@NotTelevision dude...slow cooked ribs sounds better than turkey. By Christmas, I'm usually "birded out." Between rotisserie chickens, duck, and Turkey, a slab sounds lovely. We usually just order a couple pizzas and I'll make some appetizers for new years. But maybe ill throw some ribs in the mix too

Edit: i realize you were talking about Christmas eve and not nye my apologies. But yea for Christmas eve, we usually do fish of different kinds and pasta usually. Even that gets old lol

@NintendoByNature No problem man. I’ve been having better meals on Christmas Eve than the actual day for some reason. I’ve been in the habit of just sleeping in and putting on some Jim Henson special on the 25th.

Pizza is a good call though. Comfort food and easy to share.

Must be fun with a kid all excited about Santa coming.

What’s Santa going to bring this year? You must have a hinted something to one of the elves by now.

@ThanosReXXX We may be acclimated to huge text walls, but most of the internet thinks we're insane, and I can't help but think that such huge text walls are overwhelmingly intimidating to Anti who's probably struggling at handling so much of a shaky second language all at once...that might actually be confusing the point rather than helping it. His English may be waaaaaay better than my Japanese, but I can only imagine someone posting a wall like that and me being like "pfft...I'll get to that by Spring sometime... maybe I'll skim a few parts and figure out the rest later"

@Zuljaras You mean you aren't planning to keep and display your creation? Madness!

@NotTelevision Christmas eve has always been a bigger celebration for my family growing up. My wife puts more into Christmas day which is nice so there's not really a problem seeing both families. Eve is usually a big Italian feast( by my mother's or grandmothers, although this year is my aunts), day is usually by my house because we have the kids and it's alot easier than us lugging back two car fulls of gifts for the kids. I typically make the usual ham, Turkey or roast of some kind. Think last year I made a huge slow roasted pork with garlic and seasoning, dumplings, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, and as usual a side of pasta.

As for santa and his sleigh, the 11yr old Is getting some tix to either a bulls or Blackhawks game( haven't bought them yet as were trying to pick a day), along with some other small stuff, the 6yr old is getting some lol doll stuff (dont ask 😅), and the little guy is getting trains, cars, and dinosaurs ( his new obsession). As for me, I threw a couple hints in the ol Amazon cart. Well see what santa brings me 😉

I was thinking about being a bit more eco/nature-friendly, this Christmas, so perhaps we'll start off with a faux shrimp cocktail made from mealworms sauteed in shrimp essence, topped with some whiskey sauce, then some veggie-stuffed Tofurkey rolls with a side of cole slaw & spiced potatoes, and fried grasshoppers in cherry-chocolate sauce with a vegan vanilla mousse for desert....

Nah, just kidding. It's going to be MANY pounds of all kinds of meat and fish, with some veggies on the side for good form. This will be starting from the first Christmas day, right up until New Year's Eve. And of course lots of beer, wine and Bacardi & Coke. And obviously also a spot of Champagne, to celebrate the transfer into the new year...

@NEStalgia Nah, the trick is in the spacing of the text, so that it becomes a bit more easy to digest. Something you definitely still need a spot of, every now and then...

And we've already resolved the issue, which you might have noticed, if you've browsed through the next couple of comments that came after the one that I directed at you. Or even easier: the comments starting at #37,685...

NEStalgia

@ThanosReXXX Cole slaw? Do you have any idea the carbon footprint the chickens raised for the mayonnaise produces?! Are you, like, intentionally a serial killer? And Tofurkey is produced by a corporate entity that supports some guy I heard about in a Gawker article in accounting that looked at a female once. And he plays Sword/Shield! I don't know how they're allowed to stay in business, but I started a change.org peition to force them to publicly apologize and incorporate sensitivity training for each employee and synthetic bird. I am responsible and only buy generic tofu turkeys from Whole Foods. It's only $83 for a whole bird approximation if you can get it on sale. Stuffed with kale-fing and acai berries, of course!

