That's pretty good. You do have to remember though that other users might not have such a good phone or tablet. It is a real problem (for some), so that's why I mentioned it.
I was surprised how much miitomo drained my battery with power saving mode off though I was thinking my battery is huge it should be able to handle this. Luckily turned power saving mode on in the app & it still happened that day until I charged it & now it seems fine.
Yeah, I really don't know what Nintendo (and the developers) are doing with Miitomo to make the performance so battery heavy. I've never had such power drain from any app ever. It's not like it's an intensive game where there are lots of 3D objects, lighting, collision detection and AI going on.
Even 3DS games are MUCH less battery intensive than this, with a lot more going on. Look at the likes of say Hyrule Warriors - there's slowdown on the old 3DS admittedly, but there's masses going on without affecting the battery like this does.
I find the battery "drain" isn't that bad. I boot up the app and play it for 15 minutes a day, and my phone still last most of the day. I don't even have the battery saving mode turned on. Just a standard Galaxy S5
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@zitpig It's really not surprising that Miitomo takes a lot of battery power. The game runs at a solid 60 frames per second with battery saving mode switched off, even on my underpowered LG Risio. The visuals also have fantastic attention to detail. I'm no chips expert, but I'm guessing these things take a lot of CPU and GPU power which, in turn, takes a lot of battery power. Yes, the battery drains quickly but that can be resolved by turning on battery saving mode (which runs the game at 30 frames per second and limits a lot of animations).
I also don't think it's fair to compare Miitomo to "more demanding" games on the 3DS. You have to remember that the 3DS is a dedicated gaming machine and all (well, most of them lol) its software is optimized for the hardware. Miitomo, on the other hand, runs on devices with varying hardware specifications (just like how games run on PCs). Miitomo will run well on certain devices and not-so-well on other devices. That's just the way it is. There's absolutely nothing in Miitomo that shows poor programming. It's just the differences in hardware capabilities. @Starz@YouSeemFRAZZLED Yeah, I noticed that it doesn't load anymore when I return to it. That's pretty neat, to be honest. I'm using an LG Risio, by the way...

Are you serious? There are only a few models in the game and none of them should take that much CPU or GPU to draw.

Actually it's totally fair. The 3DS hardware is now over 5 years old and pretty much any mbile phone on the market has a much better CPU and GPU than the 3DS.

Modern cinema up until the digital age (and still now even) used to run films at 24 FPS - that doesn't mean that animation is cut or choppy at all. You seem to believe that 60FPS is the be all and end all. A game like this doesn't need to run at 60FPS at all. There is no need for AI checking, input checking or even special effects or physics engines (except in Mii Drop) for it to run smoothly at 30FPS. Games do not need to run at 60FOS to be smooth - as long as the frame rate is constant it's irrelevent.

Actually, pretty much everything is showing poor programming - from the length (and regularity) of load times to the battery drain.

Oh dear. Just shows how much you have yet to learn. I shall leave it at that then.

Depends on what you mean by "few." There might be far more models than you think there is. And did you develop the game with DeNA to confirm your claim?

That's not my point. The point is that Miitomo runs on varying hardware, so don't expect consistency when it comes to performance. The 3DS, regardless of how ancient it's hardware might be, still has software that is optimized for the system.

When did I ever say 60FPS means "be all and end all?" I'm just saying that Miitomo runs (on my own phone) detailed environments and objects at a smooth 60fps which taxes the hardware; in fact, my phone gets very warm after I use Miitomo for a long time. As for the rest of your statement, I don't get why it was said.
Actually, pretty much everything is showing poor programming - from the length (and regularity) of load times to the battery drain.
Is that right? Because I have a lot of apps that have lengthy load times. Poor programming much? And it's not to say Miitomo doesn't even have very long loading times.
Oh dear. Just shows how much you have yet to learn. I shall leave it at that then.
Haha, I was afraid you'd use the "I have so much to learn" argument against me, so yeah... we'll leave it here then.
My Style Level is at 18 and continues to go up. My Popularity Level seems to have leveled off at 15 though.
I still play around with Miitomo, although not as much as I did in April. Nintendo's rewards program is so lame that I'm not encouraged at all to access Miitomo as much as I thought I would be.
And did you develop the game with DeNA to confirm your claim?
No, but I have developed over 100 games - commercial and freeware, from the 8bit days right through to now, on a number of formats including mobile, handheld and pc.
@Starz Yeah, I could have sworn the animations were dropped when I tried the battery saving mode. It must have been removed with the update. Otherwise, my bad.
Yeah, I'm also one of the lucky ones who hasn't noticed much (if any) battery drain.
Then again, in addition to the app's power saving mode, I also have my tablet's power saving mode activated as well (which I have had activated since long before Miitomo).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I'm pressured because I want some of the prince and princess stuff, but also just need one more thing from the Splatoon stages to fully recreate the hideous official Inkling Mii Fighters, have only one play ticket left, and 480 coins.
Does anyone have any tips on getting the Inkling girl pants?
Miitomo was working fine for me from launch up until Friday morning. It was working on Thursday night and then when I woke up on Friday morning I kept getting error 801-0011 every time I tried to open the app. I'm on Android and I've tried restarting my phone, force stopping the app, and deleting and reinstalling it but it still doesn't work. It's very annoying because I used Miitomo a few times everyday. Does anyone have any ideas about what is wrong? Thanks.

Have you tried clearing the cache for the app? It won't delete any data just clears like the memory for the app it's built up since launch.
