@SwitchForce
Btw, have you ever played games on PS4 ?

@Anti-Matter If I can't take it outside under battery power and play on the go then it's not my platform. I stopped after the first gen Playstation once I was able to get the DS to 3DS games. I stop PC games as that stuck myself at my Desktop and wanted more freedom how to play and not be solely attached to the walloutlet. Some of us choose a different path for enjoying gaming and still enjoy life in general. And also to another point when people tell others to get a Life they should look in the mirror first.

@SwitchForce
Well, that's your issue.
I personally have no problem with no portability as I have the traditional style consoles hooked on TV so I will not miss a thing if I cannot play in handheld style.
I have the handhelds devices with their own games so it complements my gaming experience along with console games.
Both console and handheld games are really important for me and you choose to keep your idealism with portability of Switch.

@Anti-Matter @SwitchForce I think my boredom with the Switch is partly due to what their competitors can provide. PS/XBOX/PC have great games and exclusives and Nintendo just doesn't have that edge anymore. As a gaming handheld, I think it's the best device out there, but when mobile gaming isn't such a big deal to me, and wanting games that can run at 1080p at 60fps (not a big ask in 2023), and the AAA games on the other platforms, if the Switch 2 is the same setup, I might finally say goodbye to Nintendo who I've been with since the SNES days and probably go over to the PC master race side.

I love when people feel the need to do posts like this. I've always question why they go on a Nintendo fan site to say how "tired" of Nintendo they are and how "pc master race" is better (better be with those prices...) or how Nintendo "don't have excusives" somehow (because unless there are games that they like they don't count). I don't want to think badly, I really don't... But I always have a feel that this is a bit rage baiting. Just a tad.

Also, in my case, the Switch has so many games I can't keep up and since I play in portable mode a lot I really don't care about resolution. It maters but, unless is like REALLY bad, I usually don't care.

@jowe_gv same.😂 I agree with everything you said. I wouldn’t mind having a Switch that can compete with the power of other consoles eventually, but there is zero part of me that is bored of Nintendo, or my Switch. Too many great games.

@Mrkittyhead Yeah. I still have exclusive Nintendo games on the Switch that I want to buy/play and I'm a fan of theirs, I suppose for a casual user it would be even more. And if we count all of the games I'm interested in... my wishlist is incredibly big, just like my backlog.

Don't get me wrong, the Switch is entering it's 7th year and you can see that being the case but I still think it has a couple of years left and that it has plenty of content at this point, even if you stick to Nintendo only (which you shouldn't btw).

@jowe_gv Why would you get raged about my post? It's a valid question. I've been a big Nintendo fan for 20+ years but for the first time, I'm finding Nintendo's offerings a bit luking - compared to other offerings. Posting on NL, I'm asking if other Nintendo owners are feeling the same way. If you are happy with the Switch, good for you.

I'm not sure why you are taking this in a negative way? Some people on this site seem to be defensive about anything too negative about the Switch - like I'm calling their kid ugly or something.

I was making fun of the "PC master race" meme btw.

@Judgedean Where did you get that I was "raged"?
My post was about how I feel a lot of the time like this posts are rage baiting. I didn't even accused your post of being the case. I've been here a while and I always see people coming to Nintendo fan sites to say this exact type of commment over and over again no matter the year or games released (sometimes the same people too) and a part of my thinks that it's more to get a reaction more than anything else.

I specially thought that when I scrolled up a bit to see deleted comments because of a possible argument.
If that isn't the case with your comment then I apologise. In that case your post was just the one that I ended up leaving a comment.

