@MarioLover92@Snatcher It's been a long-standing dream of mine to visit Japan. It's driven a little by my love for Nintendo, but there's many more factors that come into play. For instance, Mt Fuji. I've done a few long hikes in the past, a few years ago I did Mt Kenya... so I think it could be a real possibility. And the entire "big city" appeal of Kyoto, Tokyo and Osaka, just to name a few, sounds nice, although that's a no go for now due to COVID. And yes, I'd love to visit Super Nintendo World! I've always been fascinated by Japan so it feels like a no-brainer.
@Heavyarms55 Only thing stopping us all is this pandemic... shame really.
@Tyranexx Wow, not only is this making me feel like a kid again, but it fits perfectly as I was born during the winter. Thanks!
@theJGG Yes I'd love to explore more of Japan besides seeing the Nintendo stuff. But yeah...these days we can't really travel anywhere due to COVID. It's a pretty frustrating time - hopefully it'll be over soon.
@Sunsy Oh if that's the case, that's cool you got it for free. Still remember when Mario Kart 8 came out on Wii U, you'd get a free game with it, albeit in digital form.
@Snatcher Yeah, I'd like to learn Japanese too. Not gonna lie.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@MarioLover92 Can’t speak it but pronounciation is pretty interesting. Learnt the other day that Daisuke is pronounced DaiSkay. Just like Yusuke is pronounced YuSkay. Love the naming customs
@MarioLover92 There's no place on this Earth I love more than Japan. Closest thing to my personal utopia. Someday I shall return.
@Tyranexx We're only as old as we feel! Which is why sometimes I feel like a 10 year old and sometimes like an 80 year old. And rarely actually feel 29. lol

Okay, that's good. For some reason, I felt the need to tell you that I forgot to put it in my initial post yesterday, and I don't know why. 🤔
@Tyranexx
Oh okay, that sounds interesting. Thanks for letting me know.
Oh, really? Thanks, I appreciate you saying that, I'm glad that my posts make you smile. 😊
I tend to format my Nintendo Life the same way I format my texts, so instead of using "text language", I have more sentences that are shorter, and use a decent amount of emojis. 🤔
@Sunsy
I also remember hearing about the servers crashing for the beta as well. I haven't had too many problems either, I had some around launch but it's gotten even better with each update. I know that GungHo said they implemented a "completely new server design" for Ninjala before the day one launch, but I honestly think that they implemented it in the second beta, as it went much better than the first beta did. I'm honestly surprised with how well Ninjala runs, as it uses Unreal Engine 4, runs @ 60fps, and (IIRC) has a resolution anywhere from 720p to 1080p. (Which having Switch run UE 4 at 60fps with a "high" resolution is practically unheard of on Switch). I'm just glad that there's someone else here in the Forums that really likes Ninjala, outside of the "Ninjala Gang".🤔
Also, do you know what 4.1 does? I noticed that Ninjala updated to 4.1 yesterday, but I can't find patch notes anywhere. 🤔
@TheJGG
It's also a dream of mine to go to Japan as well, like you said, it's mainly because I want to go to Nintendo HQ's at some point and go to every Nintendo related in Japan (like SNW). I'd also like to find out more about the Cherry Blossom event and find other unique events that Japan does/celebrates. 🤔
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔
As @Sunsy said,
Ninjala Gang FOR LIFE!
Also, if I don't respond to your post within a day (or two), don't worry, I'm not ignoring you. I'm going to be busy, though I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
@Solomon18 Thanks.
Mind you, I don't think that pleasing others is a bad thing necessarily, as long as you do it of your own free will, and not because you think it is what is expected of you and/or feel pressured to do it.
But yeah, there's a lot of people who like other people to act "normal", be more like them, so less conspicuous and what not, because they don't like change or seeing other people do or become better than them. Far as I'm concerned, you should always look for ways and strife to become the best version of you. Ultimately, that's to everyone's advantage.
@SM3DASislit Haha, yeah, the curve ball comment, although basically serious was also kind of meant to (in a friendly manner) pull the rug out from under you, because things aren't always as straight-forward as they seem, so where being overly polite comes natural to some, it can also feel as pressure to others, because in some ways, they still want to fit in, regardless of any personal sentiments.
@Tyranexx Yeah, I also thought those were some decent prices. Normally, I'd tell you to either check out LukieGames or eStarLand, but I already checked myself and both sites were fresh out of Star Fox Adventures, so that's why I came up with those other results. But normally, those two sites should always have plenty of decently priced retro games, for just about any system you can think of, so either way, they're good sites to add to the favorites list.
So, I guess you still weren't able to wrestle that Wii back from the family, huh?
Definitely agreed on the point that Nintendo needs to pony up with their back catalog already, but in reality, we both know how that will go. At least for the foreseeable future. After all: there's still more than plenty NES and SNES titles that they can add to their online platform...
@theJGG I can imagine that that's how it sounded to you, but that's not really how it's officially pronounced. That's probably our Western minds trying to make sense of it and to compare it to what we know. If I remember correctly, it's not really "kay" but more like "keh". And sometimes, there's a barely audible bit in between, really short, almost like a sigh. It's difficult to convey in text, in my opinion, but if I had to put that in writing, I'd probably spell it out phonetically like this:
Dai-suh-keh
Yuh-suh-keh
Where the middle part is barely pronounced, but does kinda sound as if they separate the letter s from the two other parts, albeit almost under their breath and also quicker/more staccato than we Westerners would do, which is why to the average listener, it sounds as if they only pronounce two syllables. And besides that, in comparison, "kay" is a FAR too Western pronunciation.
