Promotional material continues to fly in for the new Nintendo Switch Lite, all in a bid to tempt fans into a cheeky purchase, and this latest trailer is a particularly flashy affair.
The console appears to have had a slightly mixed start; we don't have enough data to truly assess its early performance, and the coming months are arguably more important for the system anyway, but early signs suggest that it's relatively popular in Japan and not quite so popular in the UK.
Despite only being on the market for a matter of days, some users have been reporting cases of stick drift, as seen in the original model's Joy-Con. At present, it's hard to know whether or not the new console really does suffer from the same problems which plagued the original system, but fans are clearly concerned regardless - user comments replying to any of Nintendo's social media posts about the Switch Lite are always full of questions about the potential issue.
Nintendo rarely provides comment on such things so we're not expecting an official response, but our time with the Switch Lite has been mostly positive up until this point. It's a charming little machine that really is a great way to enjoy your games on the go; if trailers like the one above have you sold, we wouldn't let these few early reports put you off too much.
Have you picked up a Switch Lite? Do you intend to do so? We're always listening in the comments below.

I'm in Australia, and the switch lite has barely been advertised at all.
I simply don't need it, why would I? I'm perfectly fine with the OG model, no issues at all (well, besides the red/blue joycon with that infamous drifting, of course). In fact, I'm more interested in the first Switch revision with that sweet extended battery life.
This is about me, though. Regarding my 4 children, mhhhhhh. Oh Nintendo, you sure want my money badly, don't you?
You cannot have two consoles with your games at the same time without being always online because Nintendo, which renders this console absolutely unusable for those who doesn't want to stop using the old one at home. And do not forget their cloud save nonsense.
Once they fix their absurd policies, I'll be definitely getting one (or two). But don't hold your breath.
I don’t need it but I’m starting to want one
The marketing for the switch has been great since the original info dump happened at the back end of 2016 - convinced me to buy my first launch day console ever.
Switch lite continues this trend being aimed at a different consumer base to drive a broader sales number.
I will be getting one too for bike packing as grams make all the difference but not till after Xmas as have other priorities atm.
I still just don't see the point of it. It's not a Switch, doesn't have dual screens or 3D anymore. It's an HD Gameboy Advance. It's just a massive step backwards in terms of an interesting console for me.
Where I live, NYC,, there are three or four spots to buy a Switch: two Targets, best buy and GameStop.
The latter has a poster up. All of them have all three colors.
I think they’ve missed a trick in marketing. Handheld gaming is primarily about the feel of the device (in addition to the software of course). Can you find a display unit in any of these places? Nope.
So you’re expected to buy it sight unseen. I bought the aqua one for a gift so I got a chance to Unbox and check it out. It dies indeed feel lovely in the hand and the blue is way more green in “the flesh.”
A flashy video does a pun ok job of set out the features but you need to hold the thing to really “get it”.
I definitely want one but can’t justify it just yet
I’m getting a grey Lite come payday. I play 100% in handheld mode, so this is perfect for me. Plus a real d-pad sweetens the deal massively.
@KIRO I was thinking the other day this needs to be held to be tempting, as it just looks like a Switch in different colors w/o removable Joycon. Or as @RainbowGazelle perfectly named it, HD Gameboy Advance. I always wanted it to be called SwitchBoy, either of which are a better name than Switch Lite.
Watching this vid all I can think is they should get Apple Aracade on it - for the same price as a monthly subscription to MKT - and let Apple cross-market it. If Apple were ever going to put out an iPod Touch w/ physical controls and call it iGame this is the ad they would have used. It's all about the pretty colors, not much else.
I would be almost interested as a secondary device if Nintendo had made it easier to play your digital games across devices and move cloud saves over easily but as it is... nope.
why is their no red one?
@BarefootBowser I get it. But for me I don't see the point. It's so boring compared to previous consoles.
Have a grey one, absolutely love it. Its so light and fits my hands perfectly. My original Switch will be staying docked from now on.
If they make a Pro Switch, an actual upgrade, I will consider it.
@BarefootBowser
It's not a switch. It doesn't switch.
If all games had cloud save back up and could be moved across devices easy I'd be getting one. As it is, with a number of games I play or am planning to get not supporting cloud saves at all like Splatoon 2, Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing, then it's not really worth me bothering
i see the switch lite as a secondary device, for people who already have the OG, but who need a second switch for whatever reason,
whether it is their children or their wife, nephews and so on, for on the go play in airports. for a primary gaming device, the original makes more sense valuewise.
i dont think the switch lite is bad, i have a vita and its great for handheld play, the Lite should be even better. but the OG Switch is my only current gen console ( i still have my wii), and i dont regret buying it instead of the lite, i get to play big screen or small screen at will.
@BarefootBowser Well, and I do base this from what I have read on other sites so apologies if incorrect, but I believe that to use your digital library across more than one Switch, you have to make a Switch your primary console. If you want to play a digital game on a non primary console you need to be connected to the internet to authenticate and then use. Then, at the same time, I believe you have manually transfer saves from the cloud and down to your device. So from my perspective, as someone that would like a Switch lite for travel and a Switch for home gaming (which I also do a lot of), it doesn't seem smooth.
@BarefootBowser Yeah it is not the end of the world but I would say my Switch use is 50/50 between portable and I'd be interested in the portable to be able to pick up when I need a portable for a day or 2. I travel a lot and at short notice so having to think ahead which games have the most up to date etc. isn't always ideal.
I completely agree, it isn't a blocker but it isn't smooth and if Nintendo are trying to market this as an additional advice for portability then it is not quite there for me. First world problem though
