If you've got some leftover credit from a previous Switch eShop transaction and aren't sure how to spend it, the retro-inspired "action/platformer/RPG-lite" Revenge of the Bird King might be worth checking out.
It's developed by M7 Games, published by Limited Run Games, and is currently 98% off its regular price of $4.99 on the North American Switch eShop. It's "practically nothing" at just 9 cents:
Below is a description and some images of the game:
Plant seeds, grow guns, be the bird-man you always wished you could be.
A group of intergalactic super heroes has come to your world, bringing with them a tale of mystery and complete nonsense. Explore, level-up, find secret treasures, and challenge yourself to some good ol' classic jump'n'shoot action in this retro-inspired action/platformer/RPG-lite.
Thanks to RupeeClock for the tip.

Whaaat?!??!! Ill buy ten!!
Lol I had 100 gold points left over and this game cost me nothing with this sale. Dunno if that's sad or great marketing on the dev's part, but wow, it's kinda amazing how low some of these game prices will go on the eshop.
But is it any good?
If you look on the great sales tab, games are like 10 cents all the time. Not anything new
Pretty sure like half of the best sellers are bottom of the barrel games that go on sale for pennies. Is this game good? Not good for it's price, I mean, would you be willing to pay $20+ for it?
@MagnaRoader It turned out awesome for them because we're talking about them at this very moment. Good marketing.
I would had bought it for Switch had I not already got it on PS Vita a few months ago. Anyways the game is okay, just a bit short and a little sweet but offer nothing new.
Sounds like a good way to spend a few gold coins.
Too bad its not in europe
It's still rubbish though
@DenDen It was a couple of months ago.
Maybe it's selling for practically nothing because it's worth practically nothing...
@DenDen you could make an american eshop account and buy some credit online for a little less than it's face value.
@Sidon_ZoraPrince you can actually claim gold points on the American account so you can buy uk games and claim points on American account and for titles like this you don’t need to get American credit at all. I split my points between UK store and US but us get spent quicker
Sorry, I never buy anything above 5 cents.
(JK...)
for a few pennies I would buy it, its pretty sad that a lot of games seem to going down this extreme discount route. Still profit is profit, if they have already broken even on this however low they sell it then its all profit.
I’ve bought a few games at a very discounted rate and still not enjoyed them. Maybe I am a snob but a bad game is just that, no matter what the price is.
If you want an equivalent bargain in the UK, Vektor Wars is 99p and is a pretty good shooter with some nice retro vector graphics mixed with some modern effects.
Bought this at launch hoping for something like Shovel Knight. I was disappointed.
Saw this last night - anybody know why it's not available in EU/UK?
@xanderten50 I were just about to mention that myself.
I got burned by a cheap game once. Even though 9 cents is practically nothing I don't need clutter on my system. No review no purchase and even then I won't buy for a 6 or lower.
I'm trying not to buy so many games even when they are on sale as I have a large backlog. When games are sold cheap I need to make sure they're worth the time it takes to play them. This one looks interesting but am not too bothered.
This game is pretty decent, a bit like an open world mega man or Zelda 2. If you like 8bit platformers id recommend it.
I've never seen prices quite as crazy as this on the Australian store, but I can say from experience that there are some games which suspiciously spend half their time at like 90% off and are actually excellent.
The Way Remastered
Membrane
This game isn't even out in Europe.
Use a few coins and it's free. I'll take it.
@Stocksy my gold points are seperate for each. As they're different accounts. I didn't know there was a way to have them combined.
I'm not forsure @xanderten50 why it's only in the U.S. But it could be because Limited Run Games is an American company.
@CurryPowderKeg79 for sure, I get that for physical releases - but for digital it makes no sense, in fact I'm pretty sure every other limited run game has come across as a digital release... which makes this one quite strange. Unless there are some eShop issues like Polygod or Inferno 2 but that's all I can think of?
Its actually pretty good! Picked it up earlier today. Kinda like a Zelda 2 mixed with Mega Man and its own twist. Hard to want to stop playing.
@oats-81
And a pretty well done marketing stunt!
But we need folders...
Really cheap, I might consider getting it in the Mexican eShop.
But the strategy is clear here: if they become best-sellers, once the sale ends they're well positioned in the eShop and the price is normal then. That's the plan, I guess.
@Filth_Element @wazlon what I hope for at the very least whenever I take a chance on one of these super-cheap Indies, is that they have heart. Even if the game seems undercooked, unpolished or too short, I see it as supporting an indie dev. So much work goes into these games, and no one should complain about paying $5 (or less) for a functional & not-so-bad game.
that price tells me it has a lack of quality, and wasn't worth buying at the higher asking price
@NImH I get what your saying but so many of these cheap titles have very little to offer at all. I don’t want to end up paying money for something that’s just not worth my time.
@Filth_Element no doubt, some games are straight trash. But reviews grant us a warning nowadays.
