@Northwind That is mind boggling ridiculous. Not to mention actually kind of dumb. Bringing a Palico with you on multiplayer has some major advantages. Like with the healer type and their ability to immediately wipe away ailments with a support move. I take that over simple transportation most of the times. It really helps me in a pinch vs poison and thunder blight monsters. If you have the sub camps and a weapon with some fine sharpness, I personally dont think a palamute is at all needed.

But luckily, despite some other problems finding a cool lobby, being kicked for bringing a palico has not happened to me yet.

@Mr-Fuggles777 You gotta go to the Buddy Board to switch your buddies out. They are located near the item boxes in the village. The buddy in your first slot is the one that comes with you online.

Online in Rise, just checking off 7* quests. Might do Apex Rathian/Mizutsune at some point if people show up.

EDIT: ...Never mind. T.T

@Mr-Fuggles777
You can only have two when offline. If you’re online, even if playing solo, you only get to bring one. Whichever in in Slot #1.

@Joeynator3000 It might help to be more decisive. Instead of always saying how you "might" do something, or you were "thinking" about doing something, say what you want to do, and when you want to do it. Otherwise people likely won't want to bother with it.

That's just my 2 cents (>^_^)>

@FattyWhale_42 ....Ummm, that's what I always do, and just did it a couple of hours ago....The problem is the internet basically falls silent whenever I say something.

@Joeynator3000 Then maybe it's just how I read it.

But for me, instead of:

I'd say "I want to hunt Apex Rathian/Mizutsune, does anyone want to join me?"

But again, that's just me. (>^_^)>

So what is Magnamalo really weak to anyway? Water or lightning?

urrutiap

also when I join a Gathering online hub quest, other people they do fine against something like a Khezu or even a Tetranadon but they get their butts whupped by a 3 star or 4 star Magnamalo.

The heck is wrong with people?

I haven't really upgraded my dual blades in a while, due to the fact that I sort of prioritize power in my weaponry, and every upgrade seems to just be sacrificing the power of them, at least so far.

Alright. Took care of all Low Rank Hub small monster quests. Now it’s just hunting monsters. If anyone wants to knock out low rank quests, HR1 - HR3 large monsters (both key and non-key) I’ll open a lobby.

@VoidofLight
Obviously power is the bottom line, but splitting off into side branches can often lead to upgrades you actually have materials for, or with a status effect you want or elemental damage, better sharpness (which leads to more damage per the sharpness modifiers) and later on some will have slots, which lets you gem in additional skills which can also lead to more damage, or higher damage upkeep.

So it’s not always about chasing the biggest number right off the bat. I always buy 10-12 weapons and upgrade them every chance I get down every possible forked path they can take. If there’s 2 paths, I’ll make a second and have each go down a separate path. By doing this I provide myself with multiple options, and at any given point 1 of those 10 is going to be the best. Which one is best will change as I progress. Not only that, but I’ll have 10 different weapons in three different weapon types, so that I’ve always got one charge blade better than the rest, one switch axe, and one horn. And of my three best weapons, one of them will usually stand out above the rest. Though, as long as they’re reasonably comparable I bounce between the three regardless.

But ya. Food for thought.

Beat the final boss Very very cool fight. Got lucky with a rare drop and now I've got a full set of its armour plus the hunting horn. Going to start making the other weapons and experiment with them.

Poyo! <3

VoidofLight

@JaxonH So it's better to try and go down all the paths. I'll keep that in mind honestly.

JaxonH

Oh my gosh. The palico on the mechanical Tetranadon has to manually wind it back up after it gets stunned lol

@VoidofLight
What we used to do back in the day, and what I’m sure many still do, is find a final form of a weapon you really want on a wiki, figure out which path you need to take to get there, and then work on that upgrade path. And if there’s multiple weapons you want you can work on multiple paths simultaneously.

But for this particular game I decided I wanted virtually every weapon that interests me anyways so I don’t want to spoil myself by looking up the information on the wiki. I just make everything I can that looks like a decent weapon and looks good as a weapon, and work on upgrading them all. Because you’re going to find certain weapons you won’t have the materials for unless you specifically go out looking for them, and that can be a bit of a hassle. But if you have a dozen different weapons and you just play the game normally, you’re bound to get the materials to upgrade at least a few of them without any extra effort. Then you can go back and get the materials for any of the remaining weapons you really want to pursue.

But ya, you definitely want to be upgrading at least 3-5 different weapons, at a minimum. Maybe even 3-5 per weapon type and do it for a few different weapon types. One of the best parts of the game is all the different weapons and armor sets. Take full advantage and craft everything that interests you. Even if it’s not as powerful at the moment, you’ll eventually get the materials to upgrade it and when that time comes you may find it’s now the most powerful weapon you have.

Because if you just stick with one weapon and don’t deviate at all until you can upgrade it... it could be a while before you get those mats, and that weapon could start to be seriously underclassed in the meantime. Especially since some weapons skip one or two ranks between upgrades. You might have a level 3 long sword but the next upgrade is level 6 with high rank mats. And if you don’t use anything else during that time that sword’s going to be under powered.

@JaxonH Ah alright. I'll probably start to make different weapons as well.

@Joeynator3000 lol

I only ever sharpen weapons when I'm riding my dog now. It's vastly safer.
