New reports suggest that Level-5's 3DS title Youkai Watch has shipped one million units in Japan.
The game launched in July last year, but it wasn't until the transmission of the related anime TV show in January that sales began to spike; in February, Level-5 confirmed that it had delivered 500,000 units to retailers. Since then, shipments have doubled — an impressive achievement for a game which was launched almost a year ago.
This increased momentum should bode well for Youkai Watch 2, which is coming to Japan in July.
Although the series is exclusive to Japan at the moment, Level-5 has already trademarked the name in North America and has previously asked if western players would be interested in getting their hands on it:
Between the game and the anime, Yo-kai Watch is a success in Japan! Would you like to see Yo-kai Watch in the US/EU? http://t.co/sFgMsAMLXf— LEVEL5_IA (@LEVEL5_IA) February 18, 2014
Bumper sales will only increase the chance of a western release, but are you looking forward to playing this? Let us know with a comment.
