Are the specific cases for those words voiced, @BabyYoda71 ....? For the phrase writ large, it's definitely the correct spelling there! Domain isn't exactly the same as demesne, either
Played any more yet, @JaxonH ....?

Ok, had some play time with the game and I'm very impressed with the UI. I love how you can see the paths of the game (which can give you ideas for subsequent playthroughs) and I love that I really have to think about the strategy and that there are so many terrain buffs/debuffs/advantages/disadvantages. It's one thing I wish that FE would dig a little deeper into than the current setup. I will say the lack of permadeath does make me a little reckless but since this is more an rpg first and a war simulator second, it makes sense. There are a few bits of the plot so far that I wish a line of dialogue was used to paper over a hole (like you have a healer right THERE at least have her say something...those that have dug in may have an idea to what scene I'm referring to...) but overall lots of meaty, useful dialogue, lots of options to dig into the people and their motivations and notes to worldbuild...so I'm very, very happy with that. I like the encampment/mock battle ideas to allow you to grind and test your units. I love that you can simulate actions, so you don't entirely make stupid decisions. I'm still getting used to the positions for the follow ups (I will line units up thinking they will follow up attack and they won't meanwhile the AI piles on follow ups in the next turn).

This is a game where I wish I had a physical manual or a strat-guide with a indepth follow up on the battle system as I prefer that to an ingame manual. The music is nice and punchy but not Octopath level...but we shall see if it gets even better. Some of the villains are a little mustache twirly but so far not the main ones so I can let it pass. I like that Seranoa so far isn't a plucky idiot and that you can shape his personality I was a little worried about him and that is one thing that I think that FE got right about the avatar unit, as even though they have the plot pivot around them the NPCs carry the emotional weight, so if you don't like the protag you aren't really bogged down with them stealing scenes. But Seranoa so far isn't bad. I like most of the army actually, they have pretty differing personalities but their loyalty is obvious. I will say the royal family of glenbrook was poorly written imo...they tried to hard to make them mysteriously benevolent to give fuel to Roland being the well meaning black sheep member, but perhaps my view of them will change once I'm further in. Honestly I would like to play a prequel game for the SaltIron war already...so that lets me know the game is sucking me in. The outcomes of the plot are a widdle predictable but it's entertaining which is what matters. I feel that SE really fixed the movement during each phase type and I love the art direction of the game, like how each city is almost a set piece over the map (also love how the advance wars remake is similar in making the battles seem like models) and the only thing I'd wish for is character portraits that react to the dialogue. I adore the sprite art, and the portrait models, but sometimes I'd wish during a scene I could get a better sense of a character's face. Seeing as I'm not usually into character portraits (like when SoS ditched them I didn't care) I suppose it means I'm invested. I also like how bitesized each chapter is...this feels like it will be a long rpg but that you make progress at a rapid pace. Doesn't feel bloated.

So overall I will be putting a lot of time into this. My schedule is really really packed ( I just started a small business and am changing jobs and starting school and moving all at the same time) so I doubt I'll keep pace with the other folks in this thread, but I will hammer away at this. I'm not buying games for a bit after March anyway as there really is no point ( I don't have the time to beat them and might as well as wait for BF sales). Surprisingly I am playing this in English. Which is rare for me when I have the option. But the English language VA feels serviceable enough. All in all it totally has earned the high praise so far..

I think I know which scene you mean there, @Ryu_Niiyama .... Glad you're liking it so much, though! I feel like they're probably building up to some sort of twist but that could be just me overthinking it!

I would second that playing Three Houses before this really spoils you will the ability to reverse time. This is definitely more difficult, though you can still click on other units to simulate certain actions before you take them.

The word “demesne” came up again, so I googled it… it is actually pronounced the same as domain, so I suppose that one makes sense, which means pronouncing writ as written was the only actual difference between the text and voice so far (both words made sense within the context).

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

Are you all playing the english synchronization here? is it good? anyone playing a different one which just sounds better or anything?
just asking cause the only negative thing nintendolife seemed to mention in their review was the english voice synchronization

Started chapter 3 last night and turned the game off. Only a few battles under my belt but they're definitly engaging. While I probably shouldn't be, I keep comparing the game to FE, when it comes to gameplay. It's pretty fun, so far. I'm waiting for it to kick into high gear though.

My god, Huguette is VERY powerful. In the battle in Chapter 3 in Aesfrost (where you battle the salt dealers), I literally one-manned over half of them. They killed everyone else in my party and I was certain I was going to lose, but then Huguette flew to the top of the highest building where nobody else could reach her. For the rest of the battle, none of the dealers did anything on their turn, not even move, and I just one attack at a time killed them all. I wonder if this was an intentional possibility?

@BabyYoda71
Ya, it's all about exploiting the right strategy, after all!

But that particular approach will be less viable in later maps where there's plenty of mages and archers that can reach you just as easily as you can reach them.

