Charts: 1st January 2012 (UK)

Happy New Year edition

It's the first chart of 2012 and a watermark for the coming year. One day we'll look back at this chart and laugh — were we ever so young? — but for now let's see what we all bought at the end of 2011.

[1] denotes last week's position. [N] indicates game is a new entry. [-] indicates a non-mover.

The top two stays the same but there's a little jostling further down the chart.

1. [-] Pullblox
2. [-] Mighty Switch Force
3. [4] Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!
4. [6] Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
5. [3] Zen Pinball 3D
6. [5] Tetris
7. [-] 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure
8. [-] The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
9. [-] Super Mario Land
10. [11] Plants vs. Zombies
11. [15] Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!
12. [-] Let's Golf! 3D
13. [10] Bloons TD
14. [-] Cut the Rope
15. [16] Tetris Party Live
16. [13] Metroid II: Return of Samus
17. [18] Pyramids
18. [17] Donkey Kong
19. [N] Pac-Man
20. [19] Anonymous Notes: Chapter 1 — From the Abyss

Zen Pinball and Freakyforms swap places but otherwise it's a static chart here, which means the best content sits right at the top.

1. [-] Pullblox
2. [-] Mighty Switch Force
3. [4] Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!
4. [3] Zen Pinball 3D
5. [-] 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure
6. [-] Let's Golf! 3D
7. [-] Pyramids
8. [-] 3D Classics: Excitebike
9. [-] 3D Classics: Urban Champion
10. [-] 3D Classics: Xevious
11. [-] 3D Classics: TwinBee

Plants vs. Zombies nibbles back to the top spot , and Mario vs. Donkey Kong's resurgence continues, presumably as a result of the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong forming part of the 3DS Ambassador games. Perhaps most baffling is Mario Clock climbing 10 places to hit number 7. Bizarre.

1. [2] Plants vs. Zombies
2. [4] Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!
3. [1] Bloons TD
4. [3] Cut the Rope
5. [-] Tetris Party Live
6. [-] Anonymous Notes: Chapter 1 — From the Abyss
7. [17] Mario Clock
8. [11] Airport Mania: First Flight
9. [16] GO Series: 10 Second Run
10. [8] Crazy Hamster
11. [12] Rayman
12. [7] Crystal Monsters
13. [19] Beauty Academy
14. [N] Extreme Hangman
15. [9] Zenonia
16. [13] Pop Island Paperfield
17. [18] A Little Bit of... Dr Mario
18. [15] Music on: Acoustic Guitar
19. [N] Airport Mania: Non-Stop Flights
20. [N] Simply Mahjong

Tetris loses its first place after just one week. More practice needed.

1. [2] Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
2. [1] Tetris
3. [-] The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
4. [-] Super Mario Land
5. [-] Metroid II: Return of Samus
6. [-] Donkey Kong
7. [-] Pac-Man
8. [-] Kirby's Dream Land
9. [N] Bionic Commando
10. [12] Game & Watch Gallery
11. [-] Alleyway
12. [10] Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge
13. [-] Mario's Picross
14. [-] Gargoyle's Quest
15. [-] Double Dragon
16. [9] Blaster Master: Enemy Below
17. [-] Golf
18. [-] Tennis
19. [20] Avenging Spirit
20. [16] Adventure Island

Next up we've got the all-time best sellers list, a line in the sand for sales to come.

A bit sad to see Zen Pinball go below SML2. Maybe the release of William's Pinball Collections harms sales a bit ?
Also goodbye for now sweet little Mario's Picross. You're still a great game in 2012 and i hope you come back soon and stronger than ever. :)

It's the first app you're presented with when opening a featured section of the eShop approximately called "usefuls for everyday life". Maybe that explains it. :)

Shame Pop'n Twinbee sells so bad. Just bought it and it's great and love the 3D. Most games I play without 3D.

Pushmo's putting up some very impressive numbers! Can't wait to see what else Nintendo has in stock for us in 2012. :)

Mario's the best. I Wonder how this will go through all this month. And when does this chart update?

I just love that Pushmo is really the kind of game you'll never find on a mobile phone!
