Topic: Monster Hunter Rise

Yeah even Nergigante was a pushover to me, like, the fight only lasted about 10-15 minutes and nothing interesting happened during the hunt. It was over before I knew it...

Then there's Magnamalo, yeah I still didn't fail the quest, but it was a village quest, and low rank, yet he was constantly taking out my health and I was wasting all of my potions. Took me about....uhhhh....checks youtube video, lol about 20 minutes. xD

_{I did try to record my first Nergigante hunt but the recording screwed up for some reason, I blame Geforce's stupid software. lol}

Idk, to me Rajang has some pretty obvious tells in this game and any hits that I took were just me not paying attention, at least when fighting it alone. In multiplayer it was chaos.

Meanwhile in World fighting Rajang was a freaking nightmare, it felt like no matter what I did it was unavoidable that I would get close to death or cart at least once.

I heard that World's Rajang had a bs move or two, I dunno, never fought him there, but Rise's Rajang kicked my butt. lol

Something I did (after already being 50 hrs in) to help my HBG usage, was I made my controls so I aimed with ZL and fired with ZR, so I could now keep my thumbs on the sticks, and fire accurately while moving (yes, I know about gyro controls, but it constantly loses calibration for me while playing handheld).

I had to re-train my brain again, but once I started getting used to it, I was glad I made the switch. (>^_^)>

OMG I almost ran out of time only ten min left. I was doing the quest learning the long sword so I can get the new switch skill and man, I don't normally catch monsters but I knew I was going to run out of time, bc some of the monsters are a little hard to kill and I want to get the tails, I was going to kill the 2nd one but I had only ten left so I caught it, but my god I hope its worth it.

@Northwind you do two palmutes? I do two Palico's I know it takes a little longer to get to place to place but its worth it to me.

I guess thanks to World I'm used to wandering around without a doggo...but also Rise's maps are smaller than World's so there's that. lol

Yeah hopefully with the expansion or something they'll do more with the dogs because right now they're just used to get around faster. I'd rather have support anyways.

Dunno why they don't have their own special moves, or types. All they have are skills, and weapon types I guess, but I haven't really messed with them much.

When do you unlock switch skills?

@VoidofLight At a point in the story at the gathering hub That ninja dude (Sorry I can't remember his name) but he teaches you how to play the game, you find him in the gathering hub and he asks of you to do quest were you have to hunt two monsters, after the quest he will give you the skill. (The quest name tells you which one you will get)

@Joeynator3000 Ya Me to so I use two palicos.

I started out doing a Palico and Palamute but I go double Palico now as well. Once you know the areas (like where there are slopes to slide on because sliding is faster than Palamute riding) and can wirebug fall well enough, you're pretty much as fast as the Palamutes anyway.

I've gone back to my old love the Switchaxe. And almost as if to spite my decision to main the Hammer until now, the Switchaxe feels immediately and noticeably better. I can be so much more aggressive with the thing and the new overhead slash is absolutely incredible. And axe mode ALSO getting supercharged after unloading an elemental discharge is so cool!

Alright, about to go to bed (my sleeping schedule is all off, lol)...let's see if I have a nightmare involving that Rakna-Kadaki. xD

Wanna save 5 seconds each hunt? Hang on to your wirebug before the countdown ends and you'll skip the ending of the quest animation. Very important those 5 seconds!

Get an Arctis 9 wireless ($200- wireless to Switch docked with Bluetooth to discord on phone) or Arctis 3 with Bluetooth ($100- corded to headphone jack on Switch docked or undocked with Bluetooth to discord on phone) and you can voice chat, mixing the chat audio with the game audio.

That’s how me and my brother do it. Not only do you get high quality audio in a headset, but you can chat via discord whenever you want. It’s an amazing headset to have for Monster Hunter Rise.

@Northwind I never go palamute and I have yet to be kicked. When it comes to players wanting to be carried I will happily help, But I only really do that after I have beaten the game. And bc of this I only go in rank 6 or 7 lobbies bc I'm 6 and getting close to 7 so I should have the gear needed to stay alive a whole game.

Is the Royal Ludroth great sword still worth making for a water great sword or should I make the Tetranadon water great sword?

One palamute, one palico. I love the traversal, and despite wirebugs and subcamps making getting around faster, they still can't compare to the convenience of a palamute.

The exception to that is farming plates. Because a 2nd palico with pilfer can increase your chances, I will be using Darth Paw as my 2nd palico for the Magnamalo and Almudron plates I need.

But when I'm not farming plates, I really prefer the well balanced approach of having a palamute for transportation convenience, and a palico for assistance and pilfering mats.

Speaking of which- I'm about to tackle my very last village quest, at which point I'll have 100% the Village. Every quest, every side quest, every picture for the notebook, every charge blade, Switch axe and hunting Horn weapon I wanted upgraded as far as it can go without high rank mats...

With the exception of Magnamalo plates and Almudron plates. I need some. After this quest I'm moving on to the Hub. I do want to finish all the 1, 2 and 3 star hub Quests I don't have a checkmark on, but after that it's plate farming time. And once I have a few Magnamalo and Almudron plates, it's finally time to engage high rank.

How do you guys get a palico and a palamute to join you?
I only ever have the dog that comes into hunts with me.
