Topic: Monster Hunter Generations (Our Toothy Lord and Savior)

Yeah, I hope they keep saving the worldwide releases for the G editions.

Eh...I rather see them release all games...because waiting for 4U was nightmarish.

Japan may eat those yearly releases up, but for me at least, such a release schedule would be a hard sell. 3G/Ultimate worked well because of the several year-long gap between the original, as well as the former being on a different platform. But otherwise, I just can't convince myself to buy 5 if I know a 5G is on the way too. Not to mention the tendency for newly introduced weapons to be terrible in vanilla versions.

Perhaps it could benefit somewhat from the Street Fighter V approach, have a base game that is continually added upon instead of asking users to buy updated games for full price. Maybe even be able to patch things that prove grossly under or overpowered. Just so long as the initial game is sufficiently meaty.

How it usually goes is that we get a game in between the first game and the G version. No idea why they didn't do that this generation, MHGen should've been the second game. That way 4U could have all the features, maps, and monsters Gen had and add G-Rank to them. :c

@Joeynator3000 Those second games were always touted as portable versions of existing console MHs, that's why they all have Portable in their names, in Japan at least. This 4th generation is the first to take root on a handheld, because they always sell better than console versions. And you can't make a Portable version of a game that is already, well, portable.

Generations is not part of that cycle. It is simply an anniversary game celebrating the series that just happens to use the engine of the most recent entry.

For the record, Hyper monsters in this game are the pseudo-equivalent of G-Rank.

I defeated my very first Chameleos. It was interesting, but I guess I was a little underwhelmed and was expecting more. I would have liked it more if it stayed invisible for longer, but there were ways to work out where it is and attack.

I still wished they did something so they could keep both 4U's Chameleos and FU's Chameleos in the same game. Because I like both.
Maybe have the new one be a variant or something.

@Joeynator3000 It's pretty clear Capcom wanted to do away with all of gen 2's arbitrary equipment restrictions, like being forced to use fire to break Blangonga's face, dragon to do the same on Teostra etc.

Not being able to continue fighting Chameleos with anything approaching efficiency if you run out of smoke bombs just isn't gonna fly these days. There's a reason Apex monsters are not well-received.

A better compromise would be to mostly keep the new fighting style, except make it so he doesn't always fully reveal himself after becoming invisible. Think like his sudden tongue strikes in his 4U intro.

Well I never got that far in the game....but yeah only fainted once. Still repelled him, it wasn't that bad.
Anyways they could still rework him in the new games, but yeah I like both versions. Old one because no music until Rage Mode, and I like how it goes back to silence when he calms down. And 4U's I just like how the music gets all muffled or something when the mist comes in. Still hate that they took that out in Gen. >_>

Initially I was a bit worried that 3rd gen was getting a lot of attention compared to others, but this one shows quite a bit from the 1st, including Cephadrome, Gendrome, Basarios, Monoblos and Gravios. Though it was a bit surprising to see Yian-Kut-Ku, Gypceros and Diablos doing backflips.

Edit: Oh, and apparently there's a possibility that a Monster Hunter movie is in the works.

Gotta love those people in the comments saying this makes Capcom as bad as Konami and that they don't give a damn about anything that isn't Monster Hunter.

The first hour better not be about gathering mushrooms.
