@vio this is a grossly ignorant view of that era of nintendo. you may have gotten more deals in some areas, specifically by the wii u's time, but they were not all about value, and i was someone who grew up smack dab in the middle of that era.
i don't think cale's issue is you having a negative opinion, rather seemingly hunting down multiple opportunities just to say "open world bad" for the 2 billionth time without anything else to add. criticizing the game is totally fine, but when you seem to keep finding opportunities to bring up the same issues over and over, to a point you gotta wonder if it's worth bringing up to begin with..
remember; your chicken parm is not safe around me!
@vio Reggie was such a charismatic leader, he did so much! I mean, he made Wii Sports a pack-in title! Geez he did a lot. Ooh, like making Wii Sports a pack-in! And he even convinced Nintendo make Wii Sports a pack-in game!! I'm being facetious, but good golly that literally all people ever bring up about him lol.
As far as being unwilling to read agreements with which I disagree, that's not the issue. The issue is people repeatedly coming to forums full of people who play a certain game just to dis said game. It's getting old (btw, that's what I meant by "forums full of racers" idk why I worded it like that but that was what I was trying to covey lol), and it's not enjoyable for anyone involved.
@squiddu-real Comparatively speaking, they were definitely more about value in the Gamecube through Wii U eras than they are now and I strongly believe a lot of that can be attributed to the old leadership. I understand they are a business and exist to generate revenue like all businesses do, but it seems they can't even throw us a bone lately.
So I thought maybe I had forgotten what I wrote yesterday, but I went back and looked over my recent comments, and I did not say a single word about open world in any of them. I don't know if you’re confusing me with someone else, but really?? 🙄Furthermore, my issues with MKW go far beyond just the open world crap.
@vio even if you didn't just mention open world the general point was there's no point in bringing up your distaste over and over if you're not gonna bring anything more substantial than stuff a billion other people have brought up with zero nuance. no need to repeat it again and again, we all saw the first and second time, please wait until the next update.

@vio@HalfAWorldAway I get wanting to have discussion about games, and looking at the pros and cons. But genuinely, if you cannot stand Mario Kart World, you can just.... Stop interacting with it. Don't play it, stay out of forums full of racers, don't watch YT videos on it..... It is not that difficult to just not click when you see something about this game — and as an added bonus, those of us who are neutral/positive about it can actually enjoy it more instead of repeatedly being told "open world bad"
This is the attitude you get when you have a differing opinion, instead of being open to discussion and talking about the pros and cons of a title we are greeting with this " Stop interacting with it. Don't play it, stay out of forums full of racers, don't watch YT videos on it"
This is the extremes we are faced with on forums, if you don't like it then leave mentality, no common courtesy, no respect, can't see views from others and accept they may be different.
@squiddu-real No one is saying Open World is a bad thing in this game, but its the way its implimented, is it Open World for the sake of being Open World or is it doing something new?, for me its not doing anything new that hasn't already been done, Burnout Paradise done all this 15 plus years ago, it was great then, but whats the hook with this new MK game thats gonna wow those that expect excellence from Nintendo.
I'm hoping there will be DLC coming in the future that will provide new experience and take advantage of the Open World thats available.
@HalfAWorldAway see my previous comment for explaining what cale said. it's totally modern internet forum mentality to immediately assume they meant "literally never talk about it if you don't like it"
also i have already said my piece on open world on these forums, i liked it but it definitely could've done with more connective tissue to make it more engaging and worthwhile.

@HalfAWorldAway@vio I'm not saying to ignore the flaws in the game, I'm saying ignore the game itself if you genuinely hate it so much. I just don't get the point of you guys constantly deciding it without adding anything new. I like it, and I keep finding new reasons to like it. Y'all seem to just keep coming back every month and a half to repeat that "I don't like the intermissions" or "open world sucks" or "there isn't anyigrav" or whatever the complaint of the week is.

Steady on, let people have an opinion, and sensible discussion, no one said they hated the game
Saw people talking about Reggie a few posts back, so I thought I'd share a pretty unpopular opinion among diehard Nintendo fans like us, that I can't think of any better place to share 😅. Time for the atomic bomb drop: I honestly don't particularly care for Reggie all that much (or the Reggienator, or whatever you call him).
Sure, he was a fine enough president of Nintendo of America with a cool quote. And he made it so Wii Sports was a free pack-in. But under his leadership, Nintendo of America was a lot more picky about what games were allowed on its platform. Once Reggie was gone, the floodgates were opened and Nintendo of America finally started allowing more niche Japanese games on their platform (they're unfortunately starting to backtrack on that now for some unknown reason, but still). Probably helps that I didn't become a diehard Nintendo fan until about halfway through the Switch era, so I have no nostalgia for the Wii and Wii U eras, other than Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl 😅.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
@Nep-Nep-Freak i do wonder if the split of ceo and coo will lead to any improvements, remember that the ceo is still working with other branches and so maybe there can be more cross-comms between branches and less random game trashing will happen... i dunno i remain hopeful.

Local splitscreen is so fun for Mario Kart World, had my friends over last night and we did a 4-player Knockout Tour. It was sick, we all placed in the top 5. A cheating Yoshi CPU cost one of us the final checkpoint, but I was just able to cut it off before the finish line to claim 1st for my squad.
@Aught-O-Matic Knockout Tour is the best thing in all of Mario Kart, and I will die on that hill! Good on ya for taking down that Yoshi haha (side note: love your profile pic haha)
@CaleBoi25 I think Knockout Tour needs more rallies to reach that kind of level. It gets annoying online when the same rally is selected several times in a row but you can reduce the probability of that happening by increasing the number of different rallies.
