@iLikeUrAttitude yes. But when is a console really dead?? It’s when a player doesn’t play the console anymore.

@MarcusIsCool Well a console is dead when production stops and its no longer being supported with software. This happens usually when it stops selling too.
Also when servers for it are being shut down along with other features, like online play and the eshop.

Good... good
Now play Dragon Quest

I’m bringing life back to mine. I feel like I never played the New 3DS XL as much as my previous 3DS XL. I have Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and struggle to really get into it for some reason. I thought about getting MH Rise for Switch, but not sure I should since I never played MH 4 enough.

I just bought a handful of games for it, one of which I just beat in fire emblem awakening. So, ill be buying stuff physically and on the eshop for a good while. I regularly buy vc titles for it.

3DS is dead when nobody cares anymore. There are people that still support the Intellivision, for goodness' sake. 3DS is good for a long, long time.

Hang on to your youthful enthusiasms - you'll be able to use them better when you're older.

@MarcusIsCool Really? Because I said something similar around the middle of last year in this very thread and you said you agree. You also said “But when is a console really dead?? It’s when a player doesn’t play the console anymore.” in this same thread.
I think you might be losing track of what you actually agree with.

@Maximumbeans I’m not trying to start an argument. It’s a forum and ideas are up for debate. It’s nothing personal and you took it personally and I don’t really know why or see it that way.

@MarcusIsCool I haven’t taken anything personally, I’m just pointing out that you’re both agreeing and disagreeing with the same point so I think you’re a bit confused. I’m happy standing by my take either way.

@NintendoByNature I love FE Awakening. Think I like it more than Three Houses in some ways.

I bought loads of 3DS games last year, some on the eShop, some retail, some second-hand. And I’m not quite done yet - tempted to get DQ VII this year. But even when I’m done buying, I’ve got plenty to play. Battery lasts longer than a Switch too!

@Krull for sure. It was such a banger. So many on my wishlist for 3ds still. There's 2 DQ games on the system yes? They're on my radar too.

@NintendoByNature Yes! Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. I own but haven't yet played the former, and the latter is my favorite Dragon Quest so far in all but the story department; V takes the cake for story.

I've only played IV, V, and VIII so far though.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

@Tyranexx nice! I'll be keep a closing eye on them. If I can get a decently priced physical ill go that route.

It's been hard to pickup my 3DS or any older console since buying my Switch. With Ocarina & Majora's Mask now on Switch Online, that's two more games in my 3DS library eliminated (I'll still likely go back to the 3DS versions since I'll probably wait on buying the online for a while and I don't own an N64). My last major 3DS standouts are Kirby Triple Deluxe & Planet Robobot and rumor has it there's gonna be a Kirby 3D collection with those games and Wii's Return to Dreamland in honor of the 30th anniversary. I'd totally love to buy DQ VII & VIII but like all games, I'm hoping for a modern console port and I still have to finish DQ XIS

Fellas,
I've got a 2DS XL. The build quality is not very good. I dropped it once and now it has a crack near the hinge. It still works fine.
My question is, is it worth it to upgrade to a 3DS? I hear that the build quality is a lot nicer.

Also, I don't think the 3DS will ever die. 2 screens. A touch pad. Stereoscopic 3D. It is really hard to duplicate that experience on any other hardware.

@MarcusIsCool Agreed, love you 😘

Maximumbeans

@Mikmoomamimocki Yeah the 2DSXLs cheap build is a big reason I’ve never got one. I personally think the upgrade is worth it for the nicer build quality and the sturdiness. If you see this as a console you’re going to spend a lot of time with and that you’d hate to see damaged in any way, maybe spring for a tougher 3DS.

@Axecon I’d argue that Dragon Quest VII on 3DS is a modern port - it’s the best version of the game. Which is why I intend to get it - even if I don’t knew when I’ll next have 100 hours free to finish it!

As for DQVIII, there are no bad versions. Even on PS2 it still looks good, though the mobile and 3DS versions have added a few quality of life touches, like quick save and instant crafting.
