@ThanosReXXX - There’s too many flavors. Keep ice cream pure. Vanilla only, Ha! Listen, everyone knows that cherry chocolate chip is the best ice cream flavor, waffle cones are the best method of delivery, and malts are better than shakes. Anyone who disagrees with that is wrong and can go to...

You’re the only one here who should be worried about the sun becoming a red giant. As an immortal Titan, you’ll see the end of our solar system in five billion years, and you’ll drift about space pinging off debris and asteroids until you finally land on a new rock to call home, which could take five billion years itself if you’re unlucky. On the bright side, there’s no crying about Pokémon in the silence of space.

@BruceCM Haha, they probably will! Whether they do or don't, it's no skin off my back! Not my money. XD

@bimmy-lee I love your perspective on this lol. A company can't please everyone, no matter how hard they try. They need a poop sandwich!...or some of my haunted house's "secret sauce". XD

I personally like the concept of the Wild Area; it's a happy medium between giving the player some of the freedom of an open world game without going completely off the rails. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm not fully on board with some open world games due to how time consuming they can be. Don't get me wrong, I like freedom in my games, but IMO there's a such thing as too much freedom.

While Pokemon is a good franchise to test the waters on this, some people seem to think everything should be open world in this day and age. Not only is that not feasible for some franchises and genres, but sometimes to me it just feels like empty padding.

@Heavyarms55 The one in which you expressed your frustration over people commenting on the game while not even having played a single second of it, while also tackling the opposing views thing, if I remember correctly. In any case, you vented your frustration, and at that point in time, while reading all the idiotic comments, I was feeling the EXACT same thing.

EDIT:
It was this comment of yours...

@bimmy-lee Ha! I'll just move to the astral plane, or another dimension, or simply another galaxy. The Big Crunch, though.... That's gonna be a tough one to escape...

@NEStalgia I actually already beat you to "the apocalypse actually IS scripted" thing. Do you ever actually read ANY of the comments posted before your own?

Maybe you actually should use that "shut down the internet" button that I gave you yesterday...

Octane

To be fair, the Sun exploding will just be a tiny fart on the scale of the galaxy. And hardly noticeable in the universe. So it's hard to call it ''the end''

Octane

ThanosReXXX

@Octane That entirely depends on where you're standing when it happens. A "tiny fart" when seen through a telescope from another galaxy maybe, but an absolute and completely devastating apocalypse on this side of the lens...

I’ll be dead by then, as will hopefully be all currently known life on earth, so whatever.

@ThanosReXXX Heh, this is what happens when I reply to this thread between work pauses. More replies inevitably show up. XD NL email notifications seem broken for me again.

I haven't personally played the game but did find an article out there that highlights the localization changes/censorship. The game is apparently rated T, so I'm assuming some of these changes were made in an effort to avoid an M rating and its equivalents. Not that I agree with that; they should have kept a lot of it like it was.

I do understand legit parental concerns, but there are ways to manage kids potentially seeing or not seeing that sort of thing (or not even get the game at all). I'm not a parent, but I definitely wouldn't play something like that if one of my young cousins was around.

I'm somewhat interested in the game due to some of the mechanics and find the story's premise interesting, but I like RPGs in general. With JRPGs, like any game, I do research in advance to know what I'm signing up for. Trust me, things like panty shots do absolutely nothing for me. They usually earn at most an eyeroll. If that was all the game was about, I wouldn't touch it, but there seems to be so much more to it than that. I may pick up the Wii U version in the future since it's pretty cheap right now and isn't too significantly different compared to the Switch version.

@StableInvadeel I know, and I already mentioned that earlier, in my original reply to Anti, but regardless of that, it's still not really fitting to compare it to a "tiny fart", even in the grander scheme of things. It's still a super nova, or at the very least a dying star, which is never a small thing.

@Tyranexx Well, aside from the few flashes here and there, this is not exactly a fan service type of game, and it actually IS a very good game, so you might want to look into it after all. @NEStalgia explained it best in this comment, both venting the frustration that interested people feel about this, while still trying to enlighten the uninformed. Probably still won't do any good though, because these people have some weird kind of single-minded blockade in their heads, which defies any logic trying to penetrate it, but I'll still give him props for giving it a try...

Anti-Matter

Actually, we were the witness of a "New" star in the sky. It was so bright so we can saw it with naked eyes in the morning. After 2 years later it started to fade out and disappeared.

It was Not a New Star. It was a SUPERNOVA from another galaxy that formed into Crab Nebula. It was happened on year 1054

@ThanosReXXX Right, I DO get the impression that it's a really good game; I've had a couple of users here even suggest that I play it! It's previously flown off of my radar a bit simply because there are so many other RPGs out there and because it was a later Wii U release.

