The Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle was a relatively unexpected announcement in September. The game was then launched a week later, offering players the chance to enjoy a compilation of retro side-scrolling fighting games ranging from Final Fight to Armoured Warriors.
If you did download the title to your Switch on release, you might have noticed a few options were missing. Over on the Capcom-Unity blog, it's been clarified the company has "heard the community's feedback" and will be updating the game next month. Below is what's being added:
New Screen Filters – Transport yourself back to the arcades with new scanline/arcade filter options.
New Screen Size – In addition to the full screen size, there is now the option to display the screen in its original size to fit more types of screens.
ON/OFF Toggle for Mid-session Joining – When creating a lobby, there is now an option to turn off the ability for other players to join your in-game session.
Capcom also recently released an update for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, improving and fixing certain problems. Did you pick up the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle when it first arrived? Are you glad the company is listening to fans? Tell us below.

The price tag is holding me down
Nice little update there. I wanted full screen so I’m glad that’s coming. Never had a problem with random people jumping in the middle of a game, if that was the case I just play offline. Now, I still wish there was a sound/music mode added to the gallery.
Sneak in a little 19XX or Counter Attack too Capcom, why not?
Waiting for physical Japanese release in December.
Got excited for a second. They haven’t heard all the feedback about the online lag then?
This is great news. Ridiculous that the filters were not present to begin with but great that they listened.
Really happy to see a great collection get even better. I am surprised how much I enjoyed playing through these and could see me revisiting them quite often. I would love to see more of these types of arcade hidden gem collections moving forward
I wouldn't trust Capcom at all with them updating the Switch version. Like, the Switch version of the SF 30th Anniversary Collection still doesn't have the search filter the other versions have, despite having been updated 3 times.
@DenDen It costs next to nothing. Don't be so cheap.
The lack of scanlines was a real issue on this one for sure. I know some people love giant razor sharp pixels, but that's not how these games were meant to be seen.
I was also a bit miffed at the omissions here. The lack of Final Fight 2 and 3 was really odd, and it's too bad they couldn't get the necessary license for The Punisher and Alien vs Predator. Those are two of the best Capcom belt fighters.
Im going to buy the jp physical release
I've got the physical edition pre-ordered from Amazon Japan and I'm hoping all of these updates will be finalized by then.
On a different note, who is this Capcom company? They are listening to fans? Giving them new games and old games? Releasing quality products? I .....I don't know what to say .....but I like it!
@ramu-chan no FF 2 and 3 makes sense because they weren't arcade games.
@ramu-chan Buy it for him, don't be so cheap hahah
Good stuff but I wish Capcom heard the fan feedback about the terrible audio on SF30th. How this issue never got fixed before it released, let alone after 3 updates I'll never know.
@DenDen Are you accidentally looking at the price of something expensive?
@ramu-chan The lack of scanlines option in this weirdly led to me changing tack and going for no filter on all my Neogeo Switch games and all my other emulation as well......quite enjoying the vibrancy of it all now.
Why you ignore Magic Sword Capcom? That game should had also been a part of this collection, it was one of five (the other four were Final Fight, Captain Commando, The King of Dragons, and Knights of the Round) awesome arcade beat em up that got Super NES port and didn't make it to this collection.
@jobvd There were bootleg JAMMA boards of FF2 & 3 so it kinda got an arcade release.
If they make online play possible I'll be happy. Currently unplayable due to lag. Sometimes ok with 2 players but if a third player joins it's game over.
@DenDen what did you want it for free or something? It's amongst the cheapest games available.
This is a good game, i managed to get top score on Knights of the round with someone online. The biggest problem is the huge lag you get the moment someone with shoddy internet comes on... Also you seem to have an endless number of continues, which is great but makes it easy to complete.
Who is it picking scanlines playing these games? Scanlines were never the preferred visual and even in those cases artificial scanlines never look quite right. Razor sharp pixels are maybe not what many of us got using consumer CRT's but they're best.
@OldMcGroin agreed. A shame it's a hit ore miss thing. Seem to work fine with players from the same region. However, it would be nice to be able to game with some of my AUS buddies without much online play issues.
@DenDen you worried about how cheap it is? That's the only way your comment could have any semblance of logic
Not buying unless it gets a physical release. Same reason I didn't pick up either of the Megaman Legacies no full retail release.
It's an amazing collection of games (and cheap working out at £2-£3 per game), but while it's great they've "heard feedback" sadly they clearly haven't as the main feedback is that Online is broken.
Weirdly it seems to be that 3 player games work perfectly with one other online player (rock solid), but the second a third connects it lags so badly (even for the host) that you can't do anything. Even the music (which you'd assume would all be local and not synced to the gameplay speed) lags. But on 2 player games if another player connects it lags immediately.
Such as shame as 3 player online Captain Commando would be great.
How about throwing in Saturday Night Slam Masters. But yeah, if only they fixed the online.
@Pazuzu666 me for one. If companies like capcom can't offer an experience at least equal to Retroarch, I will save my money.
@BensonUii
Not import though. Import taxes and shipping will eat you alive.
@DenDen $20 for 7 arcade games? Bought seperately at Arcade Archives prices would be $8 each or $56 altogether.
Also, downgraded home ports of these would've been $60 each on the SNES.
Just because something is old or because you could download MAME on a computer and steal these for nothing doesn't mean they shouldn't have any value.
Capcom is practically giving these away for the price of an hour worth of quarters at an arcade and I guarantee I spent more than $20 in quarters in freeplay continues to make it through every game.
