I've spent just over 20hrs on it so far. Still early in the game as I'm leveling up my Yokai. Gotta' say I'm enjoying it so far. Having not played a pokemon game since Red/Blue I'm unable to give a comparison. What I can say is there's a fair amount of exploration, fetch quests and collecting which suits a wandering obsessive-compulsive such as myself. The battle system sure is unique but once accustomed it flows. It's surprisingly deep and strategic when you consider the different tribes, element alignments, attitudes(which consist of two categories), skills, basic moves, soultimates and inspirits(buffs/debuffs). It has a distinctly Japanese flavour to it, from the setting to the social dynamics, the humour and character. The first few minutes gave me an Attack of the Friday Monsters vibe albeit in a modern setting, which gave way after my first battle. The 3D effect is great. The music hasn't gotten annoying yet. There are little extras like Yokai cam, qr scanning, streetpass, spotpass as well as local and online (which I haven't tried yet) battling. All in all, not a bad B'day present I got for my son. It's had me playing it continuously for the past several days, getting in the way of Codename:STEAM and Steamworld Heist. I may have been inspirited...

I have a question. Does it have multiple save files or only one like Pokemon? I was thinking of getting it this month and I'd rather not buy two copies of it
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

I'm kind of wondering if I should get a screen protector for my lower 3DS screen before I play this. Most of the 3DS games I've played up to this point haven't been touch intensive other than Pokemon Amie in the Gen 6 games (which is optional). I'm normally pretty gentle with my touch screens, but it looks like battles in Yo-Kai Watch can get pretty frantic later on in the game.
Currently playing: Ys X: Nordics (Switch), SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch)
@Trinexx: A screen protector might be a good idea. I've noticed circular marks on my bottom screen thanks to the moves that require spinning the orb. Liberation Maiden probably had a hand in that as well.

Any update on this how are people finding it? Was thinking about getting it tomorrow as a pick up and play and I understand YW2 is coming in september.
After playing the demo , I think it will be worth playing for the 3D presentation which is very well done in my opinion. Game seems fresh to me, maybe because I have not been involved with the Pokemon franchise . Considering a buy on this one .
Next week, the anime is going to air in my country(Italy).I hope it becomes popular and make people buy the games(but it won't happen, the Sonic Boom tv show is popular but the only Sonic game most italians play is Sonic Dash on their phones).
Not much longer until these come out. I preordered both versions and will give one to my eldest son and the other version is for me. This and DQ7 are the games I'm getting this month. Can't wait to play them both

Are Fathom Events really widespread? How do they work? (Yes, I've never heard of them before. )
It'll be a little while before I pick up one of the two versions (I'm leaning towards Fleshy Souls based on what Yo-Kai are on the box art alone. XD). I still haven't played the first game, and my backlog is also playing a part in delaying me from getting this.

@Tyranexx Fathom Events are normally a one day thing, usually a list of candidate theaters are listed and you can guarantee that one theater in your state will be participating. I'm new to the concept as well, so that all I know.
Fandango should have an open list for the movie if you search it on their site.
