Topic: YouTube App is Here! Is it Awful or Okay?

This app is just a piece of junk. Yesterday, within an hour of the app releasing, I was able to watch videos no problemo. Ever since last night, I can't even get passed a video loading screen without the app crashing!

Could this be due to too many users on the app at one time?

Google, Google, Google... I just, I don't even... smh.

It's not that bad. In my opinion. I mean, if anything, there are some technical limits on 3DS and sure, it could be more polished but thee's not too much more they could've done IMO.

EDIT: I could log in easily to my account.

I could log on with my gmail account just fine. The video quality is sub-par, but watchable. My hopes didn't come crashing down because I didn't have high hopes for the quality to begin with. My one big issue with the app, however, is the crashing. No other app or game I've ever had on my 3DS has crashed and forced a restart more than once. This app has crashed 5 times since I started using this yesterday. Even for a free app, this is completely unacceptable.

Still, with my tablet only ever loading the first few seconds of any video I try to watch, this is my best option to watch Youtube. Other than the crashing, I'm satisfied with this app.

Well, I mean I can log into my default account just fine, but I cannot get it to switch to my "Gioku" account... but my default account has nothing, so I find it pointless to use it...

Did you try going onto Youtube to change which account is your default? Make "Gioku" your default.

The quality, clearly as everyone agrees, isn't the best. But, considering I don't have a smartphone (no need for one at 13, anyways ), this meets the standard I was hoping for that was quite simply having better mobile access to Youtube. Biggest issue for me as it stands is that it has crashed four times while fiddling with the app after downloading, although it's not really recurrent as I don't rush the app anymore.
Also completely with @Dash. A vast amount of people were (iirc) asking for Youtube availability on 3DS some time ago, and they got the app going as best as it would be on 3DS. We can all be thankful Nintendo gave it to us, at least~

hint for you all. don't close the 3DS with the youtube app on, it'll bug and fail searching(that and relaod the page you are) at least that's what happened to me, twice.

I cannot switch my "Gioku" account to my "default" account... it counts as a Google+ page under my default account, so I'm basically stuck with my default account (with nothing)... that really irks me...

Um... is there a way to get it to go full screen? I hate how tiny it is... I heard the "HQ" button does it, but so far hitting the "HQ" button has done nothing for me... I think I'm gonna give up trying to get this to work right soon and just stick with my laptop for YouTube.

just hit the HQ button so it gets red, when it loads it should go full screen..... maybe the app has more bugs than it looks...

@GuSilverFlame: Yeah, I hit the HQ button... and it just keeps doing its thing... I'll play the video sometimes several times waiting to see if it'll go fullscreen... and nothing.

^My reaction, one part of me is a little disappointed that the app keeps freezing, and the quality is alright, since I was mostly watching my flipnotes that I posted to my swell account. The other half of me is happy that THERE WILL BE NO MORE SPAM AND POINTLESS FLIPNOTES OF WE WANT YOUTUBE ON FLIPNOTE 3D GALLERY, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't suffered any crashing whatsoever, but I've never used it for an extended amount of time, so that's probably why.

I haven't tried logging into my account, but I never use it anyways, so no issues for me there either.

I personally don't have a problem with the picture quality either. Maybe it's just because I never expected it to look as good as the 360 app in the first place, but I don't feel it's anywhere near unwatchable.

Now excuse me while I go back to enjoying some hilarious TFS Abridged DBZ.

Just watched a whole movie (Powder) on my 3DS. Never crashed once. I was impressed. Wore down my battery good though, heh.

Damn. There's something else wrong if you can't get HQ to work. I would try to delete the app and download it again. If it's still not working in HQ, you might want to take a look at the settings. Possibly how well your 3DS is connected to your router/internet(but not likely if it's working on your PC).

Long periods of time is not the issue. It froze on the first video I ever tried to play, then another time on a different video. I rebooted the app and tried again. It's only crashed on me twice and hasn't done it anymore.
