@JereJK hey I should be opening my gate 7pm UK time tonight
Working away at the museum exhibits at the moment and trying to work out how to plan my town
Looking for animal crossing buddies on switch FC is SW-7803-7785-1593
Day five. Finished my first bridge, welcomed a few new neighbors on the island, and the museum opened. Today I'll be taking instruction on custom furniture from Tom Nook. I figure I'm...two-thirds through the "introduction period" of the game, as things don't truly get rolling until you unlock terraforming.
I assume obtaining a 3-star town rating might take a while.

Question I have it downloaded on my switch. Of course, the wife and kids took it over. If I get a switch lite can I create an island on there? Or is it tied to the account?
I'm slowly working on my island. So many things to do. I'm amazed at how other islands I have visited have evolved in just a few days. Mine is still quite "empty". I'm now starting to work on my first bridge. The store is open and the museum, too. I'm thinking about doing some gardening to make the island a bit more beautiful.
Whenever I play I keep my gates open so anyone (I have a few friends on Switch) can visit me. I have visited some islands and enjoyed buying things I don't have in my store. That's how I got the ladder!
Has anyone encountered as many wasps in quick succession like I had? I was really dancing with danger there, as another sting would have sent me back home.
I'm glad the hives stay around for you to pick up; even if you get stung. Those hives added quite a bit to my haul, so it's a nice consolation.
Stupid question.. is there a way of visiting someone’s island without nintendo online subscription? Like you could in new leaf when you go “sleep and dream”?
I guess not but can someone confirm?
Four hours this morning of chopping, digging up, and replanting trees. I've turned the second vertical layer of my town into a fruit farm for apples and oranges. I won't worry too much about making everything proportional and perfectly placed until I unlock God mode and can terraform/move buildings. But, in the meanwhile, I can now feel fairly free to chop down trees around the lower level in order to construct more houses for villagers.
@CroRock You can visit friends' islands locally if they're on the same network as you. I don't see why you'd need NSO to do that.

Just have your net equipped while you shake trees. Your avatar automatically turns towards the hive. Press A. Wasp caught, problem solved, easy money.
My first two villagers were Mac and Muffy. Muffy is a bit strange looking for my liking, but Mac is really growing on me.
@Magician
That's all very well and good, but one time I was across a river chopping wood, and a wasp hive fell out of a tree - I had nowhere to run, and I didn't think I could get far enough away to swap out my equipped item. That being said, I do often make it a habit of having my net ready, whenever I shake purposefully shake trees. I had heard you can switch tools when the hive drops from the tree and comfortably catch a wasp before they sting you, but I haven't trained myself to react quickly in that situation, so if my net isn't handy, I run!
@edhe My starting two were Katt and Coach. Moe just moved onto my island. Bettina and Wendy will arrive tomorrow... I started equipping the net yesterday when I went on my daily tree shaking routine and have only been stung once or twice when I missed the wasps. Works out pretty well most of the time!

I don't think so. I really liked the Dream Suite feature, too, as well as being able to visit people's houses collected from Street Pass. Then there was the MiiVerse community. I love New Horizons, but it's a somewhat lonelier experience compared to New Leaf.

You might have to quickly reposition your character, though. Yesterday I dropped a wasp nest, but when I tried to swing the net to catch the swarm, my character shook the tree instead, and I ended up getting stung.

As long as you're always shaking trees from in the front positioning should be a non-issue.

Part of the fun of this game for me is building up systems of resource generation. Exploiting a glitch would just spoil the experience for me. Fair play to people who feel otherwise, though.
Agreed. It's just the fact that amassing millions of bells doesn't do anything for you once your home is completely remodeled and paid off. Some people want to get that done sooner rather than later. The problem is that people usually drop the game once they reach that point. Some folks don't realize that AC is the closest thing Nintendo has to a live service game.
The idea is you're suppose to play this game off and on for years, not to tear through that progression in less than a couple weeks. But...to each their own.

I've spent hours doing things and I forgot I had to build a bridge. This is what I love about this game, you can get distracted catching bugs and fishing or chopping wood.
Today I got oranges visiting a new friend. I love visiting people!
Just curious, has anyone found any acorns? I read that they come out of trees by shaking them, but I haven’t come across any. Also no luck with pinecones.
