Wii Daisy Circuit and 4 characters announced for wave 6
The Tomb Raider collection (hopefully the others come in the future)
Side Order finally getting revealed
TTYD and Mario vs. DK getting remastered
More details on the Peach game
Though it did very much give the impression of Switch 2 announced soon, they may not even wait for the end of the fiscal year before announcing the new system but January at the absolutely earliest.
What did people expect from Nintendo? They’re clearly gearing up new games to launch on the Switch 2 and this was pretty obvious from the June Direct. I don’t know why anyone assumed there’d be any big new games?
Also weren’t people literally whinging at Nintendo for years to remake Thousand Year Door? Now it’s been announced people are unhappy!? I just don’t understand some people.

Not the best Direct ever, but honestly I didn't believe we even needed a Direct. I can't keep up with everything we got last year, let alone this year and next.
That said, very pleasantly surprised to see Tomb Raider and Paper Mario. Honestly surprised at the latter given we're getting SMRPG as well.
I can't believe we're actually getting remakes of BOTH Super Mario RPG AND Paper Mario TTYD!!! That was the best announcement from this Direct by far.
Anyways, one thing this Direct made VERY clear if it wasn't already, is that Switch is very much late cycle and that Switch 2 is coming sooner rather than later.
Princess Peach Showtime is the only new 1st party game confirmed for next year. Everything else is a remake, or in Luigi's Mansion 2's case, a remaster.
Of what we didn't know, the only games that peaked my interest were Mario vs DK, Lara Croft Trilogy, contra, and the real banger being TTYD Remaster. Everything else was hot garbaggio. I wasn't even expecting anything or even all that hyped and wow, that was pretty bad. You know it's bad when the only 4 games that peaked my interest( aside from what's already known) were remakes/ports older games. And for the life of me, I can't figure what type of game princess peach is? Ttyd saved the direct for me.
Yeah, definitely hoping Nintendo has some great stuff cooking for the Switch successor, since the only things in that direct that excited me were the remakes of old Mario RPGs which is not a good sign. The Switch has had an absolutely amazing run, but there's not much left (at least for me) to look forward to aside from Super Mario Wonder. Seems like we're in a transitional period right now.
Immediate thoughts: I need to stop looking at leaks
Seriously though that was a pretty decent direct, although I do feel a sense of slowing momentum which is fair enough.
Mario VS Donkey Kong Remake, Another Code Remake, Thousand Year Door Remake and so on makes me certain, they're shifting resources towards Switch 2
Guys we need to make sure F-Zero 99 does incredibly well ok? OK!!
Oh and can someone explain why we've just seen more uses for the joy-con IR camera in this direct than we've seen in the last 6 years!😂
I will admit that I was a little disappointed in the Direct, but all it really tells me is that there are like 3 titles planned for 2024 at the moment. They said it was going to be for the titles in the last part of the year, and it did just that. Maybe we'll get more in February.

Just checked the eShop and there's demos for the new DQ Monsters game and Star Ocean remake. Why was this not mentioned during the Direct? Did I miss it??
Anyway, this was probably the weakest Direct for me in awhile.
Unicorn Overlord looked awesome and was the highlight for me.
Princess Peach: Showtime! seemed very cute and fun.
F-ZERO 99 is surprisingly fun but its shame they didn't announce new game or remake with it.
That was kind of it me. I guess they are saving the more ambitious or niche releases for the next system.
Also, that's twice in a row the leaks have been true now so I'll stop looking from now on.
@Reprise I know this comment is directed at my reply, you should’ve just quoted me at that point.
I didn’t say “If you disliked the direct I guarantee you expected super massive games every 5 minutes you clown!”
I said some (keyword: some) people expect every direct to feature super big games and get mad that they don’t, that’s true is it not?
It is completely fine to criticize, dislike or be disappointed by the direct (I myself think this one is 6/10), but it’s annoying to see some people say “There was no tomadachi life, 3/10” or “No Metroid Prime 4, automatic 4/10” instead of giving actual reasons to why they disliked the show like “Not enough variety” “Too much filler” or “Pacing was iffy”

