Keeping things to replies only until further notice. Conference has been good so far and I've done a bit of sightseeing, but today has been/is a full one.
@KarateLuigi What I listen to depends on my mood and what I'm doing. I'll choose video game soundtracks if I'm working on something that requires a lot of concentration as (like you mentioned) they aren't usually obtrusive or annoying. I'll do my normal rock/metal music (along with game music sometimes; it really depends on what I'm up for) during my free time or if what I'm working on doesn't require many brain cells.
@NEStalgia For me, the irritating sounds typically involve chainsaws, morons doing burnouts or gunning their engines just because they feel like it, or incessant barking. I like dogs and totally get that dogs bark, but when they're doing it every waking moment they're outside...ugh.
I do expect office environments to be quieter normally, though I expect some talk now and again. Just not loud and obnoxious.
@ThanosReXXX I used to be more into pop when I first became really aware of music (preteens), but then gravitated into light rock, which then led into heavier rock, some electronic rock, and some forms of metal. The heaviest I'll listen to is metalcore with some screamo, but I'm not into full-on screamo. XD Probably the heaviest groups I listen to are Bullet For My Valentine and All That Remains.
I do also like some classic rock and can still do some older pop. I'll even listen to a classical piece on occasion. But Country music (or what passes for it these days) and straight Opera? Nope. The amount of Country songs I like can be counted on all my fingers (discounting thumbs). I can tolerate some Bluegrass on occasion, but a little goes a long way. I have to be in the right mood for it.
@NEStalgia I occasionally joke that I probably would have been emo goth if I didn't love Jeans/T-shirts and dislike wearing makeup so much. XD I do own makeup but only wear it for really formal occasions or interviews. I find it a hassle and a waste of money otherwise.
I DO like older Evanescence songs, if that means anything....
@NEStalgia Evanescence, along with Linkin Park, 3 Doors Down, some Nickelback, and Three Days Grace are all partially responsible for pushing my musical tastes in a certain direction. Along with arguably way too much Guitar Hero exposure....
Edit: First ten randomized songs in my Liked Songs library of Spotify, if they're any indication of how weird my tastes are: Awake (Godsmack) Fully Alive (Flyleaf) Alone (Bullet For My Valentine) Zero (Imagine Dragons) Last To Know (Three Days Grace) Thief Reborn (Rozen) Kryptonite (3 Doors Down) Ebay (Weird Al) Eyes Wide Open (Staind) Rise (Skillet)
I got a little Sony five disc turntable in seventh grade to make the jump from cassettes to CDs. The first two discs I ran out to buy? Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Greatest Hits Volume One, and Shaq Diesel. Wore them out too.
@NintendoByNature My first album was Counting Crows “August and Everything After”, but at one point Blink-182 was my favorite band. 😆
Now it’s pretty hard for me to listen to Tom’s exaggerated So-Cal singing style without breaking out into laughter.
