This should have a discount right now in Europe as noted in the weekly download news, right? Well, it doesn't show yet in the eShop itself. Error in the press release maybe?
Yo-Kai Watch 2 is out in North America now. After not playing the first, and reading some reviews calling it the "definite version", I decided to get this one. The battle system, I'm afraid, is not something I'm ever going to get used to though.
One question though if anyone can answer me. I'm playing this on my older 3DS (cartridge) as I didn't want to potentially scratch up my New 3DS's screen while playing this, plus sometimes I like to alternate between my 3DSes when one is charging. Only now I think I'm starting to regret doing that. The game informs me that some data is saved onto the SD card, and "tampering" with this data could corrupt the save data. I assume playing this on another 3DS without the SD card data would count as "tampering"? Does this mean I cannot play this on my other 3DS if I choose to?
I've been playing Yo-Kai Watch 2 all weekend and having a blast! I thought the first game was... okay, but this title really stepped up the game in a lot of ways. Though if you hated the first game, nothing in this game is going to change your mind on the series.
The map is so much better, recruiting monsters is so much easier, and there's at least three times as much content compared to the first game with the main story being almost twice as long for me. And I've hardly touched online battles and Blasters!
There are SOME nitpicks I have though. But that's just the new terror time and the train, and they have their quirks to make up for some poor design choices.
Really looking forward to what this site thinks of the game, I doubt the review score will be much higher than YW, but there's no real reason for it to be lower either.
Good to hear the sequel is still worth it. I hear the 3rd game really turned it up an extra notch, though. Hopefully I'll be able to get to this before that's out.
@CanisWolfred Yeah, I'm a bit bummed (and honestly find it a bit scummy) that we get these games when a superior version already exist.
However, the 3rd game (along with the other spinoffs) is only getting localized if this sells well, and I want to support it. It just seems like we're going to have to play by NOA's rules to get the games we want. People in japan have said that the 3rd version adds more than enough to be worth the second purchases, at the very least.
@Seacliff I wouldn't say it's scummy, it's just extra annoying in this case, because they are flawed (albeit still fun) games. I've seen the videos for the new combat system, and it's at least logical and significantly less hectic than the watch wheel thing we've put up with so far.
@CanisWolfred Oh, I'm not talking about Yokai Watch 3, I'm talking about Shinuchi. Which is basically the Crystal/Emerald/Plantnium equivalent of Yokai Watch 2.
I guess I got confused when I heard the '3rd' game. Typically I think of the reduxed version when that's brought up with Pokemon.
I actually forgot about Shinuchi. Part of me wants to wait for that instead since it's the definitive version, but I also want to support the franchise and want it to do well....hmm.
Currently playing: Ys X: Nordics (Switch), SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch)
@Tyranexx I'm not going to force anyone either way, but Japanese reviewers have said that Shinuchi adds enough content to warrant another purchases. That's why I was willing to buy one of these two.
And even this game has a TON of content on it's own. I'm 30 hours in and there's still a lot of things I'm just learning about, let alone elements I've yet to touch.
@Seacliff: Fair point. Are you at least done with the main story? I love RPGs, but they take me awhile to finish since I love exploring and talking to everyone, lol.

@Tyranexx Your going to take a while with this one then. XD
The game took me around 24 hours to beat the main story (there's a bit of plot continued in the post game though, not done with that yet.) For reference though, I finished YW1 in 13 hours, so I obviously don't go out of the way for sidequests too often.
And I won't blame anyone for waiting for Shinuchi, since that's exactly what I recommend my brother doing if he didn't feel like playing the same main quest twice.
