Here's a thought. Given Inklings made it in, maybe other top Smash Ballot characters will be in Smash Switch.

I only just played Golden Sun 1 last month and yeah, it's a great game with really neat ideas. It can translate to Smash really easily and maybe help drum up interest in a sequel.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

As far as I'm concerned, if the moveset is unique and the character belongs to nintendo, then there's no good reason to remove them from the game.

I think Issac would have better chances of joining as the random retro character in about a decade more...

Giving Xenoblade 2 2 stages would be nice, 1 could be a warping stage like Lylat Cruise which takes you to certain places in Alrest while the other could be a Tiger Tiger stage (think vertical version of the Pac-Land stage in Smash Wii U).

@Snaplocket Jigglypuff is such a mainstay at this point. Jigglypuff is one of the original 12 from SSB64. I can't see it being removed. There has also always been great backlash for the lack of Mewtwo in Brawl and SSB4 before he was announced as DLC. I don't really think it's fair for either character to be not be in. They both have unique movesets. It's a shame all of Gen I/Kanto pandering, but these characters were not put in for Gen I nostalgia, Gen I was all of Pokemon out when SSB64 came out with Jigglypuff, and Mewtwo was added in Melee, when Gen 2 was around and the kind of rabid nostalgia we see for Gen I was yet to be a thing.

Well, at the end of the day we don't really have a definitive answer as to why Isaac's AT was removed. I've heard speculation of technical problems, but I just don't buy that.

@Grumblevolcano I get a feeling Inklings only made it in because Splatoon is Nintendo's biggest new IP and they want to spread it everywhere. This happened in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as well.

@DarthNocturnal Cool ideas. Ragnarok has always been a move I wanted to see him have in Super Smash Bros. It's just a perfect fit!

Gosh darn it, now I'm going to want him again and face the crushing disappointment all over again. =(

The character I want the most is Captian Toad. Toad himself is a character I would say is almost as iconic as Mario himself, he could use his pickaxe, minecart, turnips and he would be a unique fighter, likely having a poor air game (come on man just take off your backpack!) but unlike Little Mac, have a special maybe involving the bird boss(shrunk down of course) as a recovery. And his reveal card could be “CAPTIAN TOAD is ready for adventure!” That ones free Nintendo.

Mewtwo was likely added to cash in on the anime, and the very popular first movie, more so than to represent the games.

Lucario is likely in a similar boat.

I don't see any of them being cut, at least in the sense of them eventually being playable. Maybe Lucario would be released as DLC when the Gen 4 remakes are announced or Mewtwo be DLC for Pokemon Day 2019 but I don't see any of them being never playable on Smash Switch. That's the wonderful thing about releasing Smash in 2018, at least 2019 and 2020 will probably be filled with DLC characters/stages.

And did you know, if you remove 58 characters from Smash 4 U, there are no characters. A fighting game with no characters, can you believe it!?

Coming back to reality for a moment, there are more Pokemon than Zelda characters — a series that has actual developed characters sometimes. Zelda gets normal Link, fast Link, Zelda, Sheik, and sluggish and unplayable Captain Falcon. We don't need more Pokemon, that series is an endless rabbit hole of "but why not Wynaut?." If you want to play a Pokemon fighting game on Switch, go buy Pokken.

You did absolutely nothing to tell me how that argument was supposedly bad. You just made a snarky comment, that's all.

I believe Pokemon has some contract that a new Pokemon from the most recent Generation has to be included. So for Melee it was Pichu, Brawl had Lucario (Lucky he was popular), 4 had Greninja, designed before XY was even out so that was a popularity crapshoot.

So odds are we get a Gen 7 Pokemon. At which point I see Incineroar more than Decidueye.

@YummyHappyPills Please no. Please. I already have to deal with the inclusion of the Inklings, the inclusion of Incineroar would surely send me over the edge. We at least one design to hate with a burning passion not make it into the game, please?

And as Snaplocket said, Decidueye makes a lot more sense. Although there's no saying that Sakurai and his team are thinking from that same logic.

@Harmonie I think they would like to avoid overlap with Pokken where possible, of course, this all depends on whether Gen 8 exists by the time Smash releases. If it does, itll be a Gen 8 thing and for obvious reasons I cant guess that can I?

Also, you dont like the Inklings? I mean okay, but nice to see one character ruins the game for you to the point you feel the need to announce it. shrug

@Snaplocket Mewtwo's moveset in Melee was lame because it was broken and unfinished, not because it was uninspired. Smash isn't really the best to look for diversity in a Pokemon's moveset, see Pokken for that.
