I purchased it but I didn't have enough space to download it. I have a bigger SD card lying around somewhere.

I bought the game, making it my second Black Box title
Its a real data hog. Taking up 1,429 blocks! This makes it about 179 megabytes. Making it my biggest data hog among all my 3DSware games (Zombie Slayer Diox taking first, however I deleted that)
The gameplay is meh. Its basically 2 things: Walking around the nice looking town of Tokyo, searching for people, and helpful items. You'll be dealing with multiple stories at once, while it is appealing. It could be too much to remember and handle. The other gameplay element is a card game. You'll be looking for these little orbs, in which you have enough, you can get a card. With these card battles, you can beat other people with your cards. But the card battles is more of an interesting take on Rock-Paper-Scizzors.
Overall, I'm enjoying it, and I've been playing it for about 2 hours. However the 3D is lackluster. The best I can compare it to is a slice of life anime.

@slidecage Its not a bad game. A little short, but I really don't know how long its supposed to be to make it worth your 8 Dollars.
In all fairness, its not an RPG in any way.
If anyone has seen a Wes Anderson movie (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom) this game has that similar bright mind, and will be worth it if you like that stuff.

I just finished and I'm... not entirely sure... what I feel about this game.

It's very Japanese, and I love how the characters and plot develops. The game goes to great lengths to make you feel like a kid again, and you do need a bit of suspension of disbelief but it's overwhelmingly charming once you get into the right mindset.

By the way, the soundtrack and backgrounds are both amazing. High quality even for anime standards. The character models could be a little better, but they're not too shabby either.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Beat it and liked it.

When I first saw the game in motion the first thing that game to mind was "Studio Ghibli". The child protagonist, the idyllic Japanese countryside... this has Ghibli written all over it. The backgrounds are beautiful and the characters are not too shabby either, though the animation could've been better.

As far as gameplay goes, it's the usual "go there, talk to that guy, now go there" plus the simple card game. Nothing innovative or even that compelling in the long run, but at least I didn't manage to get bored to it during the short length of the game.

If you don't mind short games and are just looking for something innocent little fun I say get this. It's very charming and kinda takes you back to the days of childhood when many of the adult things didn't yet make much sense.

Game length does not determine quality for me. I've played some solid $8 titles that were only a few hours long. Downloading this one now

I decided I couldn't wait for a review and I bought Attack of the Friday Monsters. It helped that I had 9 euros left in my account after buying something else ages ago.

I'll let you know what I think later....from first impressions it looks high quality and the music & sound is great.

There's 26 episodes...but if the first episode is any indication they are very short. (I feel like the episodes might be more like objectives/quests.....but I can't say for sure)

i will say that i'm not really a fan of the card-game mechanic, having to collect all the card pieces and not knowing whether you have to talk to someone or whether they'll just ask you to battle is pretty tedious IMO. however, i love the overall look of this game, and you guys are right on the money — it's very much like a 'slice of life' anime tale centered on this one child, it's very Japanese-y, and I definitely thought it had a Studio Ghibli sort of feel to it visually as well. i'm very curious to see how this story will wind up.

@Dizzard: some of the other episodes have taken longer than others for me because of all the running around you have to do. also, don't get hung up on completing the episodes in order, because it doesn't happen that way (at least not the way i've been playing, anyway! :3)

I wish the game had a small summary of each episode, I've forgotten what I'm supposed to be doing with half of them. The names don't really help.....

It was nice, I liked it, but it would have been a lot more fun you could have actually fought the monster.

I played through the game, it's short but not as short as I thought it was going to be.

The atmosphere in the game was really amazing. I was a bit confused with the storyline at times it didn't make a whole lot of sense....but I can see something brewing. Without spoiling anything the ending made it seem like there would be a sequel.

It's mostly walking around the town talking to people in order to further the story along but I enjoyed it. (probably because I like story and character interactions) There's a card game too but there isn't that much strategy involved, I felt a lot of the time it was down to luck (or who had the stronger cards) and less about strategy.

If you want a score, I would personally give it an 8/10. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

Well I couldnt stand it and I downloaded Attack of the Friday Monsters Last Night even though I have this massive backlog of games to play. The game simply put is CHARMING as hell. You do play a very young kid (sohta) who interacts with very young kids. But the storyline is pretty complicated and very well written. It reminds me of an old movie I once saw called Stand By Me. The trials of Coming of age with a very good version of Ro-shambo (the Card game thrown in). The graphics are absolutely beautiful hand Drawn Backgrounds which also remind me of a Studio Ghibli film. Although the game looks like it might be for children I wouldn't think any child younger than 12 years old would even be happy about the plot or complications of the storyline. I got in 4 hours of the game last night and could not wait to see what awaited Sohta and his friends. The music in this game is just fantastic and sets the mood for every scene your in. I can't wait to get off work today so I can dive back into Attack of the Friday Monsters. Even though this game is not a point and click it has the feel of those point and click type of RPG's. Being a big fan of the point and click back in the day with such games as Monkey Island, Beyond Shadowgate and Loom This game does it better than the previous by leaps and bounds! My unfinished rating is a big 10 out of 10! It's a free roaming play style with a point and click feel to it. I know this game will end up short but it is definately going to leave me wanting more if it keeps on going the way its going. It kinda just sucks you in. That my friends is a good thing

I hope level 5 is prepared to do a sequel cause I think anyone who plays this will surely want to peek in on the adventures of Sohta and his friends again after it's all over.
