@Octane I'm 98% sure the same restriction applied in Splatoon 1 (the control stick being locked in the vertical direction with motion controls on).
After playing BotW for a stupidly long time though, it now feels pretty weird not being able to adjust the vertical axis via control stick as I was constantly fiddling with it in that game. Similarly with the jump button placement.
Still, I had no problem in the Splatoon days, so I sure I'll re-accustom. Would be nice to see in option to swap the jump/map button placement though.

Agreed. I liked the controls in the first game, so I don't think I have an issue with this one. Nevertheless, an option to change the controls is always appreciated. It's a thing that's often overlooked in video games, even though they're not that difficult to implement.
Speaking of control schemes (bit of a tenuous link ahead), has anyone worked out how to draw on the Switch's touch screen with more finesse than the default option of splodgy finger painting?
I tried using a carrot, which was... an improvement, but still not ideal (plenty of vitamin A though). I've heard you can get smartphone styli, which would prusumably work just as well in the Switch's capacitive touch screen, but I haven't really looked into it. Anyone got any experience in this area?
If ranks were separate in the first Splatoon, my ranks would've likely been around:
Splat Zones: B
Rainmaker: S
Tower Control: A
I generally did very well in Rainmaker due to some tactics I developed. Like if the Rainmaker is too close to your base, jump off the map to reset its position back at the centre.
Splat Zones: S+
Rainmaker: S
Tower Control: B
I play a slosher, so splat zones is a total pushover for me. Rainmaker is pretty good too since I have a lot of strategies too. I was hoping they'd introduce more ranked modes.

@DreamyViridi The map thing will take getting use to but it's more of the same to me but a bit better across the board.
The only difference I can see is there won't be any early advantage of being better then someone like last time. This time 1000's will be great from day one so that might make it harder to rise up the ranks. Then again you can also jump in the ranks quicker so we may possibly see people rank up in days this time.

@TheLZdragon Maybe for you since you didn't get it day one. You already had a good group you had to plow through to start. I bet the rest of us day one players will notice a difference.

@DreamyViridi It's quite good. The visuals are nice, the gameplay's pretty much the same besides a few button changes that are kind of annoying (jump being moved to B in particular made me rage), and the game overall seems smoother and better. However, the motion controls in handheld mode are pretty bad from my experience. Everything constantly has a downward tilt to it.
@Nintendoer That sounds more like an issue of how you're holding your Switch. You may need to sit up and straighten it out, or set your current downward-facing position as the "standard" with the camera reset button.
@Spoony_Tech@Nintendoer - Sounds good. I can tell that the lack of gamepad map and jump being B will take some getting used to. Was never one with the motion controls myself.

@Nintendoer I was walking around Inkopolis earlier on the handheld,I know what you mean about the downward tilt but I've figured out how to get around it.Tilt the top of the screen towards you about 45 degrees then press Y,it feels great after that.If I remember correctly,on Wii U you had to tilt the top of the Gamepad away from you before pressing Y for it to feel right.
