I hope Pikipek evolutions gain a second typing because im tired of the Normal/Flying basic bird pokemon. I was happy talonflame's line broke that cycle
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA
Normal-type
This is probably the generic Normal-type mammal creature in the vein of Rattata or Bidoof. Look at that grumpy little face. It's big fangs lead me to believe this will be a Pokémon with a focus on Physical Attack.
Pikipek
Normal/Flying-type
This little woodpecker is apparently the Pidgey-like creature of this game. If it doesn't learn Drill Peck at some point during the course of the game I will be seriously dissapointed.
Grubbin
Bug-type
This Pokémon has these huge fangs but also appears to have a stury shield. Does this mean it's both defensively and offensively skilled?
honestly my hype for this game is high (5 months and 4 days). i like how you get Magearna (QR code). I hope they do it that way for some other special Pokemon
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
Normal/Flying-type

Heh, don't be surprised if that's the case. There are many weird oddities in Pokémon movesets.
Growlithe can't learn Growl
Zangoose can't Cut
Gastly can learn the elemental punches
Solrock and Lunatone can't learn Morning Sun and Moonlight respectfully
...And that's just a few of many examples. There are videos that mention such things and I got a laugh out of them.
I was able to catch most of the Pokemon segment, and it didn't disappoint! Pikipek is probably my favorite design that was revealed today. Here's to hoping that it's evolutions are at least as cool!
The Battle Royale mode also looks interesting. Definitely something I'll try out.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
This was about what I expected, a short section of the early game and a few early game Pokemon shown off. I do like some of the streamlining they've done in this game, this is the good kind of streamlining that makes the game less tedious instead of compromising the game's difficulty and integrity. And I was hoping for a gameplay mode like Battle Royale.
@Sleepingmudkip Agreed, and Talonflame plus its evo line were awesome. I bet they will make a cool bird Pokemon from the woodpecker design. Maybe a Steel/Flying type with a drill beak or something like that?
Anyway, awesome to see a few new Pokemon designs. Grubbin while a slightly generic early Bug Pokemon is kinda cute imo. Apparently the website says it enjoys electricity and hangs around power plants, so it will most definitely become Electric type.
It's also nice to see Magearna in-game now. One little touch I noticed and appreciated from the video was that during battles, the circles under the Pokemon are gone. I like that they're gone now, as with the added Trainers showing up in battles it really makes the battles feel more natural.
Edit: The official site also mentions that Yungoos isnt native to Alola and was brought over to deal with the population of "a certain other Pokemon". Does anyone know of mongooses being brought to Hawaii to control another animal's population there?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed/wondered about this. Another electric/bug Pokemon would be welcome.
Part of me wonders if Yungoos is a pre-evolved form of Zangoose; I've always wanted a pre-evolution. If it's the generic starting area Normal type, then probably not.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Trinexx Interesting thought, since maybe its name would be a pun on 'young (mon)goose' but Yungoos looks way too different from Zangoose. Plus I think Game Freak doesn't care about making pre-evos for old Pokemon.

Bug / Electric is a little weird for a beetle though, it'll probably learn Dig as well then.
