Other than Kamek not being a driver (not fixed yet), the P Switches not appearing on the map after clearing them (already fixed 😀), the lack of custom items in custom races (already fixed 😀), and the grind for the Kamek unlock drivers (already much more bearable thanks to custom items, if I recall correctly 😀), the rest of the game has actually looked pretty amazing.
Unfortunately (this is kind of repeating something I brought up on the last page), ever since Nintendo of America has started canceling the releases of niche Japanese games on their platform (including Neptunia, which is some of my favorite ones 😡), I've been intentionally giving them less of my money just to spite them (although I do want to get a Switch 2 sometime this year). So I might get Mario Kart World eventually a few years from now thanks to the fixes for most of my problems with it. I just don't want to give Nintendo of America a ton of my money right now (which I believe I've mentioned in a few other forum threads, actually).
Really, it's more about me having beef with Nintendo of America, then with the game 😅.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons

I find myself still not enjoying MKW nearly as much as my favourite MK, Double Dash. I've identified one particular element of driving feel or physics:
I haven't found a vehicle (or driver / vehicle combination) with a sufficiently large curve radius when drifting. Meaning that I often end up on the inside of the corner. In previous games that was one core characteristic of gameplay: following an ideal line by endlessly chaining drifts. Here it doesn't seem to work (for me).

I think something with a high handling stat could help a little more. I always use the Biddybuggy and that works for me. The character can make a difference as well. Lower weight classes can have better handling, so using one of the babies or the smaller minions like Swoop or Goomba could help.

Thanks for the reply, you're raising a good point: Actually I've never understood the 'handling' stat. Does better handling mean understeer or oversteer? Large radius or small? Because I'm probably looking for an understeering vehicle. The most extreme example was the locomotive in Double Dash, which you could almost drift in a straight line (and combined with the active boost charging mechanic was so fast and so much fun).
@NintendoWife
I’m not sure, but at least in this game, one thing it does is give you a little more wiggle room during drifts for you to more closely hit the corner. Drifting in general in this game is definitely something that’s hard to get used to, it almost feels like the characters bounce into a turn.

@JakedaArbok Yeah it doesn't feel great yet! Like I said, in previous games there seemed to be that "invisible ideal line" that was built into the courses which made drifting so satisfying. The same Nintendo trick they use in their platformers (the "New Super Mario" series in particular was built so that you could speedrun them without ever stopping once you'd figured out the ideal line, magically bouncing off enemies and through obstacles).
Either they've abandoned that for MKW, maybe to shift focus to grinding? Or I just haven't found the right car.
@NintendoWife
I’ve “only” put about 60 hours in so far, but for drifting feel I actually really like the standard kart for most characters. I really feel like I can control my drifts (wide/narrow, etc.).
But people swear by the lighter characters and baby blooper, at least last time I checked.
@rallydefault But do you manage to do long (wide) drifts on most of MKW’s courses? I feel like the drift radius and the typical curve radius are not well matched in this game. Often you have to stop your drift in order to stay on track. Seems that you’re not supposed to attack most bends drifting.
Thanks for the hint re: light characters and Baby Blooper. I went for the heavy characters right away because they were the choice for fast laps in the past.
I played some online races last night. Some people are absolute demons in this game. That shortcut at the start of Bowser's Castle (I think it's that track) is utter madness!
Also the little bat dude (I haven't unlocked him yet so idk his name) on the ROB bike seems to be a meta combo because I see it a lot in online races.
EDIT: I managed to reach just over 7000 rating in the standard races so that's cool. I haven't really touched the Survival races or the battles so they're still just at 3000.
@Kairuuu I try to take that shortcut through the restaurant area of Bowser’s Castle every time. I also love tricking off that container on the side farther ahead past the cones to flip back onto the track past the lava ghost bubbles. World’s Bowser’s Castle might be too short for my liking but it’s a bunch of fun. It’s interesting how Bowser’s Castle is arguably wilder than Rainbow Road this time.
Swoop’s not bad or boring at all. Who would’ve thought that the cow would be usurped by the bat? I never feel an urge to play it much. My most meta choice is Fish Bone on Baby Blooper, but often times it doesn’t really matter who I play.
@Dev-N Honestly I haven’t spent a lot of time actually learning the tracks and it’s been more of a ‘learn as you play’ kinda deal so I’m not well versed in many of the shortcuts in the game but some of them are absolutely crazy. I might have a look at some of the time trials and see what shortcuts they’re using in the hopes that can maybe help me get further up the field a little.
I’m definitely not saying Swoop is a bad character at all but I definitely agree that, for all the love that Cow seemed to get pre-release, I rarely see anyone use it! I was all for Penguin before I got the game but I typically don’t use heavy characters that often. I was playing as Yoshi primarily but I’ve switch to Para-biddybud more recently but I’ve been having a blast regardless. I believe I’m also using the Baby Blooper, coincidentally!

Yea, pretty normally, really. I don’t notice much of a difference, to be honest. But again, I’ve put dozens of hours in, so I’m feeling comfortable with it.
