Topic: Animal Crossing: New Horizons

i can't seem to find this anywhere...so i am wondering...if i have a downloaded copy on my main switch and a hard copy on my switch lite then i can play two different islands, correct? And with the hard copy it wouldn't require the 'online' verification correct?

I caught two celocanths today. First one I donated (of course); second one is on display in front of my house. I like how you can tell if you've hooked something big by how much the controllers shake. It's those kinds of details that make this game shine. I've also noticed that light quality and length and direction of shadows inside buildings changes based on external conditions, and today I realized that my character's fedora acquires a wet appearance in the rain!

Is there a Nook Miles reward for travelling to another person's island? I don't usually do online stuff, particularly with people I don't actually know in person, but if I have to in order to get one of the rewards I may have to have one of you lovely people here assist me since I don't know anyone with this game.

Just caught one myself but didn’t realize the rumble actually told us something. 😂 I wondered if mine was acting up. Good to know!! Still on the hunt for a tuna while it’s still raining.

I really hope they give us the ability to swim in the ocean eventually. Even if it’s DLC and not a free update. I loved going out on NL and catching other species.

Has anyone heard if there is more or less furniture in this game than New Leaf? And if there are any non-AC Amiibo supported? Or if there are any other video game consoles aside from Switch you can get for your home? I really want to build a game room like I did in NL!

@Ralizah Yeah I am the same way. I feel like exploiting a glitch in this game to make a ton of money would kill the point of actually playing the game. It's like turning on god-mode in other video games. It might be fun to slaughter your enemies in god mode for the first couple minutes, even an hour or two. But then it just becomes pointless because there is no challenge at all. Making tons of money via a glitch and being able to buy everything instantly, makes everything feel worthless for me.

@BrittGOAL14 I totally agree. It's a really strange omission. We're on a stinking island and can't swim?!

@Heavyarms55 well I have an arcade seat so I’m assuming there will be machines to go with it. No clue on consoles though. Hopefully they bring those back

Learned that tree stumps don’t eventually grow back into trees later. Got an island with 1/3 stump density. Feel like an idiot for not knowing that before. 😕 Stone Axe for most purposes here on.

@NotTelevision Ugh. I was lucky enough that I thought to Google it after chopping the third one... Was so disappointed. Because I was so excited when I crafted the axe. I feel for you.

It’s easy enough to remove the stumps and grow trees so it’s fine for me. Who knew landscaping could be so absorbing?

Speaking of stumps, has anyone found any of the special pattern stumps, like in New Leaf? Is that still a thing?

Does New Horizons get more background music?

I absolutely love the game. It's the best Animal Crossing yet. I'm just used to the background music changing every hour, on the hour. Where are the other tracks? The zany music was always one of my favorite aspects of the games.

I'm hoping, as my town grows, it will be unlocked. Does anyone know? Thanks for your time, everyone.

@HexagonSun Apparently you need to upgrade Resident Services first.

After that, a full set of new hourly music becomes available.

Can't wait, personally. The static music so far has been one of this game's let downs.

@HexagonSun I feel the same; I have fond memories of the soundtrack on the GC version. While the soundtrack during early game stages is fine, it does get old rather quickly. But I like how Nintendo actually uses this to create a feeling of accomplishment when more music unlocks, so that the game feels rewarding on every level.

Fully enjoying the game right now. The beginning of the game is rather slow (but due to the lockdown situation I'm playing more than usual and so I get to complete the tasks faster) but it's pretty and keeps calling me back. Got my first visit from another player yesterday.

@Ralizah Ah, great! That's all I needed to know. I figured it would happen if I just kept playing and upgrading. I just wanted to make sure. I love Nintendo, but you never can count on them doing what seems obvious and reasonable to the rest of us.

Hello all.

I have been playing for a few days now, and nothing was developing, then I realised that progress is only made with the Town Representative (that is my young daughter because she was the 1st person in the house to play it).
Been trying to work out for days why I couldn’t make any progress, now I know (just not being able to get a shovel was a real stumbling block)
Does anyone know how to change the Town Representative Role between Users? The only option I see is to Start Over again.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated

My native fruit is pears, and I have bamboo on my island when it sprouts some bamboo shoots I’m more than happy to give you some @leerafuse

Pretty sure the the Town Rep is permanent unless Nintendo adds a way to change roles in the future.
