@ACK "Nope-ing out of certain death" is my new favourite phrase. I'm going to use is as the strapline for the new super big budget blockbuster action film I'm directing in my imagination. Anyway, thanks for the intel. The ability seems like it can really tip the scales in close quarters combat.
I've just made brought my RM rank up to A, meaning I have straight As across the board! Which is... nice, but I think it signals the end of being able to sit down with the game and reliably make progress.
It also means I can possibly step back from it a bit of focus on some other real-life stuff. Although I'm not sure the subject of my studies is ultimately any more practical or applicable than then shooty squid game.
Single-player-wise, I've just made it to the final regoin. It really has been a fantastic expansion on the original's Hero Mode. Generally way more dynamic, inventive and interesting. A few levels are almost a little puzzley, and the overworld a lot more so. The dialogue is also brilliant. It's often quite witty and surprisingly acetic. I'll be a little sad when it's over, but I've been glad to draw it out this long, in balance with the other game modes.

😆
Please let us know when your blockbuster film will be released! We will all be there to applaud you on the red carpet... in your imagination. Seriously though, that was funny.
And I guess there's nothing more applicable than this 'shooty squid game' in our lives.
If there was a way to make a living as a Splatoon Pro, I'd definitely try it. I'd probably fail because I'm not good enough, but still. ^^
@shani well some people do it with other games including Smash
Splatoon is still growing so there are a few tournaments with prize money.
One actually coming this next weekend with $500 in prize money and $5 to register.
I work night shift though so I'm not sure if I'd be able to participate...
The portablility of the Switch should certainly make it a bit easier to set up events. Would be real nice to see a healthy tournament scene.
Pro Smash isn't too profitable compared to other big fighters, though, due to the lack of support from Nintendo. Splatoon likely wouldn't be much different, so don't get too excited about the idea of buying a mansion with your Rainmaker skills.
Speaking of Rainmaker, today I seriously just grabbed it from it's starting position and ran it all the to the end in one go by myself on Starfish Mainstage, with virtually no backup. I only met token resistance; just goes to show how proper defence is just as important as maintaining offensive presence.
I was on a tournament on Friday. Everyone had their Switch with them. It was set up via wireless play. But most of the matches were plagued by disconnects and had to be repeated. And there is no spectator mode.
If you want to setup a tourney, you need the LAN mode. It is reliable and has a spectator mode.
But for that, not only does every Switch need a LAN adaptor. Every Switch also needs its own TV.
So the portability really becomes meaningless when everyone has to bring their own TV.
I got Splatoon 2 recently and I'm really enjoying it!
I haven't really touched the single player mode, I been mostly focusing on Turf Wars since that's what I pretty much bought the game for.
The one thing I really can't wait for is for the Switch to have an inbuilt party chat function. If there was a chat in game it would make it so much more fun and competitive. I also wish you could join a team party and play with selected people, if they allowed this it could make Splatoon 2 even better.

@shani was there some sort of multi-player update? Can I play with the people in my house in any way? Really taking away from the experience of this game. Hate having to share turns with my wife. We should be able to play together at the same time. Nintendo really knows how to make you love and hate them at the same time.
@MegaMari0 That's not the cap. I'm at 110. Although there are no further titles to gain, your rank and pay grade just keep increasing (along with the difficulty). According to the guide, it goes up to 999 with a 435% pay rate.

Yes, by buying another Switch and another copy of Splatoon.
What's so hard to understand about this? This wasn't, isn't and never will be a game that you can play in multiplayer on one device. You don't need to wait for an update to change it, it just won't happen and it wouldn't make any sense either.
I don't know what you expect but obviously you didn't think it through. It's like asking to turn an apple into an orange. It's just not possible. From a technical standpoint but also balance-wise.
I don't see you complaining that Breath of the Wild (for example) has no local multiplayer, why is it so hard for you to understand this?
