I can't explain it, but I have a bad feeling about this one. I think it's possible people are going to be disappointed. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm prepared for the worst.

I’m can’t remember who it was but around the time of that Mario 35 game someone on here suggested a F-Zero battle royale game which I thought sounded fudging great. Good call whoever that was!

Paper Mario is such a good candidate for a HD remaster. As soon as that rumour came out I believed it because even if it wasn't happening it most definitely should. Not surprised at all it looks as good as it does
Also the trombone game. I'm fairly sure it's on PC already but it's such a great fit for Switch. Definite buy, instant games night fodder. And FZero 99 is a great addition for NSO
Pretty darn solid if I say so myself. Year starts out strong with Another Code (this is first party, right?), Mario VS Donkey Kong, & Princess Peach Showtime in the first three months, then we know we have at least Luigi's Mansion 2 HD & Paper Mario TTYD later in the year.
TBH that's a lot of remasters/remakes & smaller scale games so it probably means Switch is nearing it's end, but at least they're keeping the software pumping.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
All the Directs this year have been pretty lackluster IMO. Feels like they're just padding the schedule with as much Mario as possible while they prepare for the next system. I'm okay with that though if the result is another great launch year like the Switch had.
Not the best Direct ever, but I'm personally super hyped for Side Order, MK8 Wave 6, and TTYD Remastered. But if you're not into any of those I can see why this Direct was disappointing.

They are adding daisy circuit somehow?!
Does this mean ANOTHER GCN track is scrapped/they scrapped one of the tour nitros from the wave?!
If so, then we likely got a BCP2 on our hands

I have to say, in no uncertain terms, that I absolutely HATE Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. The writing and characters are garbage and the game isn't fun.
People are probably reading this thinking I am a [insert rude word of your choice] and wondering how I can hate such a beloved game and fan favourite. But I just do. I am not a fan of the Paper Mario games anyways, but part of my hate is I have a young son who became very obsessed with them and this game in particular, and he would insist I play through it whilst he watched me play. I loathed every second of it, although I appreciated how happy it made him watching it...
Anyways, that final surprise announcement brought it down to a 3/10 for me. Yet another f*****g Mario game and yet another remake.
As I said, just announce the Switch 2 already. This is all just filler and padding whilst we wait for the next console.
