The MCM Comic Con - the UK's biggest popular culture event - has just finished its tenure at Birmingham's NEC, and we were lucky enough to attend. Packed with memorabilia, merchandise, cosplayers and even some famous faces from the world of film and TV, the event was well attended and a lot of fun - even more so thanks to the fact that Nintendo UK was there in force, rocking its own stand, retail store and gaming competitions over the two days.
On Saturday there was Super Smash Bros. Invitational Tournament which saw 32 players compete on the Wii U version of the fighting title. On the Sunday there were more Smash bouts, as well as a special event to see which attendee had the most potent amiibo character. Throughout both days Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate experts were on hand to supply tips and tricks for Capcom's 3DS smash-hit, and the StreetPass area was busy with Nintendo fans looking to collect puzzle pieces and drive up their StreetPass hit total.
The Official Nintendo UK Store was also present, selling hardware, software and associated merchandise. Nintendo's stand was pretty large when compared to others at the show, and the company scored quite a coup by attending - despite the large volume of gamers that walked through the doors of the NEC, Nintendo was only one of the three major players to have a presence.

captain falcon needs tighter pants to hide his triforce
I didn't realize the con was that big and I didn't know there was so much Nintendo stuff. Think I gotta do a little trip to England for this next year. ^^
@Monsti they do a few events across England during the year. If your interested enough to book a holiday around it, there's enough choice in dates and venues. Just make sure you have deep pockets with plenty of cash to spend though, you'll want to take a more than a few things home with you.
I just wish that the ExCel center in London didn't change their health and safety policies, the used have wrestling their too, which gave a break from walking around the stalls all day.
Woah...Captain Falcon has really let himself go.
I worked there for the weekend. Didn't get to see as much as I'd liked, but some of the cosplay there was pretty cool.
Hmm... the video was sorta not that interesting to me, but the soundtrack: Ah, Shovel Knight, instant classic.
Guy in the captain falcon suit needs to rethink a few things in his life... no one wants to see that.
@paleboyjack There's a Facebook group currently: https://www.facebook.com/retroactiveuk
Ah, you caught me 1:12-1:17 as Briefers Rock
Was a great day. Thanks! ^_^
So now we know why there hasn't been an F-Zero game for a while, Captain Falcon just isn't up for it anymore.
