Chasing Aurora developer Broken Rules has revealed on Twitter that is it porting Michael Todd's Electronic Super Joy to the Wii U eShop.
A music-filled platformer with a strong sense of humour, Electronic Super Joy is currently available for Windows, Mac and Linux, and was awarded a solid 9/10 by Destructoid. Ironically, its sequel - Electronic Super Joy: Groove City - is already available on the Wii U eShop.
Sadly, Broken Rules doesn't think that Chasing Aurora sequel Secrets of Raetikon will make the leap to Nintendo's console. In the past it has been mentioned that the Aurora wasn't the commercial success the studio had hoped for, and this seems to have impacted its view of the Wii U:
As for Electronic Super Joy, you can check out the trailer below.

That's a shame about the sequel to Chasing Aurora... I definitely would've gotten it. I will probably get Electronic Super Joy some time when it's on sale, but I'd have been more interested in Secrets of Raetikon.
It's hard to get excited about another indie platformer. I just don't have the energy anymore. I have to save it all up for Runbow.
I'm a bit tired of those monochromatic platformers. One of the great things about stuff like Shovel Knight, Guacamelee, Elliot Quest or Teslagrad is the worldbuilding - those are well-constructed settings, with characteristic landscapes and different regions to explore. These backgrounds, however, just feel drab and uninteresting, making it a tough sell to get me interested in yet another sidescroller (as much as I love the genre).
On miiverse, one of the verified users for the sequel mentioned that the first game might be censored when it arrives on Wii U, due to feeling that the low sales of the sequel are due to the lower ages of the consumer-base.

Proof.
Nice. I saw this before at an indie con and was kind of bummed it wasn't available on consoles. Picked up both soundtrack CDs though to listen to in the car. =)
I enjoyed Groove City. Sorry to see I'll never get to play SoR. Maybe I'll fix up my PC soon.
@argh4430 Censored!? ARGH!
If they do censor anything in Electronic Super Joy, I'm definitely not interested in getting it - regardless of the price. That stuff is what made Groove City so uniquely charming...
It's a shame as Secrets of Raetikon looked like what I was expecting from Chasing Aurora. I'd certainly have jumped in on that.
Not so sold on ESJ. But best of luck to them, always good to see more on the eShop even if it's not my personal taste
i just hope ESJ has proper controller support, cuz being only able to play GC with the gamepad was a real let down for me...
Hope it's not censored as this game managed to be an indie platformer and actually fun, which is a real achievement.
@huxxny pro controller was patched in groove city in a while ago

I know you probably beat groove city a while ago I'm just leaving proof of the patch being out here and besides if you guys don't want ESJ censored (and you aren't banned on miiverse like me) just tell him you don't want it censored. Just giving my 2 cents on the thought.
@gamemasterb hey thanks a whole lot, it didn't worked for me the 1st time i tried the game, but i'm really glad to hear that!! also there's no reason to censor the game, GC wasn't censor, so i don't see why they'll do it, since it will probably hurt the sales anyway, at least, i'm not buying it if they do!!
@huxxny I agree what you said about the censoring. Though for what it's worth while groove city wasn't censored I heard it had a "pg" mode you can turn on and off. I don't have it but I plan on getting groove city I'm just not near my wii u now.
Chasing auroras was good but lacking in content plus it should of had online play! Or at least leaderboards!
@gamemasterb Yeah, I agree. Everyone who thinks it shouldn't be censored should go to this link - the original post that came before the link above, so you can post that you wouldn't be interested in a censored version...

If you read his post about censoring it, he's saying that he thought the sales of Groove City were hurt by the M rating on the Wii U, but there's absolutely no reason to think that was the cause. Huxxny already posted and made a good point on there, that the lower sales could've been caused by the higher price on the Wii U version.
Anyway, the Twitter thing that was quoted in this article is misleading if they are going to release the original censored on Wii U. It said:
A press quote of the game we're currently porting to Wii U. "Visually stunning, hilarious, and brutally challenging.", 9/10, Destructoid.
...but if it's censored, the 9/10 rating may not apply to this version, and there's a very good chance that "hilarious" would not apply, either. Much of what I found amusing in Groove City would have been missing if it had been censored.
Looks like a "laser-nipple" rip-off. You know, that game with the robot.