I'd have thought this was a minority viewpoint, considering the reputations the end of the Wii and Wii U eras had for games, and given the amount of great games released on Switch in 2022 and those still to come in 2023. It's hard for me to relate with the idea that you were happier as a Wii user in 2011-12, or a Wii U user in 2016, than you've been as a Switch user within 12 months of Pokémon Legends Arceus, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Bayonetta 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3, Persona 5, Crisis Core, Nintendo Switch Sports, No Man's Sky, Portal 1&2, Nier Automata, Chained Echoes, Return to Monkey Island, Shredder's Revenge, Triangle Strategy, Live A Live, Mario & Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Lego Star Wars, Trails from Zero, Fire Emblem Three Hopes having released, and with games such as Fire Emblem Engage, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Octopath Traveller 2 on the horizon, plus many other announced and unannounced games.

In that kind of context I'm not surprised that some people see it as a little edge-lordy and baity. I'm interested to know what sort of Nintendo fan you are whereby those lull years I've mentioned above so easily surpass the 18 months from Jan. 2022 to June 2023.

People apparently have too much time and/or money because I haven't even gotten to half the games I wanted to play the past 4 years lol. How can I be bored of a system where I've yet to play some of the games I planned to play early on?

I mean I still play 3DS from time to time for that matter, and I'm not even a huge 3DS fan. But it still has games I want to play on it so...there you go. That's basically all that matters.

I'm not getting bored of the Switch itself, I do wish we'd get something stronger, but what we have is acceptable. But I am getting bored of the lineup. The lineup in recent years has felt significantly weaker than the first few years. This is partly due to the pandemic, but it feels like we should start getting heavier hitters again soon, there's several IPs that have been absent for years such as Mario, Metroid, and DK that feel like they're due for new entries soon and Nintendo's decision to coast on MK8D's sales and release a barebones cash grabby DLC instead of do something new and original for Mario Kart is infuriating. The star power is pretty much lacking aside from Pokemon and the impending release of TotK, other than that it feels like most of what they've been doing is niche stuff.

You can get bored of the system, if the same games are also available on other systems like PC, especially if the Switch ports have worse quality.

@jowe_gv Just the rage baiting part and the tone of your message.

All good though, asking this question on a Nintendo fan website can be like walking on egg shells.

@gcunit Thanks for putting that list together (most are also on my backlog) as an example. All of those games except for maybe Return to Monkey Island, are running sub HD, 30FPS, with cut backs to get it running on the Switch. I just got No Man's Sky, Persona 5, Nier Automata and Lego Star Wars via Steam sale as my GTX 1070 PC can run them at 1080p at 60+FPS, maxed graphics. I would love to see Nintendo first party games at their full potential.

I did buy a XBOX360 and a PS3 (along with the Wii) during that time, before selling both and just sticking with the Wii (I've always only wanted one gaming system).

Don't get me wrong, I think the Switch is great but the limitations of the hardware and Nintendo not releasing any amazing new IP since Splatoon, has made me look at other options for my new fix .

I think people on gaming sites need to take a deep breath and realise that not everyone's gaming habits/requirements are the same.

Well my laptop gets too heated playing Pacman Championship Edition 2 for too long and my brother has a PS4 for the maybe 6 games I care about where a Switch port exists and I'd feel any need to play on better hardware. (and one of those is just because the minor issues for Klonoa probably shouldn't happen on an Xbox 360, let alone the Switch)

@Judgedean Would you not say though that the Switch is better for third party games than the Wii was?

I just think you're confusing things. You've decided framerate and resolution are important to you, more so than back in the Wii days. That's why you're not fully clicking with Switch, not because of boredom from the games releasing as you suggested above, but because you're fussier about performance than you used to be. Nothing wrong with that, but the Switch has rarely been about performance in the first place, let's be fair.

I used to get pretty jealous of my mates who were playing stuff like Monster Hunter World back when that came out cuz I only had a Switch. I eventually decided enough was enough and I recently got a decent PC and it's been a blast playing Elden Ring, it's a very pretty game.

I'll jump back on Switch for the new Zelda and the Xenoblade 3 DLC when they come out, but otherwise for multiplat I'll grab stuff on PC since it runs so much nicer. Switch is great if you love the first party games and less intensive indie games but man I find it very lacking for other stuff.

Shake 'n' bake!
