I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to take a sick day. If only finding a sub was easy...
There’s an easy solution, the direct is only 40ish mins so find an “educational” documentary to show them, tell them to keep quiet whilst it’s on then put your headphones on. If you can’t find a documentary then give them a test, maybe fill it with trick essay questions so none of them can complete it too quickly.
Alright, here are some of my (mostly) realistic expectations:
MK8D Wave 6 (Locked in)
Splatoon 3 Side Order
Metroid Prime 2 Remastered/ 2 and 3 HD Port
Something F-Zero related, either a port of GX or spinoff game
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Would love a new DK game but the leaks unfortunately hint at this instead)
Silksong???

I'm like a broken record. I need a release date for the most important Switch exclusive with a 2023 release window, Fantasy Life i. Unless Nintendo are unveiling a Punch-Out port or F-Zero port, hype levels are otherwise low. Nintendo are welcome to surprise me.
But I think their release schedule for the rest of 2023 is sown up.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
What are the chances of us getting multiple Gamecube ports in the same Direct? There's lots of talk about F-Zero GX and Metroid Prime 2, I would love both games to be ported, but I don't know if it's too much to ask from a single Direct?
@MarioBrickLayer I mean, with the amount of Gamecube content we've been getting lately, I wouldn't be all too surprised. Just this year alone, we've gotten Prime 1 Remastered, Pikmin 1 + 2, and Baten Kaitos 1 + 2.

Another Direct announcement and another Direct I'll be missing due to school; I'm starting to sense a pattern building.
Glooming aside, I'm very happy to see the fabled September Direct finally get announced (I don't think I could've taken another day of this thread just being Spoiler Tag Central XD). Not really hoping for too much myself since I'm already pretty grand right now but here are a few of my predictions:
New F-Zero (potentially followed up by the shadow-drop of either GX Remastered on the eShop or Maximum Velocity on NSO)
Splatoon 3 Side Order release date/window (I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE MAN I NEED MORE INFORMATION)
Pokemon Gen 1, 2 and 3 on NSO (they've had an NSO-specific announcement in every September Direct since the service's reveal and I'd bet good money that Pokemon would be what they'd show off for it this time round)
New 2D Zelda (very much a personal hope since I adore 2D Zelda and it pains me how we haven't gotten a new one in essentially a decade)
Paper Mario TTYD Remastered (again: LET ME HAVE THIS)
I will pay good money for a new F-Zero/F-Zero GX remaster!
If it turns out to be a Super Mario Bros. 35-style game (16 bit graphics and all) then I'll still be happy but will secretly be hoping that it will be the start of more.
In terms of other predictions:
I'll just get this one out of the way, yes we're probably seeing Mario Vs. Donkey Kong but I think that's common knowledge by now.
Side Order deserves to show up, interested to see what twist it will bring to the typical Splatoon story gameplay
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 6, I'm looking forward to. Especially so we can put the character debate to rest! A October/November release window would be nice.
I have a small bit of hope that a new Mario Kart will be teased/confirmed as I think keeping the ball rolling even just a little is important for this franchise.
Arms 2 cos why not.
I have a genuine feeling that Metroid Prime 4 will be the last announcement, I think now might be a good time even if it does become a launch title for Switch 2.
This is a continual wish, not necessarily for this direct but I really think Mario Party Superstars deserves some DLC. They'll probably just release a new game but even just one more board will make that game feel complete imo.
@Fragred Yeah ikr! Now really wouldn't be a great time to talk Switch 2 when Nintendo pushing Switch bundles and Switch games like Mario Wonder and whatever they're gonna reveal tomorrow through the holidays
I would love to see HD ports of the rest of the Onimusha games, however it's been so long since the first I think that ship has sailed.
More Castlevania collections would be nice (DS games or maybe even the PS2 ones alongside that Wii spinoff, lol).
Would love to see PAC-MAN World 2 get a remaster like the first (and while they're at it, Bamco should finally release an Ace Combat game on Switch, maybe a PS2 entry if they don't think 7 would work well enough).
Maybe we finally hear more about that Lollipop Chainsaw remaster? Not sure if it's even aiming for a Nintendo release though.
