It's certainly challenging. I've died a fair few times already. The threat from the EMMI's is real.

This game is very scary!!!

If I wasn't already resigned to the fact that dying is a given in this game then I'd be raging pretty hard right now.

...Glad that's over with, I'd be so freakin' angry if I wouldn't be able to download and play this game at all when it releases. lol

Honestly the only issue I have so far is that I wished some of the hidden paths were more obvious, mainly with the ones required to progress the game. There were a few times where I just felt stuck like when getting to Cataris.

...Other than that...the EMMI are going to give me nightmares, lol.

Doubt it.

But Metroid games aren't that hard. It's not Dark Souls or anything. I think ppl are just so used to easy that it's a shock when they actually die a few times.

Not every time. It just depends on the game and the person's skill level.

If you think anything harder than Mario is difficult, then yes, it's difficult. If you think anything less than Dark Souls is easy, then sure, it's easy.

But there is an in between. I just watched ppl do Let's Plays of all previous Metroid games and these ppl sucked hard. And they still beat the games. So ya.

Do you consider any game where you might die once or twice against a boss "difficult"? If so, there's your answer.

But I don't think having any challenge at all makes a game "difficult". It may have a difficult end boss, or something like that, but that's pretty normal. Or at least it used to be before games because so easy that you never die.

I beat Metroid Prime 2 as a casual gamer having not played a video game since a kid, and that's notoriously a very difficult Metroid game. The one game in the series that is genuinely kinda hard. I'm not boasting in skill, I'm illustrating that even at its hardest this series can be played by complete noobs and casuals.

So ok. Fine. Metroid is "difficult". There ya go. But what does that mean? Does it mean pulling hair out like Dark Souls? Not even close. It's not even Hollow Knight difficult. It's not even as hard as DKC Tropical Freeze.

So you gotta define "difficult". I sat It's just right. Not too hard, not too easy. Just fun and engaging.

Just picked up my physical copy from town…. So excited. Played all the Metroid games so far and been waiting ages for this.
It’s my birthday today too, 49 year old gamer who refuses to grow up!
