as a creative consultant. Why? Square Enix would give Legend of Zelda really fun combat and amazing graphics. Atlus would finally do a modern day setting Legend of Zelda. Heck, Kojima would be an amazing director for a Legend of Zelda spinoff game.
Noooo kojima will replace half of the characters with cyborgs.
Like, literaly, everyone will be half cyborg.
A cyborg race already sounds more interesting than seeing the Gorons over and over.
if you guys want cyborgs go play phantasy star, ill take my gorons anyday
Please don't be one of those Zelda fans... People who love Zelda so much that they can't accept change or different new ideas. I had enough of seeing Gorons. New race that's actually interesting, please.
Wii U has barely outsold Dreamcast. Dreamcast was only on the market 18 months!!!! Think about that. Nintendo took three years to outsell Dreamcast!!!
...Interesting!!!!!
So is the Dreamcast the ball or the money?
Anyway, you mention Fallout. Fallout is not adventure game. It is a sandbox game, and the only one of its kind. Don't mention Far Cry, they are not the same. It's like me mentioning Assassins Creed, which sells 20 to 30 million units annually.
Seriously though, no. I get it. Fallout just released so we have to have a big silly discussion on first person games again when it's not needed, and again try to back it up with impulsive armchair analysis. Fallout will sell 20 million units. Therefore, it can be concluded from this game and another from the same developer released 4 years ago that westerners prefer 1st person games, Zelda would double its sales with a perspective that nobody asked for, balls are honest, and Dreamcasts don't care.
And maybe you all are right. Have a Zelda spinoff with Aonuma as creative consultant, and allow different ideas. Like Tri Force Heroes. A game told from Zeldas point of view or from another character entirely, something darker. Maybe Skull kid.
I had enough of seeing Gorons. New race that's actually interesting, please.
Well, excuse me (princess cough), but I have you know that Gorons are awesome.
How could you not like those dorks? And I don't think they're boring either. Not any more than the other races in Zeldas anyway, especially the Gorons in Twilight Princess and the Wind Waker "trilogy" (WW+DS Zeldas)
Zoras are a bazillion percent more interesting than Gorons. Especially like in Twilight Princess... But even so... Entire new races in Zelda U please. References to Gorons and Zoras is fine, though. Well... Mostly new races in Zelda U is fine too.
