@Giancarlothomaz somehow I doubt that to be the case. Even though I strongly believe Nintendo will reveal the next console in March just in time for end of the financial year, I also think a separate Direct focused entirely on Switch games for first half of the year will take place in February or early March.

Necrolipe seen to hint tommorow Direct will be the final Direct focused on Switch software.
This I doubt. The switch is just too popular, and some games will probably be released on both the switch and the new thing. 3DS games were still announced in 2019 directs, so I think this is a flat out lie.
@TheBigBlue Yeah exactly. Assuming the Switch 2 is fully backwards compatible, I can see it being like the PS5/Xbox Series consoles where you’ll get some games that are made for the Switch but don’t take advantage of the hardware in Switch 2 but others will be on both and will have an upgrade option for the new console.

This won't be the last Direct focused on Switch software. We still have Princess Peach slated for a 2024 release. It's highly unlikely Metroid Prime 4 will be mentioned tomorrow (more like 2024). We still need Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 on Switch before MP4's release. Luigi's Mansion 2 Switch port? Most likely an early 2024 release.
Nintendo didn't stop talking about 3DS software until a couple years into the Switch's lifecycle.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
I'd love WindWaker and Twilight Princess, but I also sort of hope they get "Switch 2 DLSS" style remasters, like they did with Metroid Prime, but optimised for Switch 2 and they use them to fill the gap until the next new 3D Zelda in 5+ years...I think both of those games could look amazing with completely redone "4K DLSS" graphics.
I would be shocked if we don't have a direct in 2025 which includes Switch games, even if it's just "minor" games in the same vein as Princess Peach and the Luigi's Mansion port.
I think the last Switch 1st party game will be late 2025, 3rd party could be 2030 as those Just Dance games etc seem to keep going forever.
I think you all are misunderstanding the tweet.
“ And to think that this may be the last Nintendo Direct exclusive to the Nintendo Switch...
I miss you”
Probably means that the september direct will be the last one having only switch 1 news, now sharing it with the new system like directs during 2017/2018 from February and onwards

@MarioBrickLayer I mean, with the amount of Gamecube content we've been getting lately, I wouldn't be all too surprised. Just this year alone, we've gotten Prime 1 Remastered, Pikmin 1 + 2, and Baten Kaitos 1 + 2.
That's true, but Baten Kaitos is 3rd party isn't it? I'd be surprised if we don't have something 1st party from the GameCube in the direct, but I think 2 1st party games might be too much - I hope I'm wrong, but I think Nintendo might bank one of them for a Direct in 2024.

I was just going to say the same thing.
He's suggesting it will be the final Direct focussed SOLELY on the Switch.
At the very least, the February 2024 Direct will be all Switch 1 software. Nintendo mentioned in the last investor Q&A that no new hardware is planned for the fiscal year, which ends in April.

@Magician Dependent on the announcements revealed tomorrow, they may be able to work it that the February 2024 Direct isn't a February 2024 Direct but rather a March/April 2024 Direct. Like let's say for example Prime 4 releases in May 2024, the Peach game releases in Summer 2024 and January - April 2024 are all ports/remasters/remakes.
Well they could have a Prime 4 trailer at the Game Awards (if the 2018 rumour was true about Prime 4 meant to be shown off at Game Awards 2018, Nintendo may still owe Geoff Keighley a Prime 4 trailer), Peach game wouldn't need promoting until Spring 2024 and Nintendo doesn't really promote ports/remasters/remakes much anyway.
Meanwhile if there's a decent number of new games for Early/Spring 2024, that would give the impression the February Direct pattern continues and is only on current Switch games.
I have officially categorized my predictions for tomorrow into 3 categories.
ALMOST EVERYTHING IN PART 3 HAS A PRETTY MUCH 0% CHANCE OF HAPPENING. LET ME LIVE IN DELUSION PLEASE. Thank you.

An oddball prediction of mine is some sort of major new content for Mario RPG. I know Nintendo doesn't always include the most content in their games (lol RIP Strikers) but $60 for a port of a 20-ish hour Snes game does seem a little odd. Plus I think the 8gb file size is waaaay too big just to be the main adventure (Mario Odyssey is just 5.7,) and the box art, while a cute tribute to the original, seems way too bland to be final so I think there must be something else they're hiding for the final design. I'm thinking we'll see some new side story, in the same vein as Bowsers Minions or Bowser Jr's Journey in the Mario and Luigi remakes, but way different gameplay wise since those games sold abysmally. Maybe a new mode featuring fan-favorite Geno, perhaps?
@Noble_Haltmann unlikely, but we can’t rule it out. This is the same company the made dlc for a 9 year old Wii U game after all by adding 48 tracks. Would definitely add more value to the package for sure
I think Nintendo is selling RPG at 60 dollars US because they know they can get away with it. People will always buy games with Mario in it even if it sucks, he’s that popular.
@TheBigBlue You make a good point, surely one of them could have been used to fill the gap when TotK was delayed if they were ready.
They need Zelda content to fill the gap to the next new 3D Zelda, which realistically is 5+ years away, these are perfect candidates to assist, along with hopefully a new 2D Zelda game.
@MarioBrickLayer deleted my comment because I wasn’t specific enough. I wasn’t saying those games would never come to the switch, heck, Nintendo could be sitting on those ports as we speak. But yeah, they had plenty of chances to make easy money during the Zelda drought after Skyward Sword HD, so they are probably being saved for the new console. Quick and efficient way to drive sales up in a bind.
Namco Museum 2 (System 22 games - Ridge Racer, Tekken, Starblade and CyberSled)
Castlevania Symphony of the Night Redox
Vanquish
Chronicles of Riddick
Half Life 1 +2
F-Zero GX
Kuru Kuru Kururin Mania
Chrono Trigger Remake
Earthbound Reimagined
Rogue Leader Collection (including Atari Star Wars coin-ops)
PC-Engine coming to NSO
WaLuigi sneaks into Smash without an invite.
and finally
Metroid Prime 4
I think I have managed to avoid everything that will be announced tomorrow
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Noble_Haltmann The larger file size could be voice acting? Super Mario RPG is a Square Enix game and a fair amount of Square Enix remakes have introduced voice acting (e.g. FFVII, Live a Live, Trials of Mana).