@Zuljaras I do indeed like it, or, more specifically, and impressed with your sculpting & painting skills! I just can't imagine crafting something like that and not hanging onto it after making it to admire the fruit of my labors. Or is crafting that sort of thing something you do often?

NEStalgia

Zuljaras

@NEStalgia This is my second sculpt from polymer clay.
And I intend to do more and often
If you make it with the thought of being for someone else it is ok.

The only restraint I see is time. So many things I want to do and so little time.

ThanosReXXX

@NEStalgia You did read the spoiler, right?

The Rise of Skywalker was so disappointing
If anything it proves that the sequel trilogy should've had a roadmap before The Force Awakens even released
And this is coming from someone who really liked The Last Jedi personally.

I'll end up seeing The Rise of Skywalker just to round out the Trilogy. Then slide the others in somewhat soonish.

TGIF! Christmas is almost here! Not looking forward to some of the usual family drama, but for the most part it should still be a good time lol.

I also broke my game buying embargo earlier for TMS #FE on Wii U.

@Zuljaras You definitely have talent at sculptures. I know I could not get something that actually looks like the intended object If that's only the second one you've done, that's just incredible!

@ThanosReXXX Of course I did. You didn't honestly think I was buying $83 generic tofu turkey approximations at Whole Foods did you? The Trader Joes ones are only $68!

@Tyranexx "TMS #FE" YESS! You won't regret it

NEStalgia

Zuljaras

@NEStalgia Thanks. It is ok to say that you like it but don't want it. If you want it I could send it Monday and it would probably take a month to get to you. Also I have never sent a package abroad before so that will be a first.
If you don't I hope that someone else here would take it as I made is for this community.

ThanosReXXX

@NEStalgia Well, honestly, with you, one might never know for sure...

@Zuljaras a MONTH?

'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'

Tyranexx

@NEStalgia I debated about just waiting to see the full additions for the Switch version (and waiting for the price to drop) before making a decision. However, it's hard to ignore the fact that new copies on Amazon are going for about $19 right now.

It's slightly less content, but the game has a long enough running time as is IMO (according to HLTB). The price difference for slightly less stuff is too sweet to ignore. Plus my Wii U is still hooked up for the occasional VC fix.

@Tyranexx Ah, TMS #FE on Wii U, the right version...

Now all you need to do, is hack the Wii U and add the "revert to original version" patch, so you can play the story as it was actually intended: as an explanation of and/or criticism of the whole Japanese idol culture.

In all fairness, that's only one part of the game, but it IS essential to the (original intent of the) story as a whole and it ties in more nicely and makes more sense in combination with the rest of the game than what they've bastardized it into in the Westernized version.

Tyranexx

@ThanosReXXX That'll be a priority down the line. Honestly I'm not even sure when I'll get to the game right now. XD

The costume changes and whatnot don't bother me. It's when they change chunks of the story like you mentioned that I put my foot down. I don't think the game as a whole deserves some of the hate it's getting online though. Constructive criticism yes, but I'm sure it'll get review bombed in a month's time.

I had an unusual encounter with a deer this morning. I get a lot of nocturnal deer activity in my yard, but I rarely actually see them. I can hear them at night, and see their tracks and trails in daytime, but I normally don’t see much of them. This morning, I went out to warm up the car, stomping down the brick path, keys jingling in my hand, and right as I’m about to unlock the garage door; I sense a large creature nearby. I looked to my left, and there was a large doe staring at me right on the other side of the fence. Maybe four feet away. I could tell she was as surprised to see me as I was her. No idea how she didn’t hear me coming. I said good morning, and she let out an enormous snort and walked away. I could feel her hooves hitting the ground through my feet. Deer are huge and powerful.

@bimmy-lee maybe she was just checking the traffic report for Santa. Or.....planning to steal your car. I guess we'll never know...
