I used to be a big fan of the switch, but I think that the competition has become tough. Compared to earlier Nintendo consoles like Wii/U I think it is indeed an amazing platform but most games are also available on other platforms, especially PC/Steam Deck.
Even former exclusives like Octopath, MH:Rise and Triangle Strategy got ported to Steam, and PC ports have much better graphics and performance than on Switch.
So since I got a gaming notebook the switch is only interesting for exclusives and I just don't think we got enough of them this generation. Only one metroid, one new mainline Mario, one new mainline Zelda in more than 5 years? The quality of the exclusives was also often lacking this generation, especially Pokemon, Mario Sports games and Animal Crossing. And where are franchises like Donkey Kong, Wave Race, F-Zero, Starfox, Metroid Prime?
As it stands I probably won't get the next nintendo console. They would have to really increase the quality and quantity of exclusive titles to make it interesting to me.
@chipia To each their own, Nintendo isn't crying over this loss the Switch sells for a good reasons and those only thinking hardcore gaming already missed the reason for the Switch success. But then again that's their choice but the majority sales are going to Switch and Switch games regardless of how one wants to be a revisionist for the Switch hardware or Switch software sales-it's not going to stop because it's not your Deck. Two very system for different audiences and one doesn't tie you to constant Online to use it or has games for all age/gender groups to have a multiple player on one system with multiple controllers. Something the Deck will not be able to do also the limited Deck sales more or less is a Niche product and not a production line system.
I'm probably still in the honeymoon phase, owning my Switch slightly less than two years. On top of it, at the age of 45 now it has been the first Nintendo home console I bought, before I had to play the Nintendo hits sparsely on the consoles of friends and relatives.
The Switch provides me enough to enjoy current gen gaming without wanting to buy the machines from Nintendo's competitors or trying to upgrade my PC.
More a problem to me have been the last days. I started several games, but got stuck in them due to different reasons. This whole situation makes me feel a bit depressed game-wise.
The Witcher 3: Although Geralt seems to be a cool dude, the game bored me, always showing where to go next. I dropped it after a couple of hours and resold my copy.
F.I.S.T.: I dig the art style of that game and rabbits are my favourite animals, but I'm stuck at a boss couple. While understanding their pattern, they're HP sacks, so mistakes of my part are inevitable.
Slaycation Paradise: I'm too stupid to hit the targets, already in the first stage. Although it's not the first twinstick shooter I played.
Paper Mario: The Origami King: I like its art style and I appreciate its combat mechanic, which gets a lot of flak on the internet strangely. But I'm sick of hitting everything with the wooden hammer to uncover stuff and sometimes even things I definitely need to progress. Dropped the game today after having reached the zone in the amusement park.
I hope I'll soon start a game that draws me in for a while and where I reach the end of the main story, like rather recently Disco Elysium and Grapple Dog.
Since January 2021 owner of my first real Nintendo "home" console.
Here's from another thread that tells why those saying they are bored or minimizing how much Switch has changed the Hybird gaming and how gamers play.
KevinP Fri 25th Nov 2022 #46 The Switch just wins people over. Commentators can sit on these websites and argue over it's hardware and internal components or power or whatever, but in real world use it's a blast. I hated the idea of the Switch when it first came out and thought it was stupid. I'm 35 years old and grew up with the NES, N64, Sega Genesis, etc. I did NOT like handhelds. Well, fast forward 3 years from the Switch release, and I'm stuck in an airport in Des Moines, Iowa alone for 13 hours and wishing I had a Switch like the person near me.
Then fast forward another 2 years and we're preparing for a 20 hour drive partially across the Country for open heart surgery for my son. I decide to grab a Switch Lite to see if I'll like it. After being able to play in the late hours in the ICU when he's sedated and recovering and I'm kept up at night from the beeps and sounds of a hospital, I realize how amazing this thing really is. After he's released from the hospital, we had 4 days in the hotel in isolation before an outpatient follow up before heading home. That thing entertained me and him for those 4 days. It was a life saver.
I got home and realized I wanted the OLED because of how much I ended up loving the games. I bought it and took it to our family Thanksgiving party last night to let the nieces and nephews play Mario Kart against each other while the adults prepared the meal. My siblings never liked video games, I was the only one in our family who ever really played. Before everyone left for the night, my brother and his wife had ordered a Switch online for their kids for Christmas, my Sister and her husband bought one today, and my Mom and Dad decided they want one at their house for when the grandkids come over.
So what I've learned, is that regardless of what people on this website or others choose to debate about with the Switch, it's just simply an awesome product that can do so much for so many different cases. I absolutely love mind, and I agree and consider it my all time favorite console. Followed by the N64 (nostalgia) and the PS4 (game selection).

