Also, I love how Yuna and Rikku actually had pretty conservative designs in FFX and then for X-2, Nomura was all like "well, enough of THAT garbage! BELTS, ZIPPERS, AND RIDICULOUS HAIR FOR ALL!"
Right I just pretend that FFX-2 doesn't exist. To be honest I would've paid more for the Vita remaster just to not have it included. Yuna was my favourite character in any Final Fantasy and I really didn't buy that her entire personality and attitude was all contingent on there being a giant catholic death whale (as it was once described in a review I read) muckin around and that deep down she just wanted to be frolicking around in the mini-skirts and singing pop music to crowds.
Kind of a sin here (huehuehue), but I think I prefer X-2 over X. Both had a bad story and bad characters, but X-2 had a ridiculously fun battle system. Best take on the ATB and job system to date, in my opinion. Also, no Tidus, which is a great improvement over anything, really.
X may actually be my least favorite main series FF game. Tidus ruins my whole day.
One of the weirdest design choices to me though in FFX is that Nomura went out of his way to make everyone so asymmetrical. Even Yuna, who is probably the most symmetrical design of the bunch, has heterochromia. Half of those characters don't even have the same kind of glove on both hands. Is there a glove shortage in Spira? Tidus is of course the worst offender on all counts. Tidus is as Tidus does, as it goes.
Whatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. That subjective opinion is clearly objectively wrong.
I was thinking about it the other day, and I think I would rate both FFX and FFXIII 6/10. Lowest of the main series, but still OK games.
I haven't played any of the 1-3 originals and have barely touched the remakes, to be fair.
What about 13-2 and 13-3? (14 and 15 is SE could do math)
I consider XIII-2 more or less on the same level as XIII. Fixed some problems, but added new ones. Story is still a mess. Characters are still not particularly interesting. Still a decent game overall though.
I only played XIII-3 for a few minutes.
As for XI and XIV, if those count, I never played XI and only did the 2 week free trial of XIV:ARR. It was pretty good. Beautiful art direction, great music, story was kind of "there" (it's an MMO story, whatever), gameplay was pretty standard, but not bad. Good variety of stuff to do, from what I saw. I assume that most of the game content is at endgame though, as it usually is for MMOs. Nice community. If I didn't have such a huge backlog of games to finish at the moment, I might have subscribed.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
^ Yes, and some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half pages, the topic passed out of all knowledge.
Haha I think the amount of tangential discussion in the Zelda and Xenoblade X threads have something to do with how excited we all are for said titles.
We're discussing Final Fantasy because we all secretly hope to see Link will using asymmetrical, unpractical clothes and carry around about 56 belts in Zelda U. Let's not forget the spikier hair.
Oh yeah, and a ridiculously large and heavy musical instrument to use as a weapon. With guns and swords attached to it.
It's possible that the Gore Magala was influenced by Batman.
I mean, it looks like him. Cape, pointy ears, dead parents and all.
Add some Joker to the mix and you have the frenzy dust, which is kinda like the Joker's favorite crazy gas.
You're right. With all the Magalas that've been hunted they all almost certainly have dead parents.
But that would mean they're righteous vigilantes in search of justice. * Gasp * Could it mean... we were the monsters all along?

Hmh, I should probably add something relevant to the discussion. Do you think Link will have a musical instrument this time around? We've seen one in almost every 3D Zelda, though the mechanic was best utilised in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, whereas the lyre in Skyward Sword served little purpose and felt tacked on. I liked how in, for example, the Forest Temple of OoT, you used songs to vaporise a block and in general interact with the environment. Used sparingly, this is the sort of thing I'd like to see if there's an instrument in Zelda U: to have a real impact on the surroundings instead of just using it a few times in scripted events (looking at Spirit Tracks).
As for the instrument itself, I've seen people speculating Link to be a farmer in Zelda U. Some sort of horn, like a really hefty French Horn would fit the picture in my opinion.
Well, most monsters in Monster Hunter get hunted simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time or because some rich person wants an eccentric meal and stuff like that. (Sometimes even just for fun).

So I'd say the hunters are not exactly heroes.
(Most of the time)
I think that's overthinking it. With all of the monster attacks I'm pretty sure that the Monster Hunter world is somewhat analogous to Jurassic Park.
Final Fantasy X Legend of Zelda sounds awesome to me only if Aonuma and Tetsuya Nomura worked together as a team. I would love to see the Legend of Zelda get a Final Fantasy twist to it. I bet Japan would totally love it, too.
Gotta admit... I really would love to see how Link and Zelda would look if a Legend of Zelda game had graphics like Final Fantasy XV. Go ahead and make fun of me. Hahah I'm ready for the onslaught. Final Fantasy XV's animations (seriously... watch the FF XV demo on Youtube. FF XV is looking to be very awesome) are crazy impressive and to see Link and Zelda just having those animations would make me cry tears of joy.

Ick, no, get it away. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a more JRPG-like, character-driven story. That being said crossovers are just stupid fan-marketing plots. And since Nintendo would want the game exclusive to Wii U and Square want it cross platform this would never happen.

Nomura isn't an animator though. He's an artist. And I'm sure there are plenty of people just as qualified as Nomura to bring Aonuma his coffee. ^_^
Seriously though, I'd love to see a collaboration between Aonuma and Akihiko Yoshida. Not a ZeldaxFF collab, but some project. Final Fantasy XIV is the first time Yoshida has had the opportunity to flex his muscles and take advantage of powerful hardware in art direction and the result is gorgeous. FFXIV is beautiful both in stills and in motion.
On that note though, who even does the art for Zelda games? Does Aonuma assemble a new art team for each game? The only information I can really find at a glance is that a guy named Satoru Takizawa was the art director on Twilight Princess. Looking over his CV, he's done some other design work for Zelda, but TP is his only art direction credit.

A Legend of Zelda X Final Fantasy crossover sounds amazing to me. There wouldn't have to be leveling up just Final Fantasy XV's graphics and combat. Just the thought of Link and Zelda walking towards Epona in Final Fantasy XV's graphics just makes me drool. I've said a long time ago in this thread that I wanna feel cool when I swing a sword in a game that's not turn based. The first and last time I ever felt cool for swinging a sword in a Legend of Zelda game was Twilight Princess for the Wii. I personally really like flashy and cool animations when it comes to certain games. Hyrule Warriors comes close to that.
Also, for the 40 or so pages we all spent arguing over the writing in Zelda, boy, at least we don't have Nomura's fanfiction.net grade scripts here. I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm no fan of his work, but he's a much better artist than he is a writer.

Zelda U will probably bring back and add some new fancy attack animations. And the game looks beautiful, why does it need to look like FF15? I think realistic cel shading is right for Zelda at present. The only thing FF15 might floor Zelda at is story and music, both of which are complete unknowns for Zelda ATM. Those FF15 combat themes, though... wow.
