Excellent! I've been a squeaky wheel on this for some time. Have let the game rest while we've been waiting. Despite its less than tight controls, muttering frame rate, and level pacing issues, this is a great time waster and challenge.

Regarding Wave 2: on November 8th I preordered Luigi, Zelda, Diddy Kong, and Captain Falcon, but online and in town. Every pre-order is marked as canceled or delayed till January 15th. I found Zelda on the shelf at another store in town.

@SKTTR I understand where you're coming from. My experience with Nintendo is that it takes them YEARS to drop the price on their big games, so I usually just buy them at launch. I'll splurge from time to time, like with Bayonetta 2, but just expect to budget for first party Nintendo games.

@Goob I did not notice any tearing. Frame rate is a fairly smooth 30 with minimal dips, but nothing to be upset about. Much better than ACIV. Shadows are not the nasty hashmarks in Splinter Cell and ACIV, but are a very smooth gradient, which is very welcome. Texture filtering is sort of crappy, but I can live with it. Over all, I am impressed with the performance! It looks like the delay was worth it.

This looks like a beating. I would have played very similar to whoever was in this video. The frustration with getting that red ring at the beginning, getting damaged at the boss for dumb reasons... and I just can't stand how target locking enemies destroys momentum. I will give this a rental, but I doubt my opinion will change.

This was my first game backed on Kickstarter. After all the promising releases this year, I decided against this in the future unless the project is low on funding. With Shantae, Ghost Song, Mighty No. 9, and more, I'm glad the outlet is there. I'll just be one of those who buys through eShoo/Steam.

@JoostinOnline I have no problem with people pointing out flaws. That's give and take, conversation, discourse. What I call "being defensive" is people not even giving these ideas a chance. A quick look through the above 200+ posts will show a completely dismissive attitude by most. Is the Salon article flawed? Of course, what isn't (yes, that includes Zelda).

In your previous post, you say "More than anything, it's people's obsession with searching for stereotypes that make them continue to exist." I disagree. I say that it's a lack of understanding diverse viewpoints that continues stereotypes. Angry, dismissive attitudes towards opinions other than our own prolong this lack of understanding and strengthen stereotypes.

Ignorance may be bliss, but it is certainly not healing or helpful. Education is the answer.

I expect this post to be dismissed at least as much as those I've made above. As I've said before, NintendoLife is not a healthy environment for this type of discussion. Take what I say with a grain of salt, but at least try to understand where I am coming from. Thank you for this exchange. You are welcomed to have the last word; I am finished with this comment thread.

@Neram Honestly, I think it's important to be aware of unintentional offenses. Can you live your life in fear that you will offend someone? No. Should you do your best to help rather than hurt? Of course.

If you'd like to look up the error of a privileged mindset, I'd encourage you to do so. As I've said previously, NintendoLife is clearly not the forum to discuss social theory.

@Klimbatize Obviously it didn't make you hate people. But it does reinforce harmful conceptions, no matter how subtly. GTA is an obvious offender, but Zelda? It's important to look at these sort of things to see how far harmful attitudes permeate our society, even our childhood. You don't have to stop playing OoT; the author is simply asking us to be aware.

@eaglebob345 It looks like you missed the part where the author called the game an amazing work of art. Did you even read the linked article?

You are privileged when you don't have to worry about being judged on the basis of your culture or physical characteristics. In our society, not everyone is able to live such a life.

Obviously, NintendoLife is not the place to discuss sociology. That being said, these examinations can have value if you take five seconds to think them through. No need to get so polemical over this.

@Neram It's not that "normal people" don't think like that, but privileged people. These kind of evaluations are GOOD if they open your eyes to the overwhelming preference in Western culture for "people like us."

Honestly, I do not understand why almost everyone on this comments section seems so defensive. This stuff is real. It's not that people are looking to find sexism, racism, etc. It's already there. If you can't see it, than the one revealing it is helping you.

Does it suck that Zelda is loaded with these harmful classifications? Yes. Have things improved since the 1940s? Yes.

Sure, there are worse games, but it's important to have a critical eye on the things we enjoy the most. The author's last paragraph says exactly this:

"On this 15th anniversary of the game’s release, I encourage readers to dust off their Nintendo 64 and return to Hyrule. Hike up Death Mountain. Swim in Lake Hylia. Explore the Lost Woods. “Ocarina” is a fantastic piece of art we can enjoy while being aware that, like so much other art, it has a lot of problems."

Don't take it so personally. Everyone has blind spots. Yes, Zelda is awesome; also, it has problems.

I love Chasing Aurora. It has excellent multiplayer. Have played it with just my wife and I, our kids, and our friends. And Yet IT Moves is also excellent. I'm disappointed I'll have to buy SoR on Steam, but it will be a day one purchase.

@rjejr Tap the Miiverse icon on the bottom of the game selection screen. It looks like three green people. You can also get there by clocking home and selecting the same icon.

To get there from Wara Wara plaza, click on a person and then "View Post in Miiverse," or something like that.

@ThomasBW84 It really is surprising because showing the sizzle real makes so much sense, but at the same time I don't have any expectation of advertising from NA based on past experience. I stay very informed of Wii U news, but my Wii U owning friends know hardly anything about new titles, let alone those yet to come. I'm hoping that will change, but I'm not holding my breath.

@WinterWarm That's fair. It wasn't my view either until a couple years ago. I took a break from consoles for a couple years only to be drawn back in by Skyward Sword, Rock Band and BitTrip. Runner. My tastes have since changed. I would love to see something for everyone on Wii U, and that's why I find crowd funded indies so exciting. With Unity on Wii U, anyone with enough determination, hard work, and support can try their hand at bringing new ideas and innovation to the gaming community. Steam already has this sort of infrastructure, but Wii U is so much more convenient than constantly setting up wired USB and/or Bluetooth controllers to my PC.

@WinterWarm these games are crowd funded because that's the route some indies are taking with Wii U. Why does that have you pissed? Cloudberry Kingdom is an amazing game, and I absolutely cannot wait for Shovel Knight (both kickstarted). @3DSAllDay, not every game needs a kickstarter. LOL!The way I see it, it only means for more games. And super awesome indie games at that.

Sir420 commented on Gaijin Games: Runner 2 Fix is On The Way:

@Blizzaga: this issue is also dealt with in the update:

"
•At the start of the game, when it asks you if you want to log in, we've added some feedback so it doesn't look like the game is hanging.
•The leaderboards will only save your highest score, as expected, instead of your most recent score, which it does now.
•If you lose your internet connection during play, we've allowed you to reconnect by going to the leaderboards menu.
•We've fixed false score reporting for in-game Rewards.
•We've fixed an issue with the level start mini-leaderboard telling you you're offline when you're actually online. It will populate this list with global scores if you don't have any friends who have played the game yet.
•We've fixed an issue in the settings menu that resets your settings every time you enter the menu.

And last, but not least, we've tried to fix the issue that locks up the Wii U system upon powering down or quitting out of the game via the HOME Menu.
