European 3DS VC Gets Game Gear Next Month, Too

Posted by James Newton

Double trouble

Just like Japan, Europe's 3DS Virtual Console will get Game Gear games in the middle of March.

Satoru Iwata made the announcement today at Nintendo Direct.

We expect Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, Shinobi and Dragon Crystal to come to the service, with more to follow.

These are going to cost the same as GBC games aren't they? £5.40 for big name titles and £4.50 for obscure titles.

Great news - my Game Gear screen has seen better days (as has the speaker), so playing on a 3DS should be good! Hope Sonic 1 comes to 3DS VC at some point as the Game Gear version looked nicer than the Master System. Also really liked GG Shinobi.

The Game Gear is 8,5 years older then the Neo Geo Pocket Color. So of course games on the NGPC are better looking. GBA games are superior to GBC games.

I hope this comes to the US as well. Neo Geo Pocket would be nice too. I would love to play all those fighting games :)

Lovingly restored my Game Gear a few years back, so the sound and screen worked. Still doesn't solve the problem with the console's sheer bulk, although high drain 2500mAh batteries means I can get at least 10 hrs gameplay from one charge now. Love that these are now coming to VC now, will make things a hell of a lot more convenient. Gunstar Heroes and Micro Machines plz!

I think Nintendo is taking this in the right direction. Providing more and more full hand held games on their hand held system as DLC. Old games have little development cost and as DLC they have no production cost, so they have be low price and high quality. Higher quality then the garbage smartphone games people/idiots somehow think are "deals" at under $10.