You keep thinking games on PlayStation are only for male players.
Take a look some girlie games on PlayStation machines for female audiences such as Barbie, Jojo Siwa, My Universe games, My Little Pony, Cooking Mama, Dora the Explorer, LOL Surprise, Horse Club Adventures, Bibi & Tina, etc.
There is always the games for female players on PlayStation machines.
Switch is not defined to be played by all genders while PlayStation is only for male players as you denied the existences of girlie games on PlayStation machines.
Peoples sometimes can be bored on certain things and it's not a bad thing if you want to try other things to keep refresh. It doesn't mean something really really bad happen if you started to get bored by Nintendo products, maybe we don't see the same appeal from latest Nintendo games while the games on different machine might be caught some attention. That's the human instinct when they started to feel bored.
Some peoples like to play games like smash bros or zelda or metroid, but other peoples maybe don't like to play those games (including ne) and they might started to get bored by Nintendo for too many stuffs like that.
Honestly quite the opposite. I never finish games on my PC so I end up buying them on switch and finish them way quicker there. I think that a steam deck would probably change that but those aren't nearly as widely available as switches, at least where I live. I do kind of want a PS5 or said steam deck for more graphically demanding games that the switch just can't run properly, but since I love my indies and it's just a lot more comfortable to play on than pc for me, I'm still having a blast after about 4 years of owning one.
I keep buying fighting games for some reason, even though I barely got anyone to play against.
@Anti-Matter If you read the replies from other posters on here you would think there wasn't it's how they post and talk about it that tells something other then what they say. Being bored is life but to just say it's because of the Switch is already misleading and dubious in itself comments. And no guys have talked about Girlie games like name them on PS so looking at all the ads and development you wouldn't think there wasn't for a female or other then male gamers options. New Horizon is the only biggest change to give female audiences more game time but even then they need to do more for their female base. Also those games you alluded to also come on Switch so not sure how that differentiates the gender gamer. Female gamers also play male gender games too but then again when they go online you've seen the Abuse and Harassments they get when they play male orientated games and you wonder why they complain and don't play male orientated games.
Honestly quite the opposite. I never finish games on my PC so I end up buying them on switch and finish them way quicker there.
That's what happened to me when I was PC gaming I never could get finished and the Switch well since it can go anywhere that made the more fun factor to know you can take it with you and finish the game. Sitting down on the couch or gaming chair and not being to go place and then game when you get free time is why I liked the Switch since owning 3DS and seeing I can go place and play games without having to be at home to game made it all the more entertaining and fun to be free from the cord. And I still have all my 14 New 3DS XL versions-don't game on them as much but they were to me a god send that I wasn't stuck in one location to just game.
I think also the bored factor comes from Nintendo not creating any new IP and the hardware specs not having a big jump since Wii > WiiU. Don't get me wrong, I love the Switch, but if a game on my backlog is available on the PC and runs better, then PC is where my money goes. BTW loving Steam, with the interface / sales / achievements.
Nope. If anything, it's the one platform with software support I'm consistently satisfied with. To the point where I'm not even interested in PS5/XSX at present.
I do occasionally branch out to my older platforms, though, and play games on PC, PS4, 3DS, PS Vita, etc. Might be a different story if a Switch was literally all I owned.
Any Games on a Dedicated Game Desktop/Laptop with SLI/CF will blow any platforms out of the sky hands down. But you make a sacrifice like sitting at your gaming chair all day for Desktop Gaming or using your laptop as a heat oven to power the SLI/CF laptop at the same time enjoy that summer heatwave. So that setup has a untold downside that only those Dedicate Gamers know about. So go be bored and maybe go enjoy the Outdoors that might do one some good as well for one well-being and Health as a big incentive. But I will iterate just read a non-traditional gamers for the post #56 telling of another thread for post #46 - why all those whom would put down a low powered Switch because they are bored or says it doesn't have the GPU power. And that should be the real life experiences one needs to know why Nintendo Switch is enjoying the success it is deserved.
@SwitchForce
I dunno why are keep repeating how bad is other video game machines and keep defending Switch?
Nintendo Switch still have flaws and every peoples have different choices in picking their games.
I personally enjoy PS4 games more than Switch games during this year (Remember, I played the kids games on PS4 such as My Universe games, Epic Chef, Dodgeball Academia, Story of Seasons : Pioneers of Olive Town, etc).
Is that wrong for me to enjoy my PS4 games more than Switch games?
Am I wrong for not playing Mario games more than any other games ?
What is your deal with that post 46 and 56 ?
