1) Laps are all unique, not loops 2) Minimal downtime between races as the player stays engaged competing for next-race placement in between tracks 3) Allows for the new Knockout Mode 4) Exploration provides entertainment when waiting for players to join online 5) Provides a "downtime mode" players can relax in after a good deal of non-stop high thrills action 6) I expect unlockable secrets to be scattered all over the world, providing an engaging experience in its own right that's unique and different than anything from previous titles

Some Pokemon (story) thoughts here. Hard to tell how popular/unpopular these opinions are considering how divided the fanbase is, but here we go:
Red/Blue have the best story in the series - the reason being the personal stakes involved. It really feels like you're own personal journey - get the badges, maybe complete the Pokedex, and fight your rival to become champion. And between all this take out Team Rocket, and just have at it exploring the world of Pokemon. Sometimes simplicity is best.
Black/White's story really isn't that great. The concept is interesting but ultimately it lacks substance and I find it to be awfully paced. The journey through Unova doesn't feel nearly as organic as that of Kanto/Johto/Hoenn - it just feels like jumping from cutscene to cutscene with little of actual interest happening until the end game. Gens 6, 8, and especially 7 have similar issues.
Not unpopular, but I'd just like to highlight that despite my dislike for the storytelling in modern Pokemon games, Scarlet/Violet actually has one of the better stories in the series. I think a restored sense of agency and some good characters really do a lot here.
On a similar note about "simple" storytelling...i think BotW and Totk have great stories, actually.
I'm really tired of the Bioshock Infinite hate. I saw it again recently, and while some elements of it are deservedly disliked (especially the part the game had to retcon in its own DLC, as clumsy as that was) and it shouldn't have been as overly acclaimed as it was at release, the vast majority of the game I still think is decent to fantastic.
My feelings on it are way too complicated and controversial to discuss on a Nintendo forum too in depth tbh, but every time I play through the game or watch someone else play through it, some parts of it improve and other parts get worse. Still one of the most engaging stories I've experienced in a game, easily top 10. It is a solid 8/10 game in the same way the original Bioshock is, neither are even close to flawless but deserve credit as some of the most ambitious AAA games out there. The fact that it basically set up endless possibilities for the series in its conclusion and everyone decided "let's do nothing with this ever" is infuriating.
Switch 2 sales this week was really outnumbered PS5 sales in Japan.
But, I don't celebrate the huge sales of Switch 2.
Why?
Because Switch 2 3rd party games distribution was suck.
Game key card for most 3rd party games is a HELL NO for me.
And how could 3rd party games from Switch 2 can convince me when I see BS treatment keep going?
Those are NOT the thing I will celebrate.
I don't care with that huge number of Switch 2 sales.
I personally prefer looking at PS5 sales that try to survive as PS5 is the only stationary console I can rooting for.
But, I still have agenda to get Switch 2 when I see White bundle, a new Animal Crossing for Switch 2 and more 3rd party games in cartridge with game data inside.
I keep my handclap after I get Switch 2 but right now I will not give hand clap and congratulations to Switch 2 .
This might be unpopular, if you see a live service game that interests you, consider playing it. Even if it's free-to-play, and you don't spend money on it, play it. Once the game shuts down, you may miss out on an experience.
This came to mind because I love playing the 1995 game Jagged Alliance. I got into this game in late 2023. While researching the series, I learned about a game called Jagged Alliance Online. It was shut down in 2018, and now I wish I could have experienced it.
Really wish live service games would implement an offline way it could be played after it shuts down, but that opinion isn't unpopular.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
After heard about controversial new update from Mario Kart World by eliminating 3 laps something, I was thinking to myself that I felt granted for having more connection with 3rd party games.
When I don't feel satisfied with 1st party Nintendo games, I can always find the alternative from 3rd party games for similar games and offers something different and have je ne sais quoi.
Looks like I can always hunting from 3rd party kart games like Animal Racers, Paw Patrol Grand Prix, Smurfs Kart, etc for better alternative and have no controversial situation like from 1st party Nintendo games.
I'm different and I have different way of looking the games.
Super Mario Odyssey is probably my least favorite 3D Mario. I hate how the Kingdoms feel, and I keep getting this weird off feeling that makes me drop the game every single time I try to replay it.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Dev-N I hate how even after the in-between routes were formally called routes people still call them “intermissions.”
Also yeah, I feel like the entire reception to Nintendo updating the game to get rid of what is a literal exploit is overkill. You don’t see Zelda fans getting upset and acting like Nintendo killed their fun en-mass when they updated TotK to get rid of the duplication glitch.

Is there such a thing as a Popular Unpopular Opinion? Because this feels like one tbh
"Now I have an obligation to tag along and clear the area if Luigi so much as glances at a stiletto."
@VoidofLight I've seen plenty of people online who've been less than kind to Odyssey - sometimes for similar reasons as yours - and while that's not everyone everyone, the sentiment is brought up enough times in enough circles for me to say it's an unpopular opinion that's actually somewhat popular.
@N00BiSH I have literally never seen it in any of the circles I frequent. It's always "We need Mario Odyssey 2 on Switch 2!" or "This DK game is going to be good because it's the Odyssey team!"

It's similar to BotW... most people love it but it has its detractors. For both Odyssey and BotW, I personally don't quite sync with the 'big empty spaces' vibe. I don't hate them, but they're far from my favorite of their respective series.
In terms of opinions, its a minority opinion but a ton of people played Odyssey and therefore the minority which didn't like it also has a ton of people. And there are some 'standard' reasons someone might dislike it so they will naturally be more common 'unpopular' opinions.
"This DK game is going to be good because it's the Odyssey team!"
I would believe that. They also made almost all the other 3D Mario games. Plus Captain Toad. They're an amazing team regardless of whether someone likes any particular game.

Different circles, I suppose.
Additionally, as someone who loves Odyssey, I've never vibed with those two takes myself. I don't want any direct sequels to 3D Mario games of any kind, be it Odyssey 2 or Galaxy 3. And in regards to Bananza, excited as I am for that, one should be prepared for the possibility that it won't live up to the promise being made(though everything I've seen and played has me feeling more confident in it).
Pokémon Gen 9 is my favorite Pokémon Gen, and it's not even recency bias. I can explain why, If anyone wants to hear about it.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
While I don't agree with this at all, a version of Yoshi's Story that was closer in structure and length and played a little more like Yoshi's Island could've maybe have been the best Yoshi game. Which is still incredibly high praise for Yoshi's Story compared to what most people will say, since making a game as good as Yoshi's Island is incredibly difficult.