@BensonUii
USA. My state also applies sales tax to online purchases (9.75%!) don't forget shipping and import taxes and you are well over $100! A domestic copy would be so much cheaper.
@GameOtaku I'm in the US too. Over $100? Not sure where you looked but with shipping your're only looking at about $40 bucks or so for a physical copy from Play Asia. Not sure what state you are in but even if they tax an online purchase I don't see why there would be an import fee. I've never had one.
@SDF_Macross77
Oh it's only $40 shipping! That only makes the price go up to $70 for a $30 game! I could just take a short 15 minute drive to town and back and pick it up for less.
@GameOtaku $40 for the game including shipping. Total. Shipping itself is about 6 bucks. Importing is not expensive like it used to be.
I play something from this collection every time I fire up my Switch now. It’s the game I play while deciding what game I want to play. Probably my favorite Switch purchase. I’ve pumped way more in quarters into just Final Fight cabs than the sum of this game. Shame to hear online is laggy, I’ve never given it a try.
@SDF_Macross77
2 things
1. You should have been more specific. Sounded like the shipping was $40.
2. The price is still higher imported than what you could pay for a domestic release.
Am I asking too much if I want to play with my non-EU friends without lag getting in the way and ruining everything?
C'mon Capcom. C'mon.
@DenDen Same here, waiting for a Black Friday or holiday sale hoping to see this at around ten bucks.
@GameOtaku The way I wrote the total was specific because I referenced your inaccurate total of $100 but I suppose that's subjective. Its not important. My point was just to be helpful and clarify the costs to you incase you were interested in importing, which you apparently aren't because you keep saying it's too expensive even when its less than half what you thought it would be. To each their own.
@insertcoin2play Gotta keep some games for the next collection...
I'd like see a comic book or licensed games versions (like they did with the Disney NES platformer pack) would be great to have Alien Vs Predator, The Punisher and Cadilacs and Dinosaurs on my Switch.
@Nintendofan83 Which version did you pre-order? I simply want a physical release and have no interest in collector's edition however I see that there's 4 versions at Amazon japan: 2 collector's box, a normal version and a limited edition with Amazon Edition :/
@Pazuzu666 Talk about yourself. Scanlines are life. Hail scanlines!
@tangram I went with the standard edition that was like 3,000 Yen or something like that. I don't really want the collector's edition because I wouldn't be able to read most of it. I also picked up Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 because I wanted a physical for that.
@BulkSlash yeah capcom didn't make those;)
I know you have to drive engagement and finish articles off by asking a question or two but “Are you glad the company is listening to fans?” is dialling it in just a little, no? Surely the only people answering ‘No’ are the poor sods who have to make the changes? Nit-picky? Sure. Just made me chuckle when I read it though is all
@BensonUii
Or they could have an English version physical for $30 compared to paying $20 more to import from an online store which I myself don't find all that convenient. If you can buy something in a store locally and support the local economy compared to giving the big corporations more money and not open up your accounts to hackers by shopping online.
Those are the things the community was complaining about? The community sounds like a bit of a whiny loser, frankly.
@BensonUii I didn't check Amazon Japan yet but I will today and let you know. I'm curious.
Now if they would listen to the fans about a certain Megaman Legends game...
This collection is awesome. I hope the lag is getting fixed at some point.
I’m hoping that being the beat em up bundle is doing well that Capcom will follow up with another package like say a shoot em up bundle??
1942,1943, Eco Fighters, side arms, section Z, UN Squadron etc etc!! That would be a day 1 for me as well!!
Glad Capcom is listenting to fans
Nice, totally picking this up as soon as it's on sale, esp if it can properly display the games in original ratios
@retro_player_22 I love that game too [Magic Sword], but it's not a beat-em-up. Check out Black Tiger though - it's a like a proto-Magic Sword but I think it's better.
@Beatley82 looks at price tag of vacuum
"This video game is too expensive for my taste."
Still no voice app compatibility eh? I guess Nintendo still hasn’t added them to the 3rd party dev kits yet.
Loved this bundle...capcom can you include the aliens game???
So glad Capcom listened. Not including the screen filters was a real disappointment but I'm so buying this now. Some of my best gaming memories are playing Final Fight on a big CRT.
@ramu-chan FF 2 and 3 are not arcade games. AVP cannot get licensed again.
@kurtasbestos Dont be ahgdddvnj. These games have been stretched incorrectly and look terrible. Playing it on a big modern tv literally makes the sprites look broken. If you are o.k with settling for an inferior product then good for you. Clearly a lot of people are not and Capcom knows they made a huge lazy mistake.
@meltendo No. It cannot be re-licensed.
@retro_player_22 Magic Sword isn't a beatem up. It's a side scrolling action game like Rastan.
improve the online when i tried the trail of switch online service this game was terrible online. Only final fight was playable all the other games that have 3 players where not, if online is improved i might sub instead of waiting for smash to sub lol.
Love it when publishers listen! The lack of filters is why I didn't buy. I'll be purchasing this now!
This bundle is great, i hope they'll also release a shmup bundle.
@YANDMAN Okay, maybe "New Screen Size" is a valid thing that needed fixing, but "New Screen Filters" and "ON/OFF Toggle for Mid-session Joining" sound like complaining for the sake of complaining.
@kurtasbestos The toggle thing is couldn't care elss about. The screen filters is very much a necessity. If you don't understand graphical display that's one thing but dont make out that those that do are moaning. That is silly.