Ranged units can be a powerful weapon. But there's a number of tactics to follow. For those new to the genre, I'll share a few:

The Wall
Block off access to a narrow passage with 3 units side by side (the middle unit can also be one square behind the side units). This prevents enemies from follow up attacks and back attacks. It's also a good strategy when being pinched from 2 directions. Keep your healer and ranged units safely in the middle with a wall of units a few squares out on each side.

NOTE: Certain units have skills which can effectively create a wall for you, such as the ice mage which creates a line of 3 ice blocks. This is a great alternative option to wall off enemies if you're being pinched and need to focus your troops on one side first.

Protect Your Back
Whether you face away from a wall or place characters back to back, you always want to protect your back to avoid critical hits from the enemy.

Lock Ins Can Be Dangerous
While it is possible to lock an enemy in place with units on all 4 sides of them, it leaves you extremely vulnerable to back attacks and squeeze attacks with follow ups. Use with caution

Over Extending Can Be Dangerous
The lone man approach. Sending a single unit out into the midst of a number of enemies without any protection or backup can be a fatal mistake. You're left open to crits from the backside, squeeze attacks with follow ups, and you'll be the sole target of numerous enemies. Travel in at least pairs of 2.

Clusters Can Be Dangerous
You don't want to over extend and lone man it, so you might be tempted to cluster your units together and move as a group. This too can be catastrophic. If a mage with an AoE attack gets in range, they can pummel 3 or 4 of your units in one fell swoop. So you don't want to over extend, but you also don't want to cluster.

Watch Turn Order
The turn order is critical when making proper risk assessments. Know who moves when, and how long it would take for your healer to get in range if needed, or backup to arrive.

I've found the English to be great, personally. NintendoLife has their opinion and that's fine, but to me, I couldn't imagine playing in another language (since I'm not bilingual). The English just adds so much to the experience.

@NintendoByNature
Finish ch. 3 and 4 and you'll be in the thick of it.

@JaxonH noted. I'm ready for it. Admittedly, I was dozing off during some of the dialog last night 🤣. It was a long day though, so it's not at the fault of the game.

@NintendoByNature
I know a lot of ppl binge on games, but as I've gotten older I binge less and less, and more or less play in 1 hr bursts. Which makes the experience less likely to become overburdened from dialog and such

Triangle Strategy is a fantastic game for smaller intermittent bursts of play. Basically do a chapter, take a break, do another chapter, take a break. Sometimes I even take breaks mid chapter, as I go to the encampment and grind a side battle to level up a new recruit, or upgrade some stats, catch up on reading lore in the Notes I've collected, etc.

The game is very manageable when enjoyed in this manner and never comes overwhelming. Though in truth, the more I play, the more addicting it's becoming, and the less I want to put it down. Breaks are becoming shorter and play sessions longer.

Back when Fire Emblem Awakening released, I played 1 chapter per day, on average. I'd go to work and think about the events that just took place, daydreaming about the game.

It's kind of been the same thing with Triangle Strategy. This game just hits the same chords Awakening did.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)

Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)

NintendoByNature

@JaxonH yea, I get that. I did a solid 1.5-2 hr session last night. I'm starting to unlock new abilities, stuff in the encampment, etc.

Fire emblem has quickly become one of my favorite franchises. Awakening was amazing, and Three Houses was a 10/10.

I'm really excited to see how the rest unfolds.

I do wish there was a way to toggle movement area on enemies. Like I know you can see if you hover over them but there doesn’t seem to be a way to toggle it on and off. That being said I love that safe zones are shown easily and I hope Intelligent Systems steals that for later.

Really been a lot happening in the last few chapters.... Just started 10, so I think that's about halfway through the game

Yeah, the long dialogue doesn’t bug me, but it definitely would if the voices were in a different language - I just put it on automatic, put down my remote and pretend I’m watching a show. It works well.

I finished the Demo this morning, and it’s definitely hooked me enough to buy the whole game.

Yes. So much this. I thought the exact same thing. There's two notable omissions I wish the game addressed:

1 Ability to toggle movement range of a specific enemy
2 Ability to access roster from the upgrade shop

Neither are that big a deal, but I do find myself wishing the game hadn't overlooked these two features.

If the game ever gets a sequel (and I REALLY hope it does) let's be sure to voice our desire for this in the feedback survey

@BruceCM
We're at the same point!

Yea, I think I heard somewhere that there are like 30 chapters, but I don't know if that's counting how lots of them have multiple parts or sections?

The canyon battle was a close one for me. I'm starting to think I want to train up some units I've left on the sidelines. I haven't used the ice mage beyond the necessary battle with him, for instance. I went with Narve because he has access to all the elements as well as healing, but you also sacrifice some of the utility spells, I suppose.

Anna continues to be my ace up my sleeve, which is awesome because that's what her role for the House is too haha

BruceCM

I think there's 20 or so in a playthrough, @rallydefault .... I guess they're counting the number for the choices, like when you go to either Aerfrost or Hyzante?
But I haven't looked too hard into that, so I'll just keep playing & we'll find out eventually
