@BruceCM @komodo182 @JaxonH thanks, appreciate the replies. I've checked in on every side talk/event on the map whenever they're available, and talk to every npc in each section. I must be missing something. I might just check out a guide to see what I'm doing incorrectly that you guys have gotten right. I'd love to have a full team heading into battle.

Right. He's the ice mage you may have heard ppl speaking of. I like having Frederica and Corentin, Fire and Ice, with Narve able to do multiple elements. Gotta counter out their weakness though with fire and ice rings that negate their -30% damage. Otherwise they're glass cannons.

I got it, thanks everyone. I was clearly missing the character story tab on the over map. DOH! I got harabossa just now. I'll check out more later tonight.

Some big events in chapter 15!

Well, some of that may well be 'convictions' related, which isn't helpful, @NintendoByNature .... Glad you have found the characters bit, so that'll help! It's still early days, so detailed guides on some things may not be finished just yet Nice, I'll go that way next time, @JaxonH .... Since I plan to see what happens if I basically make every opposite decision, lol

I didn’t play much this week, but I just finished Chapter 6… I had to switch the difficulty to Easy for the first time, that battle was really difficult haha. I know it must get harder though, which will be interesting. I’m excited for Chapter 7 because I already know we get to vote on the Scales of Conviction again.

Finished my first playthrough. I made a save before chapter 17. So I plan on doing the other endings and then a new game plus.

I think I stumbled onto the golden route (without cheating! Yay! All because I think I missed something in an exploration section) but I have got to grind the heck out of my units. I must be missing some people because one of my setups looks pretty ragtag. Not sure how I can win without grinding for a week or so. Need a lot more money and materials. That being said this is a pretty ambitious lead up. I hope it finishes with a bang.

Thats kinda crazy, since there's so many very specific things you have to do in order to land in the Golden route.

I've heard it's is pretty tough, and requires all your party members, so it might be best to attempt through NewGame+

I'm not sure which path I want to go for yet. I may just continue to play, letting the cards fall how they may. Then going for Golden Route in a 2nd playthrough, making opposite choices whenever possible.

@JaxonH yeah I am in one battle now that makes me wonder if I am locked in either an unwinnable state or that I will have to grind like 20 levels above the recommended. Now I see why the game allows you to grind. Luckily I like grinding. My assumption is I am past the point of no return (the game kinda said I was) and can’t earn new characters if there are any left. Maybe I am just assuming but it seems like there were open spaces for more people.

As for the golden route, a lot of it aligned with my morals or it was the best of a bad lot except one part that I thought unfairly forced me into doing something I didn’t agree with until I saw the after scenes, and while I had no idea it would have the impact it ended up having, I thought I had earned a secret weapon. After that the game points you to the golden route if you pay attention (a lot of it ticked me off though, which again is a good thing as the game wouldn’t let me make the best choice without consequences). IMO. I usually don’t do replays (because I usually make the same choices. I’m not one of those people that needs to see the side I don’t agree with) but I am determined if I can actually beat this first play through to figure out if I missed people.

If it'd let you deploy more people than you have, @Ryu_Niiyama ....? I think all the people that can be recruited have been mentioned in the last page or 2 of this thread, if you want to check! I got the 'golden' route without having looked up any guides or anything, so that's certainly possible & the last battles in that are tough, to put it mildly, even on 'easy'

@BruceCM Nope. I caved and looked it up (just the missing units). I’m missing 4 people you can get in the first run and of course the New Game plus character. I have everyone y’all mentioned in the past two pages so it sounds like we all have to play through a second time lol. I’m just going to keep grinding. Since you keep exp if you die then I will throw myself at this battle until I am stronger than the units but I swear they are like a waterfall. I killed the general and like five new units spawned with two healers so they slowly picked me off. Sigh.

Well, I haven't done NG+ yet & I dunno if anyone has, so I'd have to check my roster, @Ryu_Niiyama .... But if you've looked, there's probably more info than we have so far on just what conditions there are for some of the recruits!
Guess you'll get through it eventually, with that approach, though!

Stream of consciousness here. Currently on Chapter 8. Haven't played it for a minute but I have pretty good impressions of it so far. The story is intriguing and I'm curious about seeing just how many diverging paths it's going to have and how different they really are from one another.
I really love how all the characters (at least of the 16 or so I have so far) have their own little gimmick that adds layers of utility past just 'kills the enemy'. Which is something I've wanted out of Fire Emblem for a while. Here's a strategy game where a character named Anna is actually worth using lol.

I was iffy on exp carrying over on resets at first, but since I'm playing on hard mode I very much welcome it. It seems like a good way to make sure you aren't stuck forever on a single battle, this game is definitely a tough one.
One thing I'm not a fan of is a lot of the voice acting. There's been a ton of line deliveries that sap the drama out of the scenes (almost like the director didn't tell the VA the context of their lines or how they should be feeling idk). Like most jrpgs its a mixed bag but with how serious the story is it's more noticeable here.
Also, I typically don't have camera issues but my god this game's camera loves to fight with me.
There's some scattered thoughts for now, I'm really looking forward to playing more.

Just finished Chapter 7 - I chose to surrender Roland, but now I regret it so much knowing they’re going to execute him.

Best way to play the game. Making hard choices that conflict with your morals is what real leaders have to do.

Just think, had you stood on your morals you would have paid a very serious price, with the entire weight of the Aesfrosti army bearing down on you in one if the hardest battles of the game, and your entire army might be dead, including Roland. Not to say you couldn't have overcome, but still. There's always a price to be paid.
