Strum Along with Music On: Acoustic Guitar Next Week

Posted by James Newton

Abylight hoping it strikes a chord

If you like using your DSi to make beautiful music, you've so far been mostly limited to keyboards and studio software, with few to no alternatives. Abylight's Music On series is about to throw a new six-stringed option into the mix with the launch of Music On: Acoustic Guitar next week.

Selling at the same 200 Point price as its predecessors, Acoustic Guitar is aimed at existing strummers and those new to the instrument, with the sound of fingers moving on frets replicating the full-size instrument in a pocket format. The application can also be used to accompany a real guitar: its chord dictionary containing over 900 variations should be enough to satisfy the most chord-thirsty player.

Released in North America on Monday and a European launch following on Friday, we'll have a full review shortly.

Abylight is proud to announce the worldwide release of “Music on: Acoustic Guitar”, latest title of its successful musical series for Nintendo DSiWare™. “Acoustic Guitar” will be available for the Americas next Monday, September 6th, and for the European, Australian and New Zealanders users on Friday of the same week, September 10th;
priced at only 200 Nintendo DSi Points™.

“The sound quality and users' interface are remarkable improvements regarding our previous titles. Users will be able to hear fingers moving on the frets, strumming nails, and other real sound effects of an acoustic guitar, all displayed on an easier and more intuitive musical application. Nonetheless, the +900 chord directory alone makes this application a huge asset for any musician, amateur or professional.- Said Alberto González, Designer of “Music on: Acoustic Guitar”- We are very proud of the end result, as a musician and as a game developer working for Nintendo DSi”.

I'm really interested in this, but I haven't tried the previous in the series.
Sounds like a lot of improvements :)

This does look interesting. However, I am increasingly dismayed with the "coming soon" and release lists for DSiWare being filled with notebooks, diaries, music apps, pen-and-paper and board games. When I want to do any of these things, I do not use my DSi. I bought my DSi for video games, not personal productivity, education, or tic-tac-toe. Thank you.

I've been using Jam Sessions to guitar-on-the-go for years now. For someone that can't read music it's a great way to figure a song out before you actually learn to play it on a real guitar. This sounds deeper than Jam Sessions, can't wait to see for myself
