Im thinking Metroid Prime 4 will be the last reveal and showcase a release date of late 2024, which slots in nicely for a possible timeline:
Late 2024 - Switch successor (one from Gamescom) is released with MP4 as a launch title.
Very early 2025 - Mario kart 9 or new 3D mario released for a 40th anniversary celebration and to convince non-Metroid fans to buy a console.
At the very least, the February 2024 Direct will be all Switch 1 software. Nintendo mentioned in the last investor Q&A that no new hardware is planned for the fiscal year, which ends in April.
Unless they announce the Switch 2 in January or February... Or simply delay the February direct, which isn't exactly unheard of.
I'VE JUST BEEN TOLD I'M GOING HOME EARLY FROM SCHOOL TODAY, THE GODS WANT ME TO WATCH THIS DIRECT AFTER ALL
What mischief did you get up to to be sent home early? Were you spying on the girls in the shower, taking a poop in the teachers desk, set fire to the paints in art class or something even more disobedient?
@RuppeClock HA! I only have 2 days left to work because I'm off travelling for four months and they aren't taking me back, so I'm just going to sit at my desk and watch it.
What they gonna do? Fire Me???
I AM ERROR

Everyone complaining about when the Direct is and scheduling issues. Meanwhile I'm sitting here thinking that 10PM on a Thursday is pretty damn good. Could be better but it's certainly better than the times when it's been between 2AM and 5AM. I have my alarm set for 6AM so it could've been a tad earlier... but still, not too bad...
As for what I think will be in it? Just skimming through the comments in here I think some already aggressively disagree with me. There won't be any "Switch 2" although I wouldn't rule out a hardware announcement entirely. This is probably the right time to be pushing a "GBA-Micro" Switch equivalent. Long shot to guess that but I think it's possible and would make sense to do now. Also before I saw that Spanish tweet someone posted I was thinking the same, this could well be the last Direct before the announcement of "Switch 2"
Onto the software side. Firstly I doubt there'll be Metroid. I think holding Metroid talk until they can link it to "Switch 2" is the play. If they show it off with new hardware, even if it's also playable on Switch, both would benefit from that interaction. The safer bet is probably be some surprise GC era ports. There are probably four GC/Wii era titles everyone keeps bringing up, we all know what they are. Outside of that? Mario Kart Booster Course and probably something for NSO

@Fizza You lucky, lucky human!
I'll be out during the direct so I'll be dodging and weaving around the internet until I'm in safe in the comfort of my chair at home.
Just a few more hours, my NL brothers and sisters. What am I hopeful for? Punch-Out...something, F-Zero...something, and a Fantasy Life i release date. And with this being so close to Tokyo Game Show, I assume Square Enix will have a presence.
Final Fantasy Tactics announcement? Dragon Quest III HD-2D update? Chrono Trigger Remastered port?
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
1. Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition - just a straight port of the 360 game that is ALL on the cart.
2. Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin - I do not know why DS2 or DS3 are not ported on the system yet. DS1R was a really good port! Ok, DS3 might not be suitable but still!
3. Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia trilogy collection announcement! The Touch screen functionality reworked for all platforms!
@JONOFTHEJONS Was t the Guy Game the one made without permission of the people involved, and then got banned when one of the women found out? Yeah…. That’s some messed up stuff.

As must as I want this to be something I wouldn't read too much into it. Seems like she links most Nintendo news, she did the same with the Wonder direct the other week.
If we're doing wild stab in the dark hopes and dreams I guess I'll repeat my few I've been saying for years. New versions of Wario Land, Rhythm Heaven and Punch Out. Mario Tennis (GBC) and Donkey Kong Land on NSO
Probably not happening but if any of them do? I'm pretty happy