Currently Playing: Suprisingly, nothing.
Not a bad direct overall. Here are my personal highlights...
Splatoon 3: Side Order
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Princess Peach: Showtime
F-Zero 99
Daisy Circuit in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
I've been wanting Daisy Circuit to return in MK8D for quite some time now, as well as any word on Side Order, so I'm quite happy with those announcements. We got a closer look at Peach's game too. I'm honestly quite excited for it, it looks cute and charming so I'm looking forward to playing it. F-Zero 99 was a cool announcement, even if it's not exactly a brand new F-Zero game. I haven't played it yet, but I was downloading it, so I will try it when I get a chance. Hopefully they'll finally make a new game, especially if it does well. It's awesome that TTYD's getting a remake, though it's probably not a day one buy for me since I've played the GameCube original many times before.
So right now, the Switch games/DLC I'm really looking forward to are Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Princess Peach: Showtime, MK8D Wave 6, and Side Order. And yeah, it does seem like Nintendo's about to gear up for their next console. Hopefully we'll see some awesome stuff for it... and preferably if it's gonna be backwards compatible with Switch games.

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
I'm stoked for the new Shiren the Wanderer, Stray Children looks nuts/quirky, Another Code collection is hype, I'm always up for a new SaGa game, not sure how I feel about the romance of the three kingdoms 8 remake as I would just prefer a new entry but then again I still have to get the new Nobunaga's Ambition. Eiyuden and Wargrove 2 I have been looking forward to for a while. Gotta get Horizon Chase 2. The new Peach game looks interesting and I will likely get HOP!STEP!DANCE! eventually. PoP Stolen Throne looks good, I may get the Contra game, and will download Dave the Diver ASAP. Honestly between both the NA and Japanese Directs I have a number of games to buy. Not to mention all the stuff on my wishlist. Sigh.

@DiamondCore It wasn't in response to you. I was just browsing the ongoing discussions and getting a sense of the general tone. I wasn't picking up on who exactly said what due to the popularity of the thread and volume of posts (that and I was trying to cook, look after the kids and so on).
And I don't know to be honest. I saw someone say that it's "entitlement" (maybe that was you, maybe it wasn't) and I just don't agree. These games aren't cheap, including Nintendo's remasters/remakes.

My criticisms are:
Too much filler
Too many predictable releases
Too much Mario
Not enough variety
Too many remasters/remakes
Remasters/remakes in general aren't exciting
I agree with a lot of this. I can only do so much Mario. I think it helps that a lot of these indies aren't doing anything for me. Sure, Trombone Champ looks amazing, and I'll be checking out the Dan the Diver demo, but that's about it for me.

They've not slowed down on cool games, but this Direct does really make it clear that Switch is winding down. I think it'd be stupid to abandon Switch the second the new console comes out (though that didn't stop Nintendo from making that mistake with the Wii (and imo previous consoles before that too)), but you can clearly tell its not getting all their support of their biggest games. Like there's three Mario...remakes next year. Not new games, that stands out to me.
also lol at seeing that NST is still the dev for Mario vs. Donkey Kong. They are cursed to make these games as long as they live.
@Reprise every direct has useless filler. It was more evident here yes, but that’s probably because the switch is almost in its 7th year and there is only so much content you can milk for it, hence all the remakes.
Too much Mario? From a Nintendo direct? That’s like saying there’s too much nintendo characters in a super smash bros game. It’s to be expected after all, mario is the Nintendo mascot. I’m not going to play or enjoy every single one of these games, there is a lot, but there was a Mario drought for a while before June. Nintendo is delivering in spades to the likes of that goof Nin10doland who said “nintendo has FORGOTTEN about Mario”
The variety you mentioned comes from the “filler” games as well. RPGs galore, whatever Princess Peach’s game is supposed to be, Luigi’s mansion is a different genre I guess, racing games, etc. I don’t really understand this thinking (and that stupid trombone game haha)
Back to the remakes. It’s common tradition these last few console generations that more older games get remakes and remasters because the current console is on its last legs. All the major games planned have been released and announced already, the sparkly new stuff like Prime 4 is saved for the next generation which will be much fresher. All these remakes are just Nintendo capitalizing on nostalgia and milking the Switch’s success until it can’t anymore and sales heavily decline.
I agree, the direct wasn’t that great. There were a decent amount of highlights so I can let Nintendo off for this one.
