GameChops has released the full soundtrack for the fan-made sequel to Mother 3, despite the fact that the game itself still isn't out yet.
Created by a dedicated team of fans, Mother 4 certainly looks the part - but it is of course totally unofficial and earlier this year it was confirmed that the title would be changing to avoid legal issues.
The soundtrack - composed by Shane Mesa - still carries the Mother 4 name, and includes 8 officially licensed covers of Mother and Earthbound music as well as 56 original soundtrack songs.

Wonder if nintendo will ever release an official Mother/Earthbound game in the future. I've only played Earthbound on the wiiu, loved it! Love to play mother 3 on the switch, if it actually happens next year.
The title change is good news. Maybe this means we'll get to play it on the Switch at some point!

Listened to a bit and it's not for me. I have barely played Earthbound so maybe that's why.
They‘re still making that? Man, feels like almost a decade since I last heard of them. Now, I wonder, though. Which will release first, or even at all? Mother 3 in the west or Mother 4?

Apparently the dude that did most of the tunes has decided not to let them use them anymore. Having to do the whole soundtrack again is a major bummer and is going to delay this game even further.
@TheLZdragon hi, i worked on this album! all the Earthbound songs are licensed covers, so nintendo/the composers get a royalty for this soundtrack. just wanted to clarify!
I'm glad the game is still going to come out and the fact that they are changing the title to avoid conflict with Nintendo's trademark is a good thing. This is something I wish AMR2 and Pokemon Uranium would had done too since those fan made games themselves were also great.

Winter 2014, there's speculation it's in development hell. I read the reason the soundtrack has been released is because the sound guy wasn't happy with how it was going.

I remember YouTube channels around that time saying it was "out now, by the time this video is uploaded." I could've sworn I saw a download link somewhere too.
I remember this starting as some random Starmen.net forum post in response to Itoi saying he probably wasn't going to make another. It's a wonder it even got this far.
@readyletsgo Itoi, the creator of the series, said that the series is complete and he has no plans to continue it in the future. It's just the trilogy and anything the fans make.

I bought this soundtrack as soon as I found out it was released and have been listening nonstop since! I highly recommend it to fans of game soundtracks in general. For me, having been following the project for seven years or so now... it means a whole lot more! It's so rad