Luckily, we have @Heavyarms55 in here, who lived there for a long time, and who also speaks the language, so he'll more than likely be able to add his two cents concerning how it actually should sound and if I actually have a point or if I'm just talking out of the wrong end...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@theJGG Hi! So you're pretty close. Close enough that most Japanese people wouldn't mind. So long as you don't pronounce the U. If you say "DIE-SU-KAY" or "YU-SU-KAY" you're gonna get weird looks. In general Japanese pronunciation is pretty easy to pick up because each hiragana or katakana only represents one sound. As opposed to our alphabet where one letter can be like 28,976 different things depending on usage. However there are a few places where certain vowel sounds are dropped, like in these names, or where vowel sounds run together. Which you just kind of pick up through practice. Most of those came about, to my understanding, simply out of convivence. It makes saying certain words faster or easier. One of the best parts of learning Japanese is that things are always spelled how they sound. No nonsense like "bologna" that looks like it should be pronounced "boh low gu na".
But for reading Japanese Kanji is difficult for us westerners because it's a different process. For English, if you see the word "eat" you see the characters, know the sound, and that gives you the meaning. If you see 食べる(taberu) in Japanese, you see the Kanji, know the meaning, and from the meaning you get the sound. That first character in it, depending on what word it is used in, can be pounced differently. For example: 食う(kuu)
@ThanosReXXX Hey, I was actually just thinking of asking you something when I saw the notification. Do you have any experience with those aftermarket HDMI dongles that are supposed to improve the picture from a Switch on 4K TVs? Or do you know anyone on this site who does?
@MarioLover92 You're welcome! I love Frosty The Snowman; it's hard to beat some of the classics.
@PokemonGirl99 Good luck! I'm curious to see how you handle those crazy eco-terrorists.
Also, a good information source for pretty much anything Pokemon is serebii.net. Some of the site format isn't too mobile-friendly (though they've taken some decent steps in recent years) if that's your preferred way to browse the internet, but their video game, generational Pokedexes, and anime databases have helped me out a lot! There are also other resources out there, such as Bulbapedia.
@Heavyarms55 Haha, I only say 29 is my physical age! My mental age tends to vary depending on the day and task at hand. It ranges anywhere from a ten-year-old kid to various age ranges in "Dang I'm old/tired" territory lol. The day my inner kid dies will be a sad day indeed, so I hope that doesn't happen until the rest of me kicks the bucket.
On text language: I'm just glad you use actual words, not really shortened forms of English. That's one of my many OCD triggers. I can tolerate L33t any day over a soupy mess of very clipped words, acronyms, and full strings of emojis. I can read it, but it drives my brain crazy. XD
@ThanosReXXX Funnily enough, I've just recently run across LukieGames on my Professor Layton crusade; I'm planning on using them for future acquisitions if I can agree with them on price. XD That site definitely made it into my bookmark collection. eStarland I've heard of through their third-party outlets on places like Amazon and Walmart's websites, but I've never interacted with them. I'll be checking them out as well. Thanks!
Still no Wii; it was approaching a done deal until my sister and fiancee started using it on occasion whenever he's over. Out of the question for now I think, but hopefully it's on the table in the future.
Yep, Nintendo makes their back catalogue available at about the speed I'll pick up that Wii. XD To an extent I get it - these things take time, and I know the pandemic hasn't helped matters - but I'd much rather them put out [Insert very popular N64/GCN title here] over [Insert obscure S/NES title five people will play]. Not that the latter doesn't deserve a chance as well, but I don't think they should be as much of a priority.
A final note: I ran across an article a little bit ago about some unrest going on in your general vicinity. I hope that you and yours are doing okay and are safe.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Just gonna drop this here @Nintendolife you need to cover this.

@ThanosReXXX@Heavyarms55 Thank you both! There was ultimately zero harm in commenting for the pursuit of knowledge so hopefully I won’t get dubious looks if I mispronounce things of Japanese nature. There’s a ways to go until, or if I, visit, so it’ll mean more time to learn.
There’s a stereotype that some people learn Japanese just from subbed anime. I’m not that kind of person...yet. I’ve only seen one anime; Persona 4 Animation and that had the rare distinction of having one of the most high quality English dubs for any media I’ve seen translated from Japanese.
There’s enough Japan around in the air of pop culture that I’ll pick up a thing or two but the anime thing’s gonna wait. Thank you both, appreciate it!
Watched Wonder Woman 1984 recently. Awful movie. How did DC go from Joker and Aqua Man to this? At least Gal Gadot was great( sucks she was stuck with a terrible script) and looks beautiful as ever.
I hope Roberts Pattisons The Batman doesn't receive the same fate.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
@SM3DASislit Considering the engine, I was really surprised how well it ran too. Can't say I noticed anything, didn't see anything in the news update aside from 4.0. I have a feeling it may just be a minor bug fix, but that's just my guess.
@korosanbo
Everytime i saw that transformation, it was like an amateur fan made transformation that made me giggle. 🤣
It looks so cheap and fake.
Luna became Sailor Senshi was like WTH?! 😂
But Tuxedo Kamen transformation was like ROFL. 🤣🤣🤣