I didn't mean to imply that I thought this was strictly a fanservice game; if that was all it was, my interest would have waned a long time ago.

@Tyranexx Ah, sorry, my bad. Kinda misread your previous comment. That's what you get when you're trying to explain your way out of the "Nintendo offers refunds for destroyed Japanese game" thread, while being angry/annoyed and still trying to be as polite as you can at the same time, when commenting, especially to the people in this thread, who have nothing whatsoever to do with my frustration at this very moment...

@ThanosReXXX Bah, the thread moves too fast. By the time I start and finish writing my post there's already 10 others. Especially since forum threads don't auto-rerfresh like the comments do!

Edit: Plus email notifications have been broken for the past day or so, so I am missing a lot of replies to me!

@Tyranexx I highly recommend TMS#FE. One of my favorite game experiences to date. There's not really any "fan service" in the game, not the way you're thinking from some JRPGs. It had a few moments here or there as J-anything does. But its only real "fan service" is in the context of what the idol industry itself contains since it's a game about idols. The FE elements are very very very very light, it's mostly just "a lighter hearted Persona without as much social sim." It tries to hit on some deeper issues at times....part of that is what got censored out. Mostly it's a fun romp with memorable characters and a glimpse inside an idealized pop industry. Plus monsters because reasons. Tiki is adorable and I want to adopter her, though....best Tiki version ever.

LuigibrineTheGreat

That is sad that they covered it up. I, for one, am a fan of letting fan-service fly! Some people just don't understand that if you have it, you should flaunt it.

Believe it or not, while I am a (kinda very) right leaning person, I have my left leaning views.

P.S.: NOT meaning to endorse any sort of shota or loli anything!

Be yourself, no matter who you are!
For me, that's being madly in love with fictional characters. Plz don't judge.

@Andrew_R_2000 There really wasn't much in the way of fan service in any version of the game, ever though. There was one up-skirt they did change. But the rest of the consumes that were changed didn't need it, even for puritans. That's what's so weird about it. The changed costumes were tame by typical prom dress standards. That's why it's so weird with this game. And the whole chapter 2 thing was just....changing it made sense...what they changed it to did not make sense. The theme didn't need to go, just the details, not because it was too risque, but because it didn't really make sense outside Japan....but an alternative that kept the meaning could have been done.

I'm still convinced it was all a product of keeping the ESRB rating as low as possible, and spending as little as possible on certifying it, so they just cut EVERYTHING to make it a Smurfs Go Camping game just to be SURE they only had to pay for one cycle.... Gutting it in Japan, now, I assume is also just cost minimization for a game they feel they're sending out to die.

NEStalgia

Tyranexx

@ThanosReXXX No prob! Tbh I was worried I misread your own meaning a bit. I've refrained from commenting in that article; even before clicking into it yesterday, the amount of comments alone served as a sort of storm warning....

@NEStalgia "Monsters because reasons" is one of the selling points for me, funnily enough. XD As I mentioned earlier, I'll likely skip the overpriced Switch version at this point as I don't feel it adds much but will probably hunt down a Wii U copy since it's significantly cheaper on Amazon right now. Darn it, yet ANOTHER JRPG I need to play.... XD

Many compliments on your post in that article that @ThanosReXXX linked by the way. I admittedly didn't read TOO much into said story change in fear of spoilers but knew it was enough of a drastic change to where I understand why gamers are incensed. I knew about the localization changes themselves but didn't know that what was changed was such a meaningful commentary on an aspect of Japanese pop culture; said aspect doesn't exist in the West to that extent, and I appreciate that you took the time to explain that and also offered a more reasonable alternative on what Atlas COULD have done there.

I can vaguely understand why some people just clicked into the article and commented WITHOUT RESEARCHING THE FULL CONTEXT FIRST of why some people are complaining; previous whining over such changes was often over something small and insignificant to a game, examples of which you did also cite. That of course doesn't excuse lack of research and reading comprehension by any means.

Of course, Pokemon Go adds a mission that requires you to use absurd amounts of berries just a few days after I threw most of mine away to make space in the backpack.

Sigh...

@Tyranexx Thanks! Don't worry, there's no spoilers in there.

Besides, you can't spoil something that has no story value at all....it's now a disposable chapter you slog through and ignore because it's kind of story irrelevant now.

TL;DR NoA's idea of localization here was: Instead of a social commentary on the underbelly of the Japanese entertainment industry, make a chapter about characters feeling good dressing up as Bootsy Collins in public.

Edit: The funny thing is the dungeon is still plastered with pinup Polaroids of characters vaguely in bikinis. Which REALLY makes the whole rapper clothes thing bizarre and nonsensical.
